Mother Daughter WONDERful Cruise Report - August 5 - 10th.

ohh maddie couldn't use it because she wasn't allowed. It was not the right kind or something.

I understand that it wasn't the right type... problem is I didn't know there was more than one type. :confused3 I just don't want to go buy some that are "not right." Would that make them "left?"

I was wondering the same thing.....

I'm sure Kelly will respond shortly. Thanks in advance!

It's been one of those days here....and a slight medical emergency with Maddie (all is ok now - no worries!).

The snorkel that "Tink" bought didn't have a mask but instead came with goggles....I guess she wasn't thinking clearly and was too excited about the trip. :rotfl: In Tink's defence - the snorkel CAME with the goggles - she didn't purchase them. ;)

In order to snorkel you MUST have a mask!!! So, be sure you have both or you will be renting. Thank God Maddie just thought it was a great gift to bring back home to the beach and use.

I still do promise to get back to the report hopefully this weekend - likely tomorrow afternoon things didn't go as planned today.

ON ANOTHER NOTE

The only thing I have to say regarding Maddie's "fits" - and I will not address this matter again - period - is that she treated every single person on this cruise - everyone - with dignity, respect, and manners that I saw unsurpassed. She had ONE melt-down that was seen by positively nobody as it was in our own stateroom. My comments about people "paying money to make her hush" Ok - didn't happen - was a joke - nobody offered me money - nobody heard or saw a word. I simply will not tolerate backtalk or a snotty attitude - even when she is tired - THAT was the melt-down....most people understood that when reading my report. Kids (not robots) have bad times...as it seems some adults have "hot buttons" also.

Any person claiming to have seen my child throw tantrums of ANY KIND on the ship or elsewhere must have had a much higher bar tab than I thought possible on DCL. Or, perhaps they didn't have as good of a cruise as they could have and are now trying to find something to "talk about." At least while they discuss myself and Maddie it gives them something to do.

She gets mad, she has different moods, she has elation, she has tears, she has many many moods....as I do - as we all do (hopefully). There is nothing about her that is not normal. I also know that she would never judge another person - especially without knowing them or from simply reading a few pages of their life. Something a lot of adults have trouble with it seems.

I WILL NOT lower myself as to waste my time or the time of others by occupying space on this thread with negativity. For those who feel this is the only productive way to spend their time (and I feel sorry for you), I'm certain you can find others like yourselves on other boards. Fortunately - there aren't too many here that will cater, read, respond or even dignify your posts with a response (other than a bit of inside laughter).....and it doesn't matter if the writer claims to be a top notch mother, teacher, or Preacher. Being nasty is just that - being nasty.

I will not address this matter again - regardless. And I will return to my trip report tomorrow afternoon or evening.

Have a Happy Day.
 Kelly

Hope all is truely OK with Maddie! Sorry to hear you had a medical problem!

Anything happens with Gavin (ds4) and I usually Panic, I'm not real great at keeping calm & collected. Luckily he doesn't get freaked out when I do that!

I hope all is Well and take your time finishing the trip report. RELAX its the weekend Kelly!

Kelly

I just took the time to look at your pictures and they are all SO wonderful! Thanks for sharing them with us. Seeing them only made me more excited about Disney Cruise :) Maddie is such a cutie patootie and its really great to see a mother and daughter who have such a strong bond. I only wish that the bond with my mom had been like that! Maddie will look back when she's grown and realize just what a great mom she had/has. No doubt about it.

Keep smiling and keep sharing! Can't wait to hear the rest!

Kelly,
Your trip report has been very exciting and inspiring. Seeing the :wizard: magic :wizard: through a child eyes is priceless isn't it? You seem like the kind of mother who would do anything to please her daughter and ensure her happiness. Keep it up! That's what life is all about. Take care and God bless you and your family. And by the way, our ds16 and dd19 STILL throw fits! ;) Look forward to the rest of your report and I hope all is well with Maddie!

To begin with, I am a Pre-school teacher that has one student every year that think they will control everyone in the room. They throw fits as this mother wrote proudly, and frankly there is no excuse for this type of behavior! I do think she wrote a nice and informative review, but I think leaving out the fit throwing could have been done. I also read on another site from some others that took this same cruise and they also complained about the fits!!!! We all think our children are queens and kings but to take it to the point that they don't think they have to mind and to the point of making others miserable around them I can do without those queens and kings!!! Coming from a loving mother of 2 productive children that were and are accepted in society! And also a Pre-school teacher who has had a successful business and career for over 20 years and who is accepted and very well respected in my profession, town, church, and schools!
Thank you and God bless you!!!

