motorcycle accident cancel info needed

My boyfriend got into a motorcycle accident this evening at 11pm(he is ok), We should be getting on a plane at noon today for a week trip in WDW. I did NOT get the insurance....stupid I know. I know up until 5 days out you could cancel with a 100.00 fee, and I thought up until the day we leave it is 200.00, what if I need to cancel it at 9am the day we leave, today???? Do I still just pay the 200.00 or do I lose it all? I think I am going to be sick. He is ok, neck is a little sore, did not go to the hospital, thinking he might want to do that this morning, still needs to fill out a police report and call the insurance at 7am. I am torn with what to do? Try and push it back a day maybe, but if not, what will happen today? Thanks. TIA

Not particularly surprisingly, Disney WILL work with you if you want to reschedule your arrival, or your entire trip. They can't make rooms appear when there aren't any - but usually when Guests have to cancel on short notice, Disney will allow them to roll over the entire payment/deposit to a new reservation.

Your larger problem is going to be the airline.

Thank you for your reply, the airline is no problem, they have a wonderful emergency policy, just got off the phone with them. It is disney who I wish had a 24 hour line. Waiting until 9 when they open is going to be un-nerving.

I think they open the reservation line at 7 EST. I'm glad your DBF is ok. When you get there, have a wonderful trip!

Disney open their lines at 7am EST but since you are in Ohio you might be what an hour behind or is it two hours behind. They should work with you. I am glad your BF is okay. Good luck

It's 8:59 and he just finished the police report. He is calling the insurance now with the report number. I was able to push the flight back today by 2 hours with no penalty, but then after that recieve a full credit for a year, if we go tomorrow we will have to pay an additional 400.00!! Ack. He has not even been to the emergency room yet, his neck is hurting slightly, he thinks it might be just a tiny twinge of whiplashy stuff? But knew he would feel something today, I dont want to take the chance and want him to go o the ER to get checked out quickly, but we all know that the ER is never quick. Neither of us has slept at all, we were both up all night. His mom is with him now, I just got a call asking if I can cancel. I understand he is exhausted and shaken still. He should call back soon. I hate circumstance. I am so glad that he is safe, and hope not to sound ungrateful, but hope he changes his mind and decides to want to go. The call I just got was him saying he just didnt know if he could do it. I feel so crushed for him. He is trying so hard.

that is probably the best thing to do. Let him heal and go at a later date so you can have a worry free vacation. Hope everything is ok.

I think in the end you will be glad this is how it turned out to be. If his neck is hurting he would want to avoid all the "jerking" rides and for two young people, there are many to enjoy.

Trust everything happens for a reason and when you finally do get there, there will be no dark cloud hanging over the trip.

Life is funny like that. You are probbaly young - and things like this happen throughout your lifetime - and you'll learn to deal with a little better each time. I know you must be so upset about it all.....but take it all into perspective. You'll get to WDW soon. In the meantime, I am glad to read that he is ok. Motorcycles are so, so dangerous.

I hope your DBF gets better quickly! I had to cancel our summer trip last year when I was recovering from surgery and became ill. Disney was great! We rescheduled for February and didn't lose a penny! They even refunded the cost of our Pirate and Princess party tickets! Good luck to you and I hope you can enjoy rescheduling and planning your trip!

You did the right thing in the end. With neck injuries even if not hurting now will later. Better safe than sorry. maybe later in the year but the main thing he is okay & walking after a motorcyle accident.

It really is the best thing that you cancelled your trip for now. Make sure DB gets checked out. I was rearended about 10 years ago and my neck only hurt a little. I never had it checked. Two years later cervical disk 6/7 broke and I had to have surgery.
