I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to where to look for outfits for the Mother of the Bride/Groom. FMIL and I have been looking at local boutiques and at David's Bridal and it seems like everything is either way too frumpy or too skimpy. She is looking for a dress or shirt/skirt set that comes about to her knee and that has regular tank straps or something similar. Many of the dresses have spaghetti straps and she doesn't feel that will give her the coverage she wants (on the other hand she doesn't want to look dowdy though!) I guess a light jacket could be an option, but our wedding will be in Disney in July, so it will be HOT. Please help!

I've had success shopping with my friends of a "certain age" (i.e. mom age!) at J.Jill, Ann Taylor, and the catalog Boston Proper. J.Jill has more flowy loose stuff, Ann Taylor has a new special-occasion line, and Boston Proper - although it has some hot-mama stuff - sells Karen Alexander dresses, which are usually extremely flattering and come in long lengths.

My mom got her dress at Lord 'n Taylor. It was beautiful. Not sure where my MIL got hers....

i loved the outfits that the moms wore. my moms was very traditional yet i dont think frumpy. it was from the labelle collecion of christina wu. my mil wore a bridsmaid dress from bill levkoff. they both looked great.