this is the last time i reply to you because this sorta ticked me off. These little girls are exactly how i was. I am a teenager now and they are the ones who will end up being the leaders of our nation. I am now in 9th grade and the captain of the cheersquad, president of the school, in 5 committees, and in the leadership class. From being like this i really think being like that when i was little helped me be successfull. I know this message sounds strange but it is true. Every little girl is a princess but some of us let our princess out a lot more, WHICH I LOVE!! princess:

Hope Maddie is fine, your pics are great!!! Cant wait till the rest of the report. You are a GREAT mom. Being a single paret in teh past I know how hard it is to give great vacations. You are the best to do that for her.

i think that if someone can go this long with that is more of a child than i am. oh yeah i will treat my children when i have them the SAME EXACT way that kelly treats maddie!

Kelly,

Thank you for the quick response. I hope Maddie is okay and that the emergency is now a thing of the past. Thank you for all you do to stay active on these boards while balancing everything else that is thrown at you. And you know what, don't explain anything. We understand you and don't feed the need for trouble. You are a great mom with a super daughter.

Have a great night.

I've responded to you on this thread but it got deleted. You are new to this board so let me tell you that many people LOVE detailed trip reports that are outside the scope of "nice and informative review." We like hearing the bad with the good. We like the details of family dynamics. We are not here to judge the trip reporter, we're here to enjoy the report.

Now everybody, to prevent the moderators from closing this thread, can we please all get back to enjoying Kelly & Maddie's trip report? And if others don't enjoy it, they don't have to read it.

Kelly: I LOVE your idea to have "Tink" leave little gifts for Maddie and plan on doing the same for my son (4) when we go. I have already picked up a few dollar store items that he'll love. My question is: when you asked the room steward to do that for you, did you tip him ahead of time or anything? Did you give him all the items for the whole trip in a bag or something? Or did you give the items to him individually each day? Sorry for the dumb questions, just trying to make it work. But I can't imagine being able to get him aside to ask him without my son hearing. I'm sure going to try! Thanks for the great idea!

Hi Kelly,

I am so looking forward to the next installment of your trip report! I have thouroughly enjoyed reading every detail of your wonderful cruise. Maddie reminds me so much of my DD (17) when she was 6, except Amy had tantrums all the time, not just a meltdown now and then like any typical 6 year old has. I'm sure there were judgemental people who thought I was a terrible mom, but as much as I was embarrased by her behavior at times, I was and am so proud to be her mom! She is the light of my life and such a mature and wonderful young lady.

You sound like a fabulous mother and Maddie seems like a teriffic kid. She will grow up to be a wonderful young lady. :thumbsup2

Kelly,
Thanks for posting the links to your pictures. I got to see them and they are great. Maddie is adorable and you can tell she has a great personality by the pictures. Your trip report has been great I have never laughed and cried at the same thing so much before. I love reading about Maddie's ups and downs because it makes the report real. I get to say thank you my child is not the only one. :rotfl: These kids are staying up later than normal being way over stimulated and eating all sorts of stuff they don't normally get but we expect them to act perfect. Yeah Right! Don't leave anything out your report is great as 99.9% of us love it. :thumbsup2

Kelly,

Thanks for fixing the problem with the pictures. My boys LOVED them. I can't believe next week WE will be on the Disney Magic :cool1: I am so excited.

I too have picked out things for Tink to leave the boys. Can you help Holly and I with how you did this???? :yay:

You are such a great mom and I LOVE these reports!!!!!

God bless,

Jennifer

OK everyone...one thing I know for sure is that Kelly has a great attitude, real perspective, and KNOWS for certain that she is a GREAT mom and Maddie is a GREAT kid. I think I can speak for her when I say that she knows EXACTLY what the trolls are trying to accomplish: They are bitterly jealous and would like nothing better than to get this thread closed down. :thumbsup2

We are not going to allow that. DO NOT feed the trolls - just enjoy the report and respond only to Kelly. ;)

That being said...Kelly - I'm glad to hear that Maddie princess: is doing well and am looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip! :bounce:

Get some RnR this weekend, girl!

I'm with Tia!!! :thumbsup2 let's ignore the ugly trolls and enjoy a really terrific trip report from a really wonderful Dis'er!

Happy wonderful - beautiful Sunday to everyone!!! :sunny:

Hi Kelly

I just sat here and read all of your trip reports. Your pictures were awesome! We are taking our first Disney cruise in two weeks and your reports made us even more excited than before! I have a 6 year old DD who would get along perfectly with Maddie, it sounds like theyr'e cut from the same mold.

Thank you for sharing the magic! :cloud9:
