DD just got engaged.:cool1: Wedding not until 2010 so I have time:rolleyes1
The MOB dresses I've see so far I don't like. Anyone have pix of theirs?:surfweb:

Congratulations!

My DD got engaged in December and is getting married in Oct. 2009.

I agree with you on the MOB dresses - every thing I've seen is either too dowdy or too skanky!:scared:

Hey, I am going to jump in here!!! :yay:

HOWDY all MOB's and MOG's.

My DS got engaged in November and the wedding is June 27, 2009!!!

I would love to see MOG dresses as well!!!

Granted these dresses for my mom and my MIL are 11 yrs old, I was very pleased with their choices. My favorite movie of all time is Father of the Bride (the Steve Martin version) and I loved that the mom wore cream/ivory and wanted my mom to as well. Like the bride I wore sequined tennis shoes underneath my dress all day and loved being comfortable.

they both looked great! they even had dress drama of their own (i thought that was reserved for brides-not so!!!).

I had a really hard time with my MIL and what she was going to wear. Originially she wanted to MATCH the wedding party and wear a red top with black pants. DH told me to get over it at the time but then he brought it up to her. She ended up going with a bright blue two piece top and a tone on tone black strip pant (which matched the guys tuxes!) Conversly, my mom went with a silvery-green skirt/dress/jacket combo that didn't compete with the bridal party. It was more complimentary. IMO the best thing to do is to go nuetral. Then you look classic, elegant and simple with out overpowering or competing with the bride or wedding party.

Promomx2, oh, it's such a highly subjective item that truly depends upon your taste. If I were you, I'd throw caution to the wind and find an outfit that suits your personality, conventional wisdom be damned.

Okay, back to reality. ;)

This is what my aunt wore to my 20th anniversary FTW vow renewal:

And this is what my mother (and father) wore:

Honestly, I didn't care what they wore. The important thing was that they were there to share in the celebration of my wild & crazy marriage.

There are really an awful lot of lovely dresses out there. You don't have to stick with the typical Mother of the Bride sort of attire if that isn't your cup of tea. When it comes time for my children to wed (and my son is in college so that could be within the next couple of years), I know that I'm going to be absolutely panic-stricken. I hate shopping for clothing. I'm hopeful that I'll find something that suits my personality and doesn't embarrass my children too much on the happiest days of their lives. But I'm smart enough to know that my children won't care what I wear. They're used to my crazy sense of fashion style by now. They'll simply be happy that I'm there for them.

Promomx2, I wish you much luck in finding the perfect outfit for your daughter's upcoming wedding. As the date approaches, please let us know what you decide to wear. And by the way -- congratulations to your daughter. I wish her all the happiness in the world.

my mil is so funny. she said during my planning that her job was to

1. shut up
2. carry a purse
3. wear beige

she's so funny!!!

Thanks for all the posts and the pics. Thank goodness I have plenty of time because I can't find anything that I like that looks okay on me. And my DD doesn't like what I like and vise/versa. I keep teasing my DD that I'm gonna wear jeans and a t-shirt.:goodvibes Will keep you updated if I find anything. It's soo nice to have a place where other people share my angst.:grouphug:

Promomx2, when one of my best friends got married years ago, her husband refused to wear anything but jeans. His wife was okay with that, but she told him that he had to wear NEW jeans. He consented. Well, imagine my surprise when I showed up for their wedding amongst the redwood trees and not only was he wearing brand-spankin' new blue jeans, but also a black tuxedo jacket (with tails), a bow-tie, a white tuxedo shirt, and a cummerbund. He looked beyond adorable. His groomsmen followed suit. It was the cutest wedding party that I've probably ever seen in my life.

So, if you decide that you want to wear jeans, make sure they're new ones. The deepest blue you can find. They look dressier that way. ;)

I've got angst right now because if we go through with our 25th wedding anniversary vow renewal next year, that means I'm gonna have to go dress shopping. Oh, the HORROR! :scared1:

Less than 3 weeks until my DD's non-Disney wedding. I had a really hard time picking out a dress. She's only having one attendant wearing a tea-length dress. I picked out a champagne colored long dress with a short jacket. Found it at Dillards but Belk had a better price. Still think I probably should have picked a shorter dress..... No pictures yet...

i loved my moms dress it was from labelle. i also liked my mil's. my moms and heres were oppositre stlyles.
i will post pics when i get home

Sunshine: I really like you mil, where did she get it. I can't decide on a color until my dd decides on bridesmaids color and she can't decide that until BF decides on whether he's gonna wear his dress blues (marine).

DisneyDeeFL, where did you get married? the location is beautiful.

I'm not DisneyDee, but I can tell you that those pictures were taken at the GF hotel. Most Disney brides get their pictures taken there before the wedding. HTH!
