Several years ago I took a page from the "father's day handbook" and decided to make the day about ME
Took Mom to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory on Saturday night and we visited for several hours. Although she lives close by, I don't see her that often, we both have pretty busy schedules so if we spend time together once a month that's pretty good.
On Mom's Day, I got up and made myself breakfast while both kids slept in, which is pretty much what I expected. I then stayed in my jammies and watched Lovely Bones laying on the couch

. Had myself a small lunch, showered and putzed around on the computer and talked to friends on the phone....DS brought me some flowers and a card and DD gave me a book and book holder.
Mid-afternoon I met my longtime girlfriends (who also took a page with me several years ago after a particularly tough Mom's Day, lol) for cocktails overlooking the ocean. We try to actually sit outside normally but not this year

We finished off with scorpian bowls and chinese food, yum!
According to my sister, I have managed to reserve my space as the black sheep in the family ~ it would seem I'm the only one who didn't show up for the $30pp brunch I declined to attend. So be it, I had already made plans for dinner with Mom on Saturday and drinks and dinner with my gfriends for Sunday.
As she says "I never fail to disappoint"....can you believe I'm older than she is
