Hello there Disers
Well, Im going to attempt my very first Pre Trip Report. Dont know how it will turn out so everyone please bear with me. I dont think of myself as much of a writer and it will not be as in depth as most of everyone elses but I wanted to give it a shot anyway and share a little of our excitement. We will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside (or POR as you all refer to) Oct.23-29 with Free Dining. You will notice I am not real big on all the abbreviations usually used on the DIS. My workplace bogs us down with that stuff. Apparently, we must have a hidden office somewhere on plant site where people get paid to set and think up acronyms. Or sometimes I think they come up with the acronym first then try to put together words to fit it that make since. Anyway, I will just long hand it usually.
I guess lets start with some introductions.
First, there is myself. I am Pat and I am 42. I am an Industrial Electrician/Instrumentation Tech. I am the vacation planner of the family. I am always asking for input and help wherever we go because I want everyone to have the best experience possible but I always get told to just do what I think is best and they are game. This has its ups and downs though. On the up side if everything goes well then I Am The Man. On the down side if it doesnt then you know who gets blamed, right?
Second, is my DW of 21 years. She is Tammy and a secretary in our county school system. Quite honestly, I dont know where I would be without her. We will be celebrating her 43rd birthday on this trip. Even though she lets me do the planning, she is the one that created this Disney obsession in me. Even though this will only be our 3rd trip to Disney, I still read(lurk) on the dis every day and am always putting Disney trips on the agenda even though we usually go other places.
Next, DS Ryan. Ryan is 17 and a big bad senior this year. He is one of the main reasons that Disney was a must this year. After graduation, who knows what path he will take or how many , if any , family vacations we will have a chance to take together. Hopefully I am wrong, but if this would be our last real family vacation, I want it to be a great one that he will never forget. I love you son. Ryan plays basketball, baseball, and soccer at his high school so he is very active and busy. We will actually be hitting a small window between soccer and basketball seasons.
And finally, DS Bryce. Bryce is 10 and just started his first year at the middle school. Bryce is the clown of the family. If there is a joke to be made or cheering up to be done, Bryce is your man. He doesnt get mad often. One of the maddest moments I have ever seen Bryce was at the end of the school year last year. He came home mad as a hornet because he wasnt picked as class clown this year. First year ever since kindergarten. He is really looking forward to getting back to Disney. He wasnt tall enough to ride everything the last time we were there and now he can.
Also joining us on this trip, is my parents, Jack and Mary. This will be their first time at Disney. We have tried for years to talk them in to going with us and it was always one excuse after another. They finally agreed so I booked before they could change their minds. Dad is recently retired and loving it. He was a fantastic provider for us growing up. Mom is and has always been a very dedicated house wife (stay at home mom to me and my 3 brothers). They have done some traveling but they both deserve this and I am very fortunate to still have my parents with me and be able to give them this.
So, now that you have met us, I will take a break. When I post again, I will have our daily plans and ADRs ready for everyone to look at and share their input.
