This morning I attended the Mothers Tea at ds's preschool. I was greeted at the door by ds &, given a flower. He walked me to my seat, pulled out my chair and helped me sit down. In front of me was a teapot card and his old show filled with flowers. All the children sat across from their mom's and sang 3 songs. Tears.....

The kids made lunch for us. Chicken salad sandwiches, chips and fruit. They made pb&J for themselves. LOL! We had iced tea or lemonade to drink.

It was just so sweet to watch them all escorting their moms!

The one heartbreaker was the little girl who was sobbing because Mommy was at work and Grandma came instead. :( Poor thing really missed her Mom.

What a treat! Sounds wonderful!

This sounds so sweet. I would have felt all teary if I were one of the mothers.

It is a shame that one of the mothers couldn't come. I know she probably really wanted to be there and my heart goes out to both her little girl and to her.

AWWWW. How sweet. I feel for the little girl whose Mom couldn't come. I am sure the Mom's heart was broken. Unfortunatley, there are many times when a parent can't do something because of work. It is a shame that more employers don;t try to work WITH instead of AGAINST family situations.

It's also too bad that the preschool didn't try to do something at a later time or something so that all the parents had a chance to be there. I know sometimes that isn't always the best but sometimes for the kids it is!

awww, that's so cute!

I just came from the same tear jerker at DD's school. They escorted us(kids and moms all dressed up) in and gave us paper corsages they made, we had memory books with lots of writing and pictures in them. Then we ate the meal they prepared entirely by themselves yesterday. Then they sang about 6 songs, not a dry eye. THEN there was a slideshow set to music. I am STILL bawling. All the moms were at this one thank goodness, or that would have upset me too.

Even though I was right on time, I was still the last mom to arrive at my youngest ds's preschool tea. I still remember his little tear stained face.:(

I attended my preschooler's mother's day tea also. It was really nice. I was met at the door and given a crown to put on that she had decorated. She kept giving me kisses on the cheek telling me "happy mother's day tea". Priceless. She's been keeping soooo many secrets the last couple weeks on what presents I was going to get. It made me a little teary eyed as she will be heading to kindergarten in the fall. In some ways, I am ready for her to move on and in other ways all I think is my baby is growing up. *sigh*:D :D

Gosh, this reminded me of when my dd was in preschool. Mother's day luncheon.....everyone showed up.......including one child's DAD.....cause mommy was in the military and TDY somewhere else.....and he was fulfilling both jobs! It was very cool. He wore his corsage proudly and drank his "tea" like a proper mom would!!!

My DGD's came back to the US 3 years ago and I remember a Grand Parents day at school and my GDG being so surprised I was able to attend. Of course I would lose time at work to experience the smile on here face.

We had our Mother's Day Breakfast yesterday. I try to give the moms as much notice as I can so that they can attend. This year I gave the invitations out on April 7 for the May 9 breakfast.

We still had parents that couldn't/wouldn't come. This is the 3rd year we have this breakfast. Each year I send the notices out earlier, put up reminders, and call parents at home, in hopes of getting all 40 (2 classes) moms to attend. Yesterday we had 19 moms show up. Of course several kids were in tears and asking for their moms.:(

DS' pre-k "muffins for moms" breakfast was on Thursday. I am glad that I am not the only one who cries at these events. The children were so cute singing their songs. Out of a class of 16, 14 moms came. 1 missing mom was at the beach on a "girls' trip". I can't imagine sitting on the beach knowing my little guy was at school on "Moms' Day" without a mom.
