Mother Daughter WONDERful Cruise Report - August 5 - 10th.

I have a 6 year old and yes...she is a great kid, but every now and then she has her moments...She is 6 for crying out loud!

The trolls need to chill and understand that everyone raises their kids differently, and that kids are all different.

How many of us can remember back to our childhood when we threw a tantrum and someone was there to get us back in line??

I turned out okay, and I am sure Maddie will be just fine!

Kelly, I enjoyed your trip reports and pictures...How special it must have been to enjoy this mother and daughter cruise! :thumbsup2

Maddie had a medical problem??? I hope she is ok! she is isn't she? ahh now i am worried! can't wait to hear the rest of the report! bye

....she is fine I promise. I'm worse off than she is. I'm the same way as a Gavin's Mom....I FREAK at blood and pain. Thankfully Maddie keeps the cool head for us both. :thumbsup2

She came into me yesterday afternoon following the pool with blood running from her mouth (Oh God no - ER here we come - is my 1st thought). Her only question was, "is this normal?" :rotfl:

NOPE it's NOT!

So I take a look and her into the bathroom we go where I start piling loads of wet washcloths in there. Then - pop - out comes a tooth. Problem??? IT WAS NOT LOOSE and not all of it came out. :sad2: Cfap crap crap!!

Oh yea, one emergency call to Dr. John the DDS and I am loading her up on Tylenol and running to get and antibiotic...and first thing tomorrow is a dentist appointment which will by no way be a fun one I'm sad to say. :guilty: My poor doodlebug.....no way to start her last week of summer vacation.

She doesn't know what she is in for tomorrow and has been a true trooper. We think she hit it at the pool when she fell and didn't really notice how badly until...well....the stinking blood. She's not complained once though. She's much better with pain than I am I'm afraid.

It's always something isn't it? Thankfully it's not hurting her too badly but with her front teeth already missing she's having quite the trouble eating.

So - no need to worry - but thanks for your concern. :grouphug:

I tried to get to the report today - honestly I did. I've had to get some work done since tomorrow will be spent at the dentist and home taking care of her afterwards. I won't be on here long enough to really write it....BUT I WILL IN THE NEXT TWO DAYS - PROMISE!!!

I want to thank everyone for the kind words about my report, Maddie, and the fact that children are indeed children. Some of you brought tears to my eyes several times over when I read them all. THANK YOU!!!! :grouphug:

SpideyHulk24 - You are right - there are true friends here. :wave2:

TiaMaria - You made me cry - thank you for your kind words and I'm off to get more R&R right now. :thumbsup2

- I'm so glad you and the boys liked the pics. I hope you have the BEST CRUISE!!!

mom_of_2_princesses - I completely agree! Children are CHILDREN not robots and NOT ONE is perfect! What fun would that be anyway. ;)

jrose529 - "She will grow up to be a wonderful young lady." THANK YOU!!! Being a mother is the MOST important thing in the world to me! I cannot imagine a moment without her and as she gets older I find I am enjoying her more and more. WE SHOULD BOTH be very proud of our girls!! :goodvibes

HollyTyler - My thoughts exactly - thank you!!! For the questions about getting the room attendant to deliver the Tink gifts...I simply pulled him aside while I had Maddie doing something in the room and explained to him what I wanted him to do. I told him to choose any 2 or 3 gifts each night from a canvas bag I had hanging on the closet door and leave them with the towel animal. He did one step better and had them on HER pillow. :goodvibes The canvas bag was small, and the hanger on the outside of the closet (knew this in advance thanks to lbgraves on here!) is too high for little one's to reach. I had also told Maddie before we left - do NOT get in this bag - it's travel papers (which = boring to kids so who wants to look anyway). :rotfl: Our room attendant Kirk did a super job and even I was surprised each night with her goodies that he choose. :Pinkbounc

lindaso, discruiselovers97, kimmcbee - THANK YOU!!! :grouphug:

SpideyHulk24
- Thank you so much and I am emailing you the pics. :thumbsup2

PrettyInTink - Seeing the "magic" thought a child's eye is the best part of the vacation to me.....that's what brings the happy tears. :goodvibes

Got to run....dinner and bath time here then....R&R for the night.

