Mousesavers problem FYI

I don't know if anyone else has ever had this problem but I will explain just in case. I made a 1 night resevation at the DD DoubleTree thruogh a code on Mousesavers. When Dreams quoted me a better rate for 2 rooms at ASM I called to cancel my DoubleTree reservations. They told me Mousesavers would have to cancel them! They said Mousesavers was a wholesaler selling discounted rooms and only they could cancel the room. I argued that the were only telling about specials they had negotiated with the hotel and I used that code as a "mousesaver frequenter". and that there was no way to contact anyone as it is not a company. I asked to speak to someone else and the women came back and said she tried to cancel the room and it "seemed" to accept the cancelation. I recieved a cancelation # and her name. It shocked me that they made me push so hard to do this. Just a heads-up for others.:D

Well, the reservationist you spoke with was completely, totally wrong. I have no idea why you were told that!

I am NOT a wholesaler and you do NOT have to go through me to change or cancel a reservation made with the MouseSavers rates. If you want to cancel or change a reservation made with the MouseSavers rates, you can just call the hotel directly.

I just got off the phone with my contact at the DoubleTree and he apologized profusely. He thinks there must be a new reservationist who doesn't understand the MouseSavers rates -- or perhaps you called the national reservations number for Hilton/DoubleTree, where they might not be familiar with a "local" rate -- in any case, this is NOT a normal problem.

My contact asked that you e-mail him at dtorlando@earthlink.net with Attn: Kevin in the subject and send him your confirmation number so that he can make sure the cancellation was handled properly. Also, if you can provide the name of the reservationist, he will make sure that person is told the correct info.

Sorry you experienced a "glitch" Sigafoos. With employees and new reservation agents this sort of misunderstanding can happen all the time.
I think in the future however, with all the wonderful info that Mary provides, it would be courteous for others to contact her first if anyone has any problems with the info or tips from the site.

I didn't post that to cause problems and I never felt that it was anyone but the hotels fault. I would not hesitate to use your site again and have . I had not made hotel reservations with a code from your site before and thought perhaps this had happened with the DD DoubleTree before. I will send the information where you suggested although I'm sure the cancellation was done. I did call the hotel directly though, not the national number. I apologize for not e-mailing you, I looked at Mousesavers quickly as I was dealing with the hotel and I overlooked the e-mail address. I was not trying to make it look like there was a problem with Mousesavers, only with the hotel.:o
