I was wondering if anyone has done the Mother-to-Be Massage at the Grand Flordian Spa? I am going to Disney for Christmas this year (week before, NOT after, LOL) and I will be about 30-31 weeks pregnant at that time and I am totally thinking about it. Wondering exactly what they do.. :)

Thanks!! :)

I can't answer your specific question, but I had a deep tissue massage there in April and it was wonderful. I am a licensed massage therapist in MA and have worked on many pregnant women. I do the session with the client lying on her side with pillows for support (first one side then the other). I work on half the back, one shoulder and arm, lots of work on the hips/glutes, then one leg and foot, then repeat on the other side. You absulutely cannot lie flat on your back, and those pregnancy tables with the belly hole are not really great for the ligaments. It's a very important time to get massage, as your body is going through so much. Have a wonderful trip!

I did, I did!!! I had the mother-to-be massage last year in Sept at GF. I was about 29 weeks prego. The massage was pretty good...I wish they had done a bit more work on my feet (which were KILLING ME) and my lower legs. They start the massage by "brushing" you all over with a stiff brush (sounds bad, I know, but it felt good). Then they did regular massage type stuff all over. They didn't spend much time on any particular place, even though I thought I asked to have my feet and ankles done a bit more.

They put me on my back for a short period of time, then on my side, then...beleive it or not...on my belly for a short period of time too. They put all kinds of pillows and towels around my belly so that I was supported.

Would I do it again? Maybe. I think I would probably opt for a 50 minute foot and leg massage instead of the 50 minute full body massage. It was quite relaxing, but I also remember feeling a little light headed when I was all done. Must have been all that relaxing!!

Enjoy your massage! And if you have any questions about being prego at DW, ask away - I was there for a week last year when I was 29 weeks prego!

I am thinking of booking this massage for our upcoming trip, and I was wondering if anyone else had any experiences to share. DH just called me a few minutes ago and said that he wanted to give me this massage for my Valentine's present. (He had gone on-line and done some research himself, which I think is really sweet, as he never helps to plan our trips. :lovestruc ) I was also wondering how quickly these book up. Our trip is coming up in a few weeks, and I didn't know if I need to try to book this now (if there are any spots still available) or if I could wait and do it when we get to WDW. TIA!

I had massages weekly for my pregnancies (due to back issues and siatiac nerve issues) and my MT wouldn't do the feet because it can stimulate contractions. We did agree that the day before my induction she would try it and see if it worked (we are friends), but I was sick with a wicked belly bug and was in no mood to be in labor that night!

I just booked this massage for our trip in early March. I also added on the face/scalp massage (anybody have any experience with that.)

I have heard about a possible connection between feet and leg massages and contractions, so I get that restriction -- but what I don't understand is that they said that this massage is only for women in their second and third trimester. Anybody know why? I will be almost 15 weeks at my appointment so it isn't an issue for me, but I was just surprised to learn that.

Also, interestingly, the GF SPA didn't require a doctor's note allowing the massage. During my last pregnancy, I had a pregnancy massage at Mario Triccoci, but I had to fax over a doctor's request first.
