Sorry I'm late. I just breezed through a few pages of this thread to get the general gist of what's going on. I have to say, I'm shocked! If I'm understanding this correctly, Bono from U2 has decided to change his gender and is now being rooted on by Cher. Are they dating? I had no idea. And why does Bono want a sex change? Is it because Cher prefers to have a female partner? Doesn't he realize that no matter what gender he changes to, he will still retain his Irish DNA? On a serious note...what does Dan Gainor and his band of club-carrying townspeople think is going to happen if their children actually watch DWTS with Chaz or Carson Kressley ? They'll want sex changes? Or become gay? I see it as an opportunity to teach, at the very least, the concept of "live and let live."

At what point do we say no this just isn't correct. We have allowed almost every type of "lifestyle" to exist. There are still things we as a society view as wrong but when will those become ok? I don't think we are that far from seeing that happen, the way we are going. Bigot or not there is something wrong with this, to me. You are born female YOU ARE A FEMALE! Born a Male you are a Male. Whether or not mentally you can relate is another topic that needs someone with a PHD. I feel for theses people, I do. To me it still boarders on something mentality wrong like a misfire so to speak. "We" do not get to decide the legitimacy of anyone else's choices. Society cannot and should not limit the civil rights of one group because their sexuality, their gender, their color or their ethnic background. An individual can and should decide what is right for him or her but cannot and should not insist that that decision is right fro everyone. Just because you think it does not make it so.

I understand that you so not understand the physiology of this very complex issue, I don't understand how this can happen either. I do think that people more intelligent than I do understand and that these Dr's are more than capable of helping people whose bodies and minds have confused their DNA somehow.

I don't understand why this is so bothersome to you. Respecting that which you do not understand or that you do not accept as right for you does not infect you with that same "disorder".

I think that if you really wanted to understand how this can happen to people it would benefit you to read posts from the people who are trying to explain this to you. I completely understand where golfgirl is coming from. What worries me more is that int his small population so many attack her fro saying she is opposed to it. Hey golfgirl you are no alone, but you won't find many people post here because they don't want to be put through the ringer. I agree.

I think that you are entitled to think whatever you want. You can live your lifestyle any way that you want. You are not the moral authority for anyone else though. An individual is denied basic civil rights based on their sexual orientation is suffering the same fate as the woman who was told she was not equal under the law and had no right to her own money or a man of color who was told that he could not vote because the color of his skin was "wrong" It all is drilled down to the same little detail.....different equals wrong. When I was growing up, back in the good old days when we rode to school on unicorns that farted rainbows and there were no bad people ever, I didn't see the gays on TV. I didn't see any transgender people on TV. And I'm as straight as they come. So there you go.
