I received a message on my voice mail this morning from Disney reservations. They are moving our reservation from the Beach Club to the Yacht Club, because of a "water leak". This after they moved us from POFQ!

I can understand that plumbing problems are not avoidable, but I'm still p:ssed that they took a reservation for POFQ only a month before closing it. They had to know it was going to close, because even a company as large as Disney can't plan a renovation and buy furnishings for 1000 rooms with no advance notice. (Maybe especially a company that large.)

So much for all that Beach Club info I've collected! Anybody know anything about the Yacht Club?

Damn!!! <-- Expletive deleted.

Hey! I though the bad words were supposed to be edited automatically. What's up with that? I wouldn't have said it if I had known everyone would see it!

Damn!!!

We have stayed at both several times. They are connected and except for some decoration differences you can consider them to be interchangable parts. BC is closer to the back gate of Epcot.

They share the major water park-like pool, marina, boat dock and so on and are directly across the lake from the Boardwalk.

I personally think that they are a major step up from PO. Even the parking lot views are great rooms.

Don't be mad, I'd love to stay there again. This year we are staying at the BWV two bedroom since there are six of us going and we didn't want to spend the big bucks for two or three rooms.

We stayed at the YC during our 1st-ever trip to WDW and we absolutely LOVED it! It's a wonderful resort and I'll bet that you'll love it, too.

We have stayed in both resorts twice each.
I prefer the Yacht Club. We had the best stay ever last Sept. The rooms are refurbed and beautiful. They are really pretty. don't fret....its not a bad thing.
Maybe you can ask for a water view as compensation for the hassel. We had a spectacular view of Illuminations from our patio. perfect !!:smooth:

I don't see the problem here. You got upgraded to a deluxe from a moderate. The YC is basically attached to the BC and shares all amenities. The rooms are identical except all at the YC have full balconies which is not the case at the BC. The decor is different, pastelly floral at the YC v. sea shells and pastel at the BC.

There's no reason to stress about moving from the BC to the YC.

As to the poster that suggested they get a free upgrade for their troubles--huh? What troubles? If they had been moved to WL--then yes maybe. But from BC to YC, especially due to something beyond WDW's control, with advance notice no less, your suggestion seems more than a bit drastic.

All the info you collected on the BC will be fine for the YC, they are connected so really it is no big deal.
My daughter and I stayed in the YC in 2001 and we loved it. It is a beautiful resort and the CMs were very friendly. I chose the YC over the BC because of the full balcony.
The resorts share the same bus, (in fact the YC gets picked up first) you can still use Storm along Bay, so relax and enjoy your stay

If your bad luck continues like this, you're going to end up in a Grand Villa at Boardwalk!

Sorry about your problems with CRO, I was very frustrated with them before our trip in March. But you are getting a wonderful resort with some of the best food at Disney.

Don't miss out on the wonderful restuarants! We never miss the Clambake at Cape May Cafe or a chance for prime beef at the Yachtsman Steak House (make sure you get PS, both places are very busy). Also you will be just across from the Boardwalk, Spoodles has a wonderful breakfast, plus the Bakery on the Boardwalk has wonderful desserts, (nice treat after Illuminations).
Check out the Big River Grille for "perfect" smoked ribs and smooth micro-brew beers.

Also if you love great ice cream check out Beaches and Cream.

Have a wonderful trip! :p

What hassel?????

Being upgraded to a deluxe (I'm assuming your upgrade was one of those incredible deals Disney offered PO guests) and then moved a few feet to a nearly identical deluxe?

If that's a hassel that entitles you to even more comps, WDW is free to hassel me anytime they want!

Thanks peachgirl, I'm glad I wasn't the only one that wondered about the hassle aspect. I could see it if one were already there, and forced to move to a different resort. But I consider a mod to deluxe upgrade a pretty good deal in and of itself.

I didn't say it was a hassel. (Or a hassle. :p ) And I didn't say that they didn't adequately compensate for moving us from POFQ. I said they should have known about the POFQ closing in time to not take that reservation.

It wasn't a comp, and they didn't offer it until I asked. I haven't asked for anything for moving from BC to YC.
moved a few feet
Seems farther when pushing a wheelchair to Epcot.

Not to sound snide, but wouldn't taking the boat solve this problem?

The boat is very slow, but may be the best option.

The other option might be to change resorts to the BWI, wihch is closer than the YC. The amenities are pretty much the same at all three.

Or see if they have a studio availale at the BCV that they'd be willing to give you.

Thanks for the ideas. From what other posters have said, I'm sure that the YC will be fine.

I can always make the children push mom's wheelchair. :teeth: After all, I am the villain.

I'd respond to the points you discussed in your post, but I have this little self-imposed rule...... "Never continue discussing an issue with someone who thinks it's important to correct spelling errors on an internet discussion forum".

I have a similar rule... "Never continue discussing an issue with someone who quits discussing it with me first." :teeth:

Seriously, I apologize for offending you, I didn't mean to do so.
