Motion sickness

Rise is most like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Large cars with multiple people that don’t go very fast. Think of old school bumper cars without the bumps.

Speaking of motion sickness… omg no one warned me about grizzly river rapids. I was picturing old school Thunder River a la Astroworld circa 1990. Nope. It’s like splash mountain had a baby with the teacups- we’d never ridden it before and I spent an hour horizontal on a couch in the animation building afterwards. 🤢 The spinning…. Omg

Is Guardians of the Galaxy the same as the old Tower of Terror? I mean it's rethemed but the actual ride is still basically the same?

I keep hearing about motion sickness on Guardians but is that the WDW version? I'm okay with Tower of Terror.

Personally, I think the drops on Guardians are a bit more intense than Tower of Terror was, but I have absolutely no scientific evidence to back that statement up. LOL. Just me being like, "WHOA!"

And it can absolutely cause motion sickness, if someone is prone to it in an rapid up/down sort of situation. (I don't get motion sickness, but I have felt a tiny bit queasy on Guardians before. Not enough for me to stop riding it though.)

Is the Guardians ride in WDW different than in DL. I never got motion sick on ToT but man I just found it rough! Done it a few times and okay missing it now. But would go once on Guardians if still basically same (rethemed) ride to see it once.

The Guardians ride in WDW is called Cosmic Rewind and that's a coaster, so yes, very different.

It’s all about what makes you motion sick. I cannot handle spinning or motion simulators like star tours. But I can ride guardians all day long- the up and down doesn’t affect me at all. If you can do ToT, you’ll be fine on the guardians at DCA!

Same! I don't do GGR anymore because of the spins. Also, I'm an old-school Astroworld girl too. I loved that place.

I just don’t understand why there has to be so many spins. It doesn’t make the ride more fun!!!!

We took my sister and BIL to Disneyland for the first time last week, and he kept referring to Splash as the Bamboo Shoot. 🤣

I think they “seem” worse because you’re focusing on a stationary screen whereas ToT was mostly just in darkness.

Awww, the Bamboo Shoot!! So many memories. I'm also old enough to remember when Astroworld had its own characters in the park too. I remember being enamored yet slightly freaked out by the Marvel Mcfey show in the 70's. 1660766985918.png

My husband said the same thing. I don't ride that one ever so I can't compare.

I still think the most intense experience I've had in that building was when they did the Late Check-Out version of ToT which was 100% in darkness, but that's probably just down to personal experience.

It's probably all just down to personal experience. I joked on my last trip that while I love GOTG and think it's an awesome ride, I also breathe a sigh of relief when it's over. High highs will do that to you! LOL. (And yet, will still go on it multiple times per DCA trip if I'm able to.)
