Moved from AKL...going to BC and SAB! Superdetailed plans second family trip.

I just read a thread about Spoodles. I don't know why I clicked on it, but I did. I think divine intervention helped me discover that the menu there has been totally slimmed down. I don't even remember why I was attracted to it in the first place, but with the new menu, I definitely DO NOT want to eat there. It seemed that service was hit and miss there as well...so new plan. I think that we will give ESPN a try.

Really, I don't know why I am so obsessive about the food thing. I am really trying to do what I should be doing to lose some weight! And here I am desparately trying to figure out what we are going to eat on our vacation!:rotfl2: Ah well. I think it is because DS6 is such a picky eater and the kids menus are so limited. I really need to make sure that there is something somewhere that he will eat, even if it is just supplementing his mac and cheese (which he does like) with something from our plates. Because really, mac and cheese is like a side dish, it's not a full meal.

So, I said that I would post how we are doing the credits. Here goes:

Citrico's. 2A credits and 2C credits. DH and are going to split a meal here. Depending on how hungry we actually are, we can either split the appetizer and then each order a salad for OOP, split the entree and dessert. Or, just order one extra salad for OOP, DH has a salad, with no appetizer. The appetizer (fried cheese) is one of DS favs for the kids menu. That and salmon or steak and dessert will be what he eats. I could eat his veggies. Regardless, I am sure that we will be just fine foodwise and only use 2A TS credits and 2C credits.

ESPN. 2A credits and no C credits. Here, we will all eat from two adult meals. Geez. I was looking at the menu, and I think we could all eat here on 1 adult TS credit. It is tempting to try that and then go back and do that a couple of times on our trip, since I seem to need to figure out several lunches, etc., for times that we will be heading back to the hotel for some swimming. I have heard that the sandwiches are huge, and the appetizers would easily make a meal for DS. So, we shall see how that goes.

We should all be able to order a full meal at the other restaurants, although I am tempted not to in some cases. Like at Sci-Fi. I have read that it is easy to split the burgers there. And the fact is that we are going to fully pig out at the BBQ that night, so we don't really need to eat a whole lot earlier in the day. I may get into the nitty gritty of this later, because it might be an advantage to have extra TSs from splitting menus with ESPN and Beaches and Cream being so close and both not accepting ADRs, it would be easy to hop in there and just grab something if it was an off time and the wait wasn't long.

This may just bore you all to death, but this is serious for me. I really am trying to lose some weight and I really don't want to go to WDW and put a bunch back on. And as shocking as it may be...when I really get serious about losing weight...I stop eating at like 3:00 pm. You'd be amazed what that does for you. I basically eat a smoothie for breakfast, eat a decent lunch (the biggest meal of the day at about 11:00 or so), and then eat a significant snack type thing before 3. It is a doubly whammy. I end up going to bed earlier, getting better sleep, and losing weight. And it isn't hard to do, I don't worry too much about what I am eating, although I do tend to eat healthier...when the pounds start to come off, it is very encouraging and it makes me want to eat more fresh food. I am blessed to have a totally supportive DH who also wants to lose a little weight, so he joins me in "fasting dinners." But really, this is totally off topic.

I sure am glad that I saw the Spoodles topic though. It makes me want to double check the other menus too.

Do you ever just get in the mood to write?;)

I just wanted to share one more thing. Do you know what a rashguard is? I called them sun shirts before I knew the right terminology. Anyway, they are usually used for wet sports (like surfing and kayaking). Sports where you wear a swim suit and if you didn't have a shirt on, you might get chaffing, like while you are lying on your surf board paddling out to catch some waves. Surf board surfaces are rough, and your skin could get bothered if left unprotected. The rashguard is made of swimsuit material, designed to not have chaffing under the pits, etc., and designed to have around 50+ SPF.:woohoo: Very important in my fair skinned family.

Anyway...not to make a short story long...I found the cutest rashguards for women...because I do not want to get burned at BB or at SAB and I want to spend a lot of time in the water and in the sun. And I want to look good! I just wanted to share what I found. The website is http://www.girls4sport.com. I even got the boy shorts too. Yes, they are quite pricy, but pricy is worth it if you will wear it and feel good wearing it. This little beach/waterpark outfit is another reason why I should stop obsessing about food!:lmao: I'm not exactly in love with the way I look in the little shorts! I will wear them, because it isn't that bad, and it will much more convenient for those necessary trips than wearing my one piece swim suit under the rash guard, but still, I need to get on the ball and get my rear in gear.

Accomodations, tickets, flights, and most food is paid for before we go, but I am really trying to have a clue what we will spend on this trip...

Herein will be my list for tracking the additional expenses, assuming that I do not figure out someway to save on these expenses:

1. ?: beverages at BB (I know we will want something cold to drink. The question is whether or not we just get that when we grab more food, or will we need to pick something up?)

2. $6.00: mini donuts at BB (must have cash, because the stand doesn't accept DDP or key cards for room charge.)

3. $9.00-?: tube rental at SAB ($3.00 per hour, or $10.00 for the day.) We could bring our own tubes, but I haven't found tubes big enough for DH and myself. We could just skip the tube rental since we are going to BB, but...we are on vacation.:rolleyes1 )

4. $10: Passport at Epcot

Sounds like all of your plans are coming together well. I understand the whole restaurant thing. Honestly, if we wouldn't have gotten free dining, I wouldn't have given TS a second thought. But, since we do have FD, I searched through all the menus and had my mother and sister do the same. I'm pretty happy right now with our choices - Coral Reef, The Hollywood Brown Derby, Wolfgang Puck's, Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree Tavern. I'm hoping we will be just as happy when the trip is over!! ;)

So, the first day was seeming to be too hectic for me...it is one thing to have an 8:00 am breakfast planned close by, going to Donald's breakfast didn't seem to be such a big deal when we were staying at AKL...but from BC:scared1: and I found out about the character breakfast at BC!:cool1: It is a similar cast of characters...Goofy, Minnie, Chip and Dale...and it just makes so much more sense to HELLO? eat at the resort if we can! I hear good things about CMC so I am excited. So now, we will get up, get dressed in our swim gear...take some pictures with beach attired characters...grab our stuff from the room and head out to BB first thing!!!:goodvibes I figure that we will poop out at some point and head back to the resort for a bit and then off to DAK. I would like to catch the afternoon parade, which I hear is really good, maybe watch the last NEMO show (which we didn't get to see last trip), grab some dinner, and then enjoy the pm EMH at DAK! Now that sounds like a great vacation day!

Ahhhhhhh. I feel that I finally got it figured out.:cloud9:

I was stressing spending 4A TS credits at Citrico's and was trying to make it work without and I realized that I am totally looking forward to eating here and want to be able to order my own meal! So I took a look at what I had and decided that DH and I should be splitting our late lunch at Sci-Fi on the day that we are going to MBYBBQ. Duh. Then I took away eating at ESPN for sure, which is where I thought we could go instead of Spoodles.

This leaves us with one loan A TS credit, which I think would be easy to use at Beaches and Cream, which also doesn't take reservations. I am sure that we could split something there and just pay OOP for DS if need be. So there. All done figuring that out. Plus we could use this credit on either Tuesday or Saturday, so we have some flexibility there, which is wonderful.

I need to get some packing lists started...

We love the Cape May Cafe breakfast..the character interaction was great, not so loud or big. You will enjoy it!!

I have read nothing but positive reports on CMC...I am really excited to go! It's great that there is a character breakfast at our resort. We're going to BB after breakfast, so we are all going in our rashguards/swimming attire (appropriate for a restaurant of course), but I think the pics will be really fun with beach attired characters!:cool1:

All you plans sound great. Hopefully you'll start your TR before we go so I can hear how the plan= the reality.

All you plans sound great. Hopefully you'll start your TR before we go so I can hear how the plan= the reality.

I think I'll post right away as DS will be back in school the Mon after we get back...I'll probably try to keep the magic alive my posting trip and dining reports that week. It'll help me get a written description of our trip for my scrapbook. I hope DH doesn't freak out when I want to take pictures of our food.:lmao: We'll have to see how that one goes...

It just never fails...the night before a long trip...DH and I are up well past midnight...sometimes 2 am:eek: , packing and getting the house ready to be empty for a week. Not this time. I know that I will be excited, and may have a hard time sleeping, but I am determined...I WILL at least go to bed early and be in bed, asleep or not, the night before we leave.

So DS has been doing odd jobs, above and beyond the call of duty of being a member of the family, to earn some money to save up for Lego sets, etc. You don't get paid to make your bed, put away your toys, etc etc. One great job he does is pick up all the pine cones and branches that fall in the yard weekly before we mow. This is above and beyond for a 6 year old.

So, we have a deal...he can earn a whoppin $10 by participating in getting the house ready for vacation. You know...deal with the trash, clean out the fridge, making sure the cats are set up, laundry, packing, etc etc. Especially the day before...no complaining about all the chores that must be done around the house, etc. Some may think $10 sounds high...but I think it is a great deal...because the vacation prep will begin this week. It is time to get packing, believe it or not.

Packing lists coming soon...

The BC sounds really good to me.I can't wait to read how it is when you get back.:goodvibes Your plans sound really good and I will be looking forward to seeing the packing list.I am working on mine so maybe I will see something I have missed on yours.

$10 does not sound like too much.I would pay mine that much in a heartbeat. The days before a vacation are stressful enough without whining about helping.

Wow!! Only 18 days!!

Great list!! You should post it here. I started a thread for packing lists. :thumbsup2

Okay...serious oversight in the vacation plans...THE LEGO STORE!!!!!:scared1:

We have GOT to go to the Lego store.:cool1: DS is seriously into Lego, has been for a long, LONG time. We have to save all the catalogs that come in the mail...they are his comics...and we get the Lego Magazine...which is a free subscription btw...there are Lego creations all over my house and bricks all over...and Lego is sometimes the bane of my existence as it seems to thwart me at all turns against all attempts at containment and organization which is just so frustrating to someone like me!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Okay...I am calm...

But the point is that I don't have any time scheduled to go down to DTD! And I am not sure when to go. I know there is time in the schedule...we could go before P&PP, for instance, but that is rather late in our trip...I think we'd be better off going earlier in the week, just incase we needed to go back, because DS can have a hard time making up his mind...so I am thinking we could go on Tuesday...which is the first P&PP of the week. We go to am EMH in MK, swim, go to DTD.:confused3 We could eat dinner in DTD...maybe linner? I do have that coupon for Planet Hollywood...and I have heard excellent things about the Goofy Candy place...sounds like an amazing deal for a snack credit...I feel it...I am making up my mind...still not sure about Planet Hollywood though. I think there are some great CS options in DTD. Must research!!:lmao:

Just incase you have never heard of the Lego store, or want more info, here is the thread I started on the topic:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1534171

Esther, I saw your post on that thread, no one has answered it so far, you might want to start a new thread getting opinions on your plan before P&PP.:thumbsup2

Thanks for posting about this thread.I am having a hard time with my list for some reason.

Jeannie, your list is awesome!!I posted a halfhearted list on my report last night but I see it needs major overhaul.:surfweb:

DTD,has great CS.My family loves Earl of Sandwich and I want to try Wolfgang Express this trip.YUM!

Yes, I was glad to see your post as we've been planning on going and I wasn't thinking about how much time it might actually take. The P&PP is just messing my whole schedule up as we are early to rise early to bed and staying up one night till midnight is tricky. Maybe I'll start a DTD thread, like on hours and how much time people allot.

Okay, Ladies, you have to head on out to Target...unless, of course, you already have these things...the $1 section has mesh laundry bags, pop up hampers, nice sized cosmetic/toiletry bags, and 8"x8" paperback 4-color Disney story books. I picked up Robin Hood, Bambi, Dumbo, and 101 Dalmations. Perfect bedtime/airplane reading material.:cool1:

I am so excited about the laundry stuff because I kept reading last year about people bringing them, but I couldn't find any for a $1, even at the dollar store.:sad2: But I don't have a good dollar store...well, I could totally understand why everyone wanted them after our last trip. Now I have them. I have to update my packing list.:goodvibes

This is my packing plan...I read on someone's pre-trip that they do this...and it is such a good idea, I am going to do it too.:rotfl2: Anyway, I am packing a hanging bag...yes, a hanging bag. Normally, all my shirts, except for tank tops, but including t-shirts are hung. DH, too. So, using wire hangers, I am going to grab our shirts and pack them as is. Our hanging bag is really nice, and I anticipate that I should be able to get the majority of DH and mine's clothing into that bag.

I pack DSs clothing in the form of outfits, in Ziploc bags. No decision making in the morning. Everything is in the bag. Extras are also packed in Ziploc bags, with a sock bag, a shorts bag, a shirt bag. I roll the clothes that go into the bags for easier packing. Basically, everything in the suitcases is in some form of bag. Makes me feel a lot better about the possibility of security searching through my suitcases.

On our last trip, I packed DH and mine's outfits in 2.5 gallon bags. I could fit one outfit for each of us into one bag. I will still do this for the extra suitcases, because everyone has a least one outfit in every suitcase I pack. So, at least one outfit for DS will be in the hanging bag, and every other bag I end up packing...same for DH and myself...that way if any one bag is lost, no one loses all their clothes. Mix it up and be happy even if only one bag arrives. I learned this lesson when I was in fifth grade. I had my own suitcase, and mine was the only one that didn't make it. I had nothing for 24 hours and overnight. It was miserable. Not gonna happen again.:thumbsup2 Packing outfits in the bags really makes the mix it up packing easier.

Now, who cares for the packing on the way home? Generally the outfit bags get used up. But the extras may or may not be used up. I just put the Ziploc bags in the drawers in the hotel. Wear the outfits. Take the extras out as needed. Then any unused extras are halfway packed. And this time...ta da...there will be dirty clothes pack in laundry bags! How easy is that? Shove the laundry bag into the suitcase and done!:cool1: That's my system.

Things will be a little different with packing the hanging bag...hmmmm...but I don't have a good medium sized suitcase...I have the biggest you can take as a carryon (3) and HUGE. I brought the huge one on our last trip and I carefully packed it to be under the 50 weight limit, which wasn't easy because you can fit so much stuff in it. Well, on the way home...I was 2 pounds over...open suitcase, move stuff around, try to lose 2 pounds from the suitcase while trying to check in...it was horrible. I don't want to take that bag again, so I have to take a different one. We'll see how it goes.
