While it was a very nice thought to visit her son, is this woman NUTS???

I don't know if this was the best idea. I know that she was researching her book and visiting other places, I think it was not a smart thing to do. This may lead to more and more people going to Iraq to visit our military and could become very dangerous!

What do you think? I'm I alone here or was this woman not thinking!?

Can you just see it in the mess tent??...hey niiick, your mommy's here!

I understand her desire to see her son, but maybe not the best thing under the circumstances.

It's her choice.....nuts or not.

Maybe she just wanted to make sure he was eating his Campbells Chunky Soup :D

She's already home, but still very worried. I just saw an update on our local NBC affiliate.

I had no idea that she could accomplish this visit. Iraq seems such a dark, dangerous, faraway place. I don't know if this could compromise national security, I'd have to trust the experts on that. But as a mother, I can certainly empathize with her for wanting to see her son.

I totally understand wanting to see her son, I give this lady alot of credit.

I'm PETRIFIED flying from New York to Florida...I can't imagine THAT plane ride. They'd have to knock me unconscious for the duration of the flight or I'd be a BASKET CASE!!!

Yeah - there was an extensive article in one of the local papers about this. All I can think of is: "Nick, your Mom is here!" I dunno, I think my friends who have resurrected "Blue Star Moms" in our area are doing more good than she did with her visit.

Different strokes for different folks!

Being the mom of an Army Airborne Ranger ~
as much as I might want to see him, personally, I think my son would be embarrased that his mommie came to check up on him while at war. :o Plus, he would be very upset I put myself in harm's way. :(

I really think that soldier has enough to think about trying to do his job without worrying about his mom traveling around in a country like Iraq.

I agree with Keli. Her son has enough on his mind. He certainly doesn't need the added stress of mommy running around in such an unstable country.

The retired General who is a news commentator on MSNBC ripped her a "new one" on Paula Zahn last night. He pointed out how she could have endangered the troops. That if something happened to her they would have had to rescue her and that she was either "incredibly stupid" or doing it for political purposes. I was surprised that he was that harsh but I agree with him.