 Kelly

ahh thank you for the catch-up! We all were worried what happened! But glad to know that it is not something super bad that needed stiches! Great to Hear From You!

Just subscribing! :) Myself, DH, DD7 and DS6 are sailing on the Wonder in Sept for an 11 day cruise. I am SOO excited, as this will be our first. Kelly, where did you hide the presents from tink so Kirk (I think this is the name) could put them out? This is such a good idea!! Thank you so much for sharing! I am even more excited after reading about your adventures! :Pinkbounc

Just checking in here to see how princess: Maddie is doing after her dental surgery. I hope all went well and she is comfortable.

Also, I'm still looking forward to the rest of your WONDERful trip report - sooooo curious how the last dinner night went with your tablemates!

Wow, so I think I tottally missed out on the Captain's Reception, when was this held and how did you know about it? I thought the CC reception we had on the sea day at 1pm was it, never knew there was another party. Oh well.

Just finished looking at all your photos, lovely! You two sure look like you had a WONDERful time!

I started reading this post when it first started and got to about page 2. Tonight I thought I would read a few of the last posts to see what I missed. BOY! Was I shocked to see where this thread went!

All I have to say is that ANYONE who has kids, has had a child throw a tantrum. If you tell me that your child has NEVER thrown a tantrum then I would frankly say you're not being honest. Whether it is a "terrible two" tantrum or a sassy, over-tired 5 year old tantrum; All kids have tantrums. That's why there are a million books on discipline, shows like "Super Nanny", and school detention!

-Great report Kelly, Love the pic's!

I am LOVING your trip report! It has me so excited for our cruise in January!!!! As a pre-school teacher and fellow mother it seems to me that your daughter is ... NORMAL!!! Maddie seems like a wonderful little girl who is LUCKY to have a mom who loves her enough to give her discipline when needed along with a TON of wonderful memories!!!! Can't wait to read the rest of your report and I hope all went well with the Dental surgery! It is now 3 am ... I obviously got caught up in your report and need to go to bed. I look like THIS: :surfweb:
Blessings!

Uh... which trip report are you referring to exactly? ;)

I agree... eagerly awaiting the next installment!

....and I have now turned into one of the people who drag on and on with trip reports that NEVER END.

I'm so sorry. Like I said in another post - dental emergency with Maddie. She is fine now, but it took two days to get that way, then deadlines at work, getting ready for 1st day of school, and tonight a sleep over with numerous 6 year old girls in the house....reality has certainly hit home this week!!!

Thanks again for everyone comments and kind words. And especially thanks to 2angelsinheaven for that special note to Maddie's "boyfriend" on the ship tomorrow!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Day 4 CONTINUED, August 9th
DAY AT SEA

I picked Maddie up from the kids club, and no, she was still NOT ready to leave which made me the evil one pulling her out for dinner. :rotfl2: We headed down to Triton's and along the way had a few picture's with Pocahontas who she ran into on the staircase. :Pinkbounc It seems that seeing the characters roaming the ship like "normal people mom" means that they "REALLY ARE REAL AFTER ALL MOMMY!!!" Then the words I had been dying to hear - "I WAS WRONG - they are ALL REAL."

It seems that Maddie had started having doubts earlier in the cruise because lips didn't move, eyes didn't blink, and Chip and Dale had "saggy legs"....but after talking with every crew member I could corner and then seeing so many characters around the ship while it was just us she had a change of heart.

