Does anybody know if you get a license to drive a motorhome (non commercial) without a valid medical card or passing a physical exam? My blood pressure is too high to pass the DOT physical exam if I took it and I do not see how high blood pressure can make you less of a safe driver.

The DOT only requires the physical/medical for CDL's.
If you are driving your own motorhome, not for hire, then all you need is your normal class C driver's license.
You do, however, need proper insurance for the motorhome, and it may restrict who can drive it.

Since I suck at reading minds and I don't know what state you reside in I'll just reference this link which may give you some accurate information. But you need to check with your State licensing authority for the facts.
This....
First, you might be better off posting this in the Camping Forum as there is a whole bunch of RVers there from different states that could tell you what you need based on where you are. Different states have different requirements.
Second, needing only a class C is completely incorrect advice. Usually the license is based on weight, with 26k being the cutoff for a Class C license.
When I lived in MD, a non-commercial Class B was required to drive a motorhome over 26k. I live in Florida now and a Class C is indeed all that is required.
I have a Class A motorhome with a GVWR of 52k.

Stratman50th is correct that depending on your state, and the weight rating of your motorhome, you may be required to get a different class license, but still not a CDL, so no medical needed.

Is there not reciprocity between states were a B is required if living in that state but you can drive there in a Prevost (pronounced *pray - voe*) with a C from Fl?

I believe what ever license is required in the state the rig is registered in is all you need.

I don't know of any requirement in my state unless it's an actual commercial vehicle like a bus. I think the limit in California is just three axles. OK - looked it up. There is a limit for two axles, but 26,000 lbs is a lot. Granted, there probably should be higher standards as I've been stuck in traffic due to a turned over RV. And the irony is that a lot of people take them to scenic places with narrow roads.

Class C DL –
  • You may drivea:
    • 2-axle vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds (lbs.) or less.
    • 3-axle vehicle weighing 6,000 lbs. or less gross.
    • Housecar 40 feet or less.
    • 3-wheel motorcycle with 2 wheels located in the front or back.
    • Vanpool vehicle designed to carry more than 10 persons, but no more than 15 persons including the driver.

Yes. There is reciprocity between states.

Rather than ask a Disney forum, research your own state's licensing laws and requirements. It's all on line these days. If you aren't legal, you can be ticketed but worse, they can tow your rig unless you can come up with a properly licensed driver. I've seen a lot of bad information posted on the internet. Do it right and you'll have no regrets.

Is there a reason why you don’t get your high blood pressure fix? You say you don’t see how high blood pressure can make you less of a safe driver. Probably the number one reason is being sleepy.

I have no idea about the motor home, but I hope you get your blood pressure under control. My grandma had very high blood pressure and needed 2 different types of medicine in tandem to get it under control. I could always tell when it got too high because she would not act right and get confused. High blood pressure is no joke and can kill you very quickly.
