I have said on other threads that I would post a picture of DH's motorcycle ride over the Beartooth Hwy (MT). He was there on Memorial Day weekend. I have no idea how they plow snow that is this high, but they use these really tall sticks poking up out of the snow to see where the road is.

EDIT: Ok, how come the picture came out in the "post preview" , but when I submitted it, I lost it?

Dan, are you out there? I am looking sort of silly, here..

Ok, now I KNOW that the Disboards are messing with my mind. I went back out to the "Community Board" forum, then I clicked on my thread, and NOW the picture is fine...

Excuse me, I have to go pull out my hair....

EDIT: now, it's gone again..I give up...

It's not you, it's Imagestation. I had the same problem. Someone suggested photobucket and it's working for my sig.:teeth: I'd like to see the photo, as I've been on the Beartooth Hwy. and it's very pretty!:cool2:

My husband rode Beartooth last July, and froze then. He has leathers and gauntlets and still froze. I imagine Memorial Day was really cold. Look forward to your pic. It sounds a lot like Trailridge here in Colorado.

Here you go. You need to go to the storage bin first in Imagestation. From there, click on the small picture and then get the url from the big picture that comes up. You have an extra .orig.jpg at the end, it needs to end in just a single jpg, no period at the end. You will get this then..................

And a very cool picture. That snow was there in May????

Thanks!! I am all excited to see the bear tooth highway after reading about it on the other thread!!
Great picture!!

Great photo. I have one of my two girls standing next to the road when it looked like that, we were 4 cars behind the snowplow on June 1, on the Beartooth highway a few years ago!

That photo kind of looked like a switchback. That's how you get up the mountain without having to go straight up. The poles identify the edge of the road so the snow plow doesn't go off the edge. It's a long way down.

We were in Yellowstone about 8 years ago for Memorial Day Weekend and Lake Yellowstone was just breaking up. The day we got there it was still frozen solid. The road from Canyon to Tower was still unplowed. We had to come into the park through Mammoth.

I had a friend go one time over July 4th and they got stuck in a blizzard on the Beartooth.

Hey Dan, thanks for coming to my rescue!! Again!!

We have been up there in August, and still been able to find snow within walking distance from the road for the boys to play in..
Here's me and the boys on July 3 this year if you missed in on the other thread I posted it on...<img width=400 src=http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid128/pabc05fbcd17a08b699f4b50e0bdb8b80/f7dac05f.jpg>

Then in September it starts getting ready to do it all over again.. Yes Deb&Bill, it is all switchbacks, some of them pretty severe. I would NOT want to be a snowplower trying to navigate those dropoffs by just some skinny sticks poking up out of the snow!!

Hi mtbluejeans,,you like??? This is your backyard!!!

Great picture! My first trip to Yelowstone we went Memorial Day weekend and was shocked to see snow out there. It was that high and maybe even higher going in the East Entrance of the park. But it was still beautiful (and cold).

When we were in Montana last week someone was saying that the Beartooth Hwy was one of the most beautiful drives around, compared it to the Going to the Sun Hwy in Glacier. We'll have to check it out sometime, we've been to Going to the Sun Hwy and it's wonderful. Thanks for the pictures :)

Have you seen the pics on the Glacier website of clearing the Going to the Sun Hwy? They are pretty neat, lots of snow, here's a link
