The more I thought about this thread the more I knew I needed to speak up. As a bed and breakfast owner myself, I have to say JUST LEAVE THE MONEY. I have several friends who are housekeepers at Disney also. Those housekeepers are extremely busy and have to do a ton of rooms each day. They have seen all these envelopes before and really don't want to deal with them. They just want to pocket the money and get to the next room. Don't get me wrong. They are very appreciative of the money! Also what is with 5 dollars for a tip? If you can afford to stay in a Disney hotel, you can afford a decent tip. At my bed and breakfast inn it is not uncommon to see $10-20 dollars a night. So let's help these people out and give them some decent money. You can't imagine what they do and see each day.

We use the envelopes. Not because we are trying to be "silly". Because the first year we went I left cash in an obvious spot and no one ever picked it up. So the envelope leaves no question as to who it is for. And my kids enjoy decorating them. It never occurred to me that would annoy housekeeping.

If the housekeepers are annoyed by the envelopes, they can feel free to leave them. I'm sure at least some of them appreciate the gesture to spread a little cheer....if they throw them away, that's up to them. It makes me feel good to possibly make someone smile, and spread some good juju, so I'll keep doing it.

Last year we were at POFQ for a week. Our housekeeper came and found us on our last day to let us know how much she enjoyed our envelopes and the tips each day. My grandchildren loved meeting her, especially since they had decorated and written notes on the envelopes. So I will be leaving "cute" envelopes again on the sink this coming November. It makes our stay a little more magical when we can do things for others.

Uhhh yeah! Of course I will tip! And yes I am printing cute notes! I compare it to when I was a teacher. Sure I was busy and many days I left school feeling angry at someone, but do you think I saw the cute notes, cards, letters, etc. my students left me as a trifle or a burden? No way! It showed me they cared about me enough to say thanks even when I was a pregnant crazy screaming banshee woman one year. And you know who the children worshipped the most? Mr. Jessie the custodian who cleaned my room!! This is a good habit to cultivate in children. Being a stingy tipper sucks.
