I though it might be nice to have a thread of motivating sayings that someone can take a look at when having trouble with this journey. I'll add a few that I found in the Chicken Soup for the Dieter's Soul (I highly reccommend this book) If you find a motivating, inspirational or funny quote please add it here.

This life is yours: Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly. Take the power to walk in the forest and be a part of nature. Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you. Take the power to make your life happy. --- Susan Polis Schutz

When we move out of the familiar here and now, we set in motion a series of events that, taken together, bring about changes at the very root of our being. ---- Joseph Dispenza

Flatter me and I may not believe you. Criticize me and I may not like you. Igonre me and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will never forget you. --- William Arthur Ward

I'm not overweight. I'm just 9 inches too short. ---Shelly Winters

Bad habits are like a comfortable bed, easy to get into, but hard to get out of.---unknown

My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are 3 other people.--- Orson Wells

Just think of all those women on the Titanic who said "No, thank you", to dessert that night. And for what! --- Erma Bombeck

Success consists of getting up just one more time than you fall. ---Oliver Goldsmith

I've been on a diet for 2 weeks and all I have lost is 14 days.
Totie Fields (a comedian from the 60's)

This is one of my favorites.

That is a good one lol

I don't know who said this but..

The only difference between try and triumph..is a little bit of umph!

I don't know who said this quote, or even where I first read it, but I like it:

The single most important ingredient to long term success is not just the determination to start, but the ability to start again.

I like this one,

"Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right!"
Henry Ford

This is more of a story than a quote but it sticks with me and very motivating...

A women was at a concert hall listening to one the greatest pianist in the world. After the concert she went up to the pianist and said "You were amazing the most beautiful sound I have ever... I would give anything to play like you."

The pianist responded "Thank you for your compliment. But I don't believe you that you would GIVE anything"

Lady..."I would, I would give ANYTHING"

Pianist..."All you have to give is your time, I practice for 8 hours a day 7 days a week for the last 20 years"

I always think of this when I see those skinny women... I always said I would give anything. But that isn't necessarily the truth when I wasn't giving my greatest effort at the gym or with what I was eating.

This one I have posted on my bulletin board in my office:

Success is not final, Failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts."
(Winston Churchill)

Joan Rivers comments about famous overweight people..

"..She puts mayonnaise on her aspirin!"

"..They asked her what she wanted on her hamburger, and she said 'A Hotdog."

"..She's the only person who stands in front of a microwave and yells..'HURRY!"

:rotfl2: :lmao:
