Mousekeeping Tipping?

My wife and I booked a trip to WDW in the beginning of Dec. 2005 and are staying at the POP.

As far as tipping, how much on average do people tip for mousekeeping and do you tip each day of your stay or just wait until your last day and leave the tip in a larger sum?

I would have to guess that you would leave it each day because of the possibility of not having the same person for mousekeeping.

Your suggestions are appreciated.

While at WL last week we tipped our mousekeeper $5 per day with 4 of us in the room. We left the tip daily. We usually use the rule $1 per person per day.

DH and I have done both.
If we are staying at a DVC resort on points we tip upon departure and the amount depends on the condition of the room upon arrival.

We left a $10 tip for 2 days at HH (1bdrm) the room was spotless. The last trip we took to BCV Oct, I left a $5 dollar tip (which I still regret) for a 6 night stay for a 2 bdrm and a studio. My SIL had to mop her kitchen floor and run the the coffee cups through the dishwasher upon arrival! :earseek:

For resorts with daily maidservice once again, it depends upon the condition of the room upon arrival. Anywhere from $1-$5 per day with 2 being the norm.

I would just like to bring up one point! And I am not trying to offend anyone. But I feel that mousekeeping is greatly overlooked in the tipping department (please correct me if I am wrong). I can only imagine the condition of some of the rooms they have to clean. But on the flip side if I check in and there is hair in the bathroom or ANYHTING at all on the toilet well let's just say it greatly affects my tipping decision!

Hope this helps I know it was more than you asked for so sorry if it is TMI!

The wife and I leave $5 a day, for just us 2.
we don't make a mess, but they left of tons of mickey soap and shampoo(we still have a bunch of those and even gave some away, they just kept giving us tons more soap and stuff) :)

I think it depends on how big a mess you make. When DS found he couldn't tolerate the nachos he had at Illuminations, I left a $20 for that day. The only question I have is this: Why is $5 per day appropriate for Mousekeeping but $15 per day suggested for DCL cabin steward?

:earboy2: mousekeeping if you have a good mousekeeper tip at end of stay if they havent done a good job no tip :rockband:

For two adults and 3 children we tip $5.00 per day. Last summer we had the nicest girl from mousekeeping who would rearrange the kids stuffed animals. We left her the $5 each day and on the last day left her $20.

We all ways tip every day. Usually $5.00 for the 4 of us unless the room looked like a hurricane had gone through. Last time our mousekeeper left a little card that introduced himself. He would arrange towels and little items that the kids had accumulated in the cutest ways. I agree that mousekeeping is so often overlooked for tipping. They have a tough job and not many people appreciate the time and effort they put in.

Do they have the little Disney soaps at Pop?

yes, at pop you will get mickey mouse soaps, they come in two sizes(or that what we got) one was thinner than the other, and the other was the full bar. they gave us tons of em(and little shampoo/conditioner bottles too).
I just gave some to my nephew and his family who are going the same time we are to get them in the mood, but warned em that they won't have these at the allstars(they use that pumped stuff). :earboy2:

I know it may seem silly but it's the little things like the soaps that make the difference.

ditto all of that! (well, except we weren't at WL last week....it was WL in July 03, but the rest is the same.) :D

We always leave $10 per night, we are very clean, but I know that job is hard. Alot of the housecleaners are single moms who no doubt struggle to get by on the diddly wages they are paid.

We plan to leave $10 a night as well. Besides, the more you leave the more attention they give. It just lets them know you appreciate them.