:woohoo:

MONEY WELL SPENT and more tears for Mommy!!! :yay:

After beaming from meeting yet another Princess, we headed into Triton's for dinner. I was so excited because I LOVE the escargot in this restaurant and only wish I had thought to order it in the other dining rooms! Oh well, next time. We walked in and our table mates were (yep - still calling them stuffy sticks ;)) already seated. This is where our server eared his tip for certain. So far nothing had been over the top or even memorable with our servers but when we got to the table and he had seated them to be certain that Maddie and I would sit next to each other....$$$ made. :teeth: I had spoken with him the previous night and ask him to assist me with this little issue and he certainly followed through!

Once we were seated we greeted SS's (ok - so I'm tired and have 6 year olds screaming at me left and right - so I'm abbreviating) and it was quiet as usual. Then, they spoke....TA DAAAA! They told us that they had not planned on dining in Triton's tonight but were hoping to get into Palo's. HUH? Guess they don't Dis since I knew a last minute ressie wouldn't likely happen on a 4 night - especially having been once. ;) They weren't as cold as the previous night actually. Something happened (aside from the fact that the 2 year old began climbing under the table and climbing up my leg! :rolleyes1 )....I ask if their son went to graduation and when they responded they thanked me for letting them know about it the night before! (insert fainting smilie here). I don't know if it was the wine, SS's froo froo drinks or the fact that it was the last night, but when I tried speaking on this night at dinner, it was actually reciprocated. Yup - no disaster - no flinging of food. For the most part dinner was actually quite nice. I still would not choose them for table mates, and if I thought all future table mates would be the same I would request a table for 2, but the last night was OK. I felt sorry for the son though. He rarely spoke, only if spoken to (and please don't tell me about manners, Maddie has great manners but can still carry on a good conversation) and even then was very withdrawn and quiet, almost seeming to seek approval. All in all dinner was much better and except for the toddler on my leg under the table, uneventful. The only really strange part was when they are done - they're done. No good night, have a good evening - they just simply all stand up and walk out. Only when we say good night and to enjoy the show do they speak in return. Oh well. Maddie and I stayed for dessert. :woohoo:

After dinner we headed up to deck 4 (I think that's right) to do what I had been dreaming of....we REBOOKED!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Later that night, Mike, one of the entertainer's onboard who had been playing with Maddie all week, ask her what her favorite part of the cruise was....she responded, "We booked another cruise for next year." :lmao: I think THAT RESPONSE was my favorite part of the cruise. If you haven't done this and dread long lines or anything of the type. Don't worry - it was a snap even though it was the last night. No worries - Rebecca was fantastic!! We booked the same cruise, although we had planned to do the 7 day next year (Magic is in the MEd - so NO GO!), for the same week and with our same great...we love it so much cabin! :cheer2:

After rebooking we headed back to the room to change clothes, get comfy and do a bit more of that nasty thing called packing, then headed back out to see Disney Dreams. When we were in the terminal on Sunday, a crew member told us that we would see Tink in this show. I finally remembered that you don't really "see Tink" just Tink's light and then pixie dust. I hoped this wouldn't disappoint Maddie as she was so excited - the child is all about Tink! We went into the show and grabbed the same seats we had throughout the rest of the week. Everyone else can have front row center stage - we can't seem to get there too early. We sat on the upper tier on the right hand side of the center isle and never once had a problem seeing. The other great ta da about the seats - you are offered drinks almost as soon as you sit down...so yep - one BBC for me.

Ok - mother of a child just came over - must go - I PROMISE I WILL FINISH THIS REPORT. It's just taking me a bit more time that's all. ;)

 Kelly

you're back!!! Hope Maddie is better and doing well. I, for one, am so excited to hear about the rest of your trip as I have enjoyed your writing so much...will keep checking back!

You're back Kelly!!! I'm so glad Maddie is doing well now. I hope she wasn't in too much pain. I'm glad SS actually responded to you. That was so odd. :confused3

I'm so jealous that you rebooked. DH would never go for that when we sail on the Wonder in April. :sad2:

I'm looking forward to your next installment.
