I personally love Carson. He's entertaining and talented and he amuses me. In a group of more minor stars, he's probably one of the biggest.

I know nothing about Chaz. I have nothing against him but have no special feelings about him either. If he can dance, bring it on!

I have to disagree with the bolded. The child of Cher and Sonny Bono has at least the public interest of the daughter of Sarah Palin. Like many others, I scratch my head at the loose definition of "stars" on that show.

As for Chaz, I admire anyone with the courage to public stand up for equality.

Weather you like Sonny and Cher or you like Sarah Palin, or hate them both or like one and not the other. You can't compare the 2. Sarah Palin was recent, Sonny and Cher have been gone for ages, Chaz wouldn't even be a blip on the radar if he hadn't had the surgery.

And I will say it again, I have n problem with what she/he did, but that is the only reason he is on the show. Someone said it on another thread about the same subject, this is all a ratings ploy nothing more, nothing less. But hey, I hope he does win, or at least does very well, but let's not confuse why he is one there.

I disagree. If Chas was still Chaz and wanted transgender to be showcased, he could still pull it off, so to speak . All it takes is the flair and the drive to be noticed. I was saying that Chaz could, indeed if he chose, be a contestant simply on his being transgender. I don't care that he is, his business and he seems like a nice guy too.

Not for nothing, as it's irrelevant to the discussion at hand, but I don't think he's actually had a sex change. He's obviously on hormones and had chest surgery but I think that's it.

As for the 'shoved down our throats' the media exposed it to begin with, with tabloids following him around way before he had any surgery.

Same as Warren Beatty and Annette Benning's kid, who is arguably much more anonymous - Chaz used to be on television as a kid, he was a known entity, I don't think most people could name Beatty and Benning's kid and yet there are stories published and circulated.

If a tabloid gets wind of something they think is scandalous, they're going to run it.

Ok, you got me on the MTV or VH1 thing, I never watch those either, but I was flipping channels. It may not have even been one of those 2. Anyway, yes you can change the channel, but he was on multiple and I do mean multiple shows like 20/20. It was all over the tabloids. I am one of those folks who lives under rocks and likes it there. I do not read tabloids, I do not watch 20/20. I hate talk shows. I honestly don't even know who most of the folks that are called stars are and don't care. I will agree that the producers will ask folks who are interesting to be a part of their show, they would be fools not to so so. If you think that the only reason that Chaz is on the show is the sex change that is your prerogative but I respectfully disagree with you. I knew that Chastity was struggling for years with her sexuality and that her parents struggled as well. I remember this because when Sonny Bono died there was still a rift between them and that rift was discussed because she was a child of a Congressman. It is reasonable that there would be followup on the sex change because of that. A child of a celebrity cannot escape their birth and their parents. If Chaz has decided to use his personal decision to go through with a surgery that is so difficult as an opportunity to let others in his position know they are not alone it is fine with me.

And why was he in the news? his sex change. Was well under the radar before this. I don't care why they consider him, I don't care why he is one there, I have no reason to wish him ill will. You seem to be the one fighting over it. Weather or not you allow it to be shoved down your throat is irrelevant, they are trying. It doesn't bother me that he had the sex change, so I watched some of the stuff because it was interesting, but it was on every time you turned around. I do think that with 24/7 news channels there is a struggle to compete for viewers and so it is possible to see the same thing over and over. When that coverage of someone then overlaps to a show that needs minor celebrities it may be natural to think that the reason for choosing one over another is the one specific tidbit of news coverage "you" remember. That is where we disagree. What you focused on and what i focused on are two different things for Chaz. I believe that the show does not care why you or I watch, the name recognition is enough. I pretty much agree with everything you said, and we can all discuss and argue to the end of times about weather or not Chaz being on the show has anything to do with his sex change.

What I did want to comment on, and this will probably be my last, (slumber party tonight, and I have way too much stuff to do) anyway, about living under a rock. The reason I said this, is because like you, I don't rea tabloids, watch news shows, or really get into what the celebs are doing. But SOOOOOO much info was out there about him, that I actually was VERY aware of it, and if I am aware of it, then they are really smearing it all over the place, because frankly I don't care what celebs are doing, I am too busy with my own life. But I will say it again. I have nothing against him, I hope he does well. But I don't eve watch the show, so I probably won't even know.

I disagree. He was on one of the weight loss reality shows earlier, before he had the surgery/made the change. So, he was celebrity enough then. Also, I don't know how old you are, but those of us who remember the Sonny and Cher Show, do remember little Chastity and some of us are interested in his current life.

I have never watched DWTS, but it seems to me that it was legitimate to have Bristol Palin on, too.

There seems to be a not so insignificant segment of the American population that rejoices in finding ways to declare themselves victims. "The media is harassing us! The corporations are trying to destroy our holidays! Those people are making us tolerate their marriages!"...and so on and so on.

It's really pretty simple. If you don't want to watch the show, watch something else-or turn the thing off. If you don't like what the company is doing, take your money elsewhere. If you don't want to have one of those marriages, then marry someone of the opposite sex.
