Made ya look :) (with a curious subject heading)

I got this idea from someone's personal WW web page (sorry I don't recall the URL).

Its a little trick to help stay motivated. I love it.

(you can use any objects you like)

Take the amount of your weightloss goal and divide by 5 (or what every mini goal you would like). Go out and purchase (or find in your yard) some nice stones, enough for each 5 pound minigoal. Put them away somewhere and each time you lose 5 you get to choose one of your precious stones for display! I cleared off a spot on top of my roll-top desk for my stone display. No one else knows what they signify. I love picking out just the right one for the occasion.

I gained back some weight and had a delimma in what to do with my "stones on display" so I added a little holding tray to hold the stones that need to be "reacquired" but I keep them on display because they remind me that I really can do this :)

I hope someone finds that helpful.

The website also listed ideas like making a paper clip chain with a paper clip for every pound you need to lose. As you lose them you start forming another chain that glows while the first shrinks. That sounded good, too.

This is a great idea. I am the type of person that needs any types of rewards I can think of. I like how visual this is. I have been thinking that I may take some small stones out of my flower garden and paint them or put inspirational words on them. I am going to bring them to work so that they sit out and make me see how I am reaching my goals every day. I also like the idea of not putting them back away if you gain weight. Putting them in a tray is a wonderful way to see what you want to achieve again and to see that you had already done it once.

Here's hoping to find some cool stones tonight - Thanks for the idea!

I like that idea! When you're having a bad day, it's easy to forget how much you have accomplished. This would be a great way to remind yourself that you have done it and you CAN keep doing it!

A lady in my WW group said that she keeps 2 clear glass jars on her kitchen window sill. One jar has one gumball for each pound she wants to lose. The other jar contains one gumball for each pound she has lost. When she loses another pound she transfers a gumball to the other container. I liked this idea a lot, too. :D

Those are some nice ideas!! I think some pretty marbles or those colored stones that you put in flower arrangements would be pretty also!!

This sounds good, as I NEED a visual encourager. I always mean well, but during the middle of the day/evening, I tend to "fall of the wagon". Something like this might help!

I saw a site once where a man lost a significant amount of weight (over 100, I'm thinking...)

He went and bought non-perishable food equal to the weight he was losing (i.e., a 2-pound can of veggies for a 2 lb. loss, 5 pounds of flour for a 5 pound loss...) He'd stack the food in the corner of his dining room.

As he got lighter, his stack got bigger... when he hit goal, he took it all to a local food pantry.

What a great idea!

These are all good ideas!

Having visual reminders and concrete things that one can hold and feel is a great way to keep the motiviation and a sense that you are really doing something.
