Is it a good idea to leave a tip each day or should you wait until the end of the week to leave it all?

Do you have the same mousekeeper everyday or is there a different one each day?

Or do all the tips go into a pool that all the mousekeepers share?

It wouldn't be right to leave all the money at the end of your stay and have it all go to someone who only worked one day.

Tip each day. It's my understanding the tip goes to the mousekeeper assigned to you that day. We seemed to have the same lady each day, but we didn't run into her each day. I forgot to leave it one day, so the next day I left two with a note to give it to the lady from the day before. Who knows if it got to the right person, but I tried.
I just put them in individual envelopes before we leave, with Thank you written on them and leave one out each morning. :)

We tip daily. During our stays, we've often had a couple of different housekeepers.

What if you get back to your room and it isn't up to par?? If you are tipping the mousekeeper each day, you are tipping the mousekeeper before you know if she did a good job with your room. And if you get a lousy job done, and you don't tip the next day, you are actually penalizing the potential new mousekeeper who may not have cleaned your room the day before. This is my problem with tipping before the service is actually performed. That being said, I still tip daily, and I tip based on how my room has been cleaned, not how I think it will be cleaned. So, I guess if I get a bunch of towel animals, and extras and real good service one day, the mousekeeper for the next day, gets the benefit of an extra tip.

I don't think they share the tips. We had the same mousekeeper every day and she was a real sweetheart. We left her a tip every day except one, and then we doubled up the next day. We did this even when she didn't come in to clean the room -- my son was sick with chicken pox, so there were days when we just asked her to replace the towels. We tipped her just the same because we figured it wasn't her fault she couldn't come in to clean.

We experienced the same. We stayed at AKL for 11 nights in February and had the same housekeeper every day!! I don't know when she took time off but this lady was incredible! We did leave our $5 tip (2 of us) every day and the nice thing was, every morning we came out of our room, our housekeeper caught us in the hallway and thanked us. She was really very sweet. ::MickeyMo

I tip daily. It's a real timesaver to prepare envelopes in advance...then you aren't rushing around in the morning looking for $.

We tip DAILY . We leave $1 per person in envelope on bathroom shelf or on pillow at foot of bed. We already put money in envelopes before leaving home marked with each day /date.

I tip daily at any hotel. I tend to stay in larger chain hotels when I travel. You may get the same housekeeper, but it's not guaranteed.

My family tips $2-$3 every day before we leave for the parks. Our mousekeeper sometimes leaves us napkin animals or straightens up our shoes or our hair products. Its a surprise everyday to see what they have done to our room. :mickeybar

I know people have previously posted links for mousekeeping envelopes :earsgirl: , I just don't remember where:scratchin:. Would anyone happen to have the link available? It would be much appreciated :goodvibes . I like the idea of having an envelope ready for each day before I leave for my trip rather than having to constantly run around trying to get change of a $20. Thanks!

We do the daily tip in the envelope and leave $5 a day (for two of us). I also notice that when we do that we have gotten "extra" care, including towel animals (and this is when we went WITHOUT kids!) and once our mousekeeper would even call us on the phone asking if we needed anything before her shift was ending! I guess that was her way of saying "thanks" to us. :flower:

there were a few sites that i found... they have downloads of images that you can use to print on to envelopes from your computer...

http://www.themouseforless.com/downloads/trip/mousekeeping.shtml

http://www.arwolff.com/heidi/

also there are thank you notes that you can print out and hand out to cm's that make your day extra special... a great idea to help teach your kids appreciation and gratitude by having them pass these out to those cm's. some of the notes on the site are like this:

These are really cute! But they came out way too low res on my computer. So I searched for free Disney clip art and found this fantastic site! http://clipart.disneysites.com/ I think the envelope clip art might have come from here.

Edited to correct URL.
