Did anybody go see this in it's limited release? I know they are releasing it in more theathers now and DD12 saw the previews for it last night during Ghosthunters. I don't think she took a breath during the entire preview, but she sure did bounce around repeating "gotta go see it" once it was over.

DH and I had previously seen a clip and we had planned to go, but weren't sure about taking her. She has seen all the classic horror movies - Micheal, Freddie, and Jason - as well as some of the new stuff - Emily Rose, Haunting in CT. The only ones I can think of that she hasn't seen are the Omen movies and Exorcist. If there is a TV show about paranormal stuff or scary stores, she is all over it.

If you did see it, is this right up her alley or is it to much? And for the record, she handles scary movies very well. Watching one then going to bed doesn't keep her awake. She doesn't jump at every little sound, nor does she have a trail of lights on as she moves through the house. I may do that, but she doesn't.

She is also ready to go see Cirque du Freak.

My brother and sister were saying that people were walking out of the theater because it was "so frightening".

Now I don't know if this is a marketing scam or not. Because now it makes me want to go see it.:lmao:

Other than "The Exorcist" I have yet to be REALLY REALLY scared by a movie.

We went to see it this past weekend, and it sounds to me like it would be right up her alley.
People in my theater would often gasp during certain scenes, but no one left the theater because it was to frightening.
It has very little blood and gore, until the very end, but you said she has seen Freddy, Jason, etc. So a little blood won't be a problem.

It was really well done, and quite realistic. It gave you a good scare, and it makes you think about it the days that follow :)

How about the camera shaky factor? That stuff bugs me. Is it "Blair Witch" shaky? If it is I will wait till video. On a big screen it can make me feel sick.

Most of the time they place the camera on a tripod, when they are sleeping (When most of the action happens) but he does carry it to various parts of the house.

Think home video :)

Me too. It's no good unless you have to watch parts of it through your fingers.

We watched Quarantine and the other one that was set around NY City, that was really like a home video. It wasn't too bad.

She wasn't very impressed with The Blair Witch movie.

LOL....

The camera shaky thing is probably a deal breaker for me. When I saw Blair Witch it made me feel sick.

I think it was shakier than Blair Witch.

Did anyone think the movie wasn't very scary? From all the media I expected to be scared to heck but wasn't. :confused3

Not me, I'm too big a chicken to see a movie with reviews like this one! :rolleyes1

I wouldn't say it was as shaky as Blair Witch because that was A LOT of running around in the forest in the dark, which was quite disorienting. But it was for sure shaky.
I didn't think it was as scary as it could have been. I think the thing that made it scary was that fact that it was made with a very small budget, which made everything seem really realistic.
There were certain parts where I was bored, and other parts where I was like :scared1: out of my mind.

Movies like the Blair Witch, Quarantine, and Paranormal Activity all frighten me a little more because of the realistic "home video" feature. The Blair Witch keep me up nights on end. Paranormal wasn't as bad, but it still made you listen a little sharper at night. :wizard:

My big tough football player DS saw this and has been scared outta his wits since!:rotfl2:

Normally, he doesn't scare too easily, but he's been sleeping under his covers and with the lights on all week.

Of course, my putting ghost-writing on his bathroom mirror and hiding around every corner isn't helping. :rolleyes1

The camera in Blair Witch didn't bother me but the alien one gave me a headache.

The alien one, that is the one in/around NY City. I found if I looked straight at the screen, it hurt my eyes. But if I tilted my head to the side, then turn my face just slightly to the other side, it didn't hurt.

I have also heard it it very frightening- when they were shoppin the film around to different film festivals people were leaving the theaters because they couldn't watch anymore.-- Not for me!

I found this movie boring. Yes people were walking out of the theatre, not in fear but for lack of anything really going on. When you start rooting for the demon, you know it's a bad movie.

The reason people were walking out was probably because of the a) horrible shakey camera - my friend couldn't even watch half the movie because it made him feel sick or b) it was just boring.

I was VERY excited to see the movie because it was hyped as being terrifying. But in reality, it's slow paced and the scare moments are way too few and far between. I left feeling very dissatisfied.

This movie scared the heck out of me and my DD22 and we are horror movie freaks! We see them all and have been waiting for one to really scare us. We both had trouble sleeping that first night after seeing it.

People walked out of our theater in fear during the flick. And the lady behind me was cursing at the end and stomped out, saying she didn't need to be that frightened.

I loved it. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
