Mother Daughter WONDERful Cruise Report - August 5 - 10th.

Kelly~
Thank you soooooooooooo Much for sharing your trip with us! I'm doing a Mother/Son Disney Cruise in February and your reports have really inspired and gotten us so Excited to go! We are now counting the days till Cruise time, which is 178 days away. Not bad only 6 months to go!
Our last cruise we never made it to Castaway Cay (bad winds) so it was great to hear your detailed report about it.

Thanks for sharing!
Amy

I would like to see this thread that they are "making fun of her and how she LOVES her child". Because personally i think that she is doing great and i would like to see what they say b/c Kelly-i assume-is not a 3 yr. old. I think that she should just have a talk to these "stuffy sticks" lol. We don't need to be making fun of each other. I think you all need to act like mature adults/people!

I have so enjoyed reading your report, Kelly, because I keep thinking how Disney does a good job of meeting so many different needs. My 19 year old and I were at brunch in Palo's while your daughter was dancing on stage, and we all were having a great time. That's what makes the cruise so much fun; can you believe there's a place that can make older teens and younger kids both happy?

We saw Pirates in the movie theater after dinner at like midnight, and I do highly recommend that people take advantage of the movies. Again, something for everyone!

Tis too bad I didn't meet you on the dolphin encounter, as I do think that's the only time our paths crossed! Although, my teen was rather fond of the characters, too...

I LOVE your trip reports! :thumbsup2 They get me so pumped up for our 4 day cruise on the Wonder in April. :woohoo: Keep them coming!!!!

What's in a BBC drink?
And where did you get one during the day? Is there a bar by the pools?

Have you had a MiamiVice? I've heard thats good too?

Just Curious, Thanks!

isn't it great that we all actually have a CHOICE which threads we're each truly interested in reading and participating in? I have so enjoyed your daily reports...your happy moments and even the clenched teeth timeouts. (we all remember those moments) ;) ;) When I did our scrapbook, i recaptured each and every moment of each and every day on about 8-9 typed pages....it was so long - i never thought of posting it, but i'm glad i have it in the album. Also my 14 y/o didn't provide nearly the smiles/tears/or other magical moments, that Maddie did. Don't get me wrong - he had an awesome time and can't wait till our next trip - but you know teens - they're all 'cool" and grown up....even around Mickey & the Gang!!! Anyway - as many other readers have said....keep the reports coming - we're loving them as extended DIS family would!!!

Kelly & Maddie
I am enjoying your reports as well, I am crusing again soon and it is helping me to remember that the magic of disney is everywhere and for everyone if you are just open to the experience. We cruised when my DGS was only two and I had brought a special lunchbox full of goodies for the long dinners, just toys and stickers to keep him busy, well we were at Triron's and I had forgotten to bring it so we ordered dinner and walked back to the stateroom to get it. On our way back no one was around and then around the corner came Chip & Dale. :yay: :yay: The sat down on the floor and opened the luch box and played for 10 minutes, I had no camera with me so the nice women helping them out called a photographer and we got the greatest series of pictures ever!!! We went back to dinner and the main course was being served everyone was all worried about where we were!! :confused3
That adventure was great in itself however the real magic happened the next few days when we ran into other characters, we saw Timon and he started jumoing up and down, the women escorting him said " Oh you must be_______ and said my DGS's name Timon is so excited he heard you were playing with Chip and Dale last night and he wants to know if you have any toys. DGS pulls a truck out of his pocket and he and Timon are crawling all over the floor racing cars, and there was a line of people to see him. We felt so special and it kept happening with the other charecters, they all knew his name and were so excited to see him. This is just one of the amazing things that has happened at Disney. We have been lucky enough to feel the magic every time we visit the parks and on the cruise. I am a preschool teacher
( the good kind) and always enjoy watching the wonder in every child's eyes. Thanks for sharing your magic with us and thanks for being the kind of Mom that reaches for the stars and watches them shine in your daughters eyes.

Wow! Beautifully said!

Kelly...I just love Maddie princess: ...feel like I know her (and you too). You are just so good at writing and expressing it all. I wish I could do that...I think I'm kinda boring.

Enjoy the age she is at (even with the little pouts and fusses)...soon enough they grow into teenagers...yikes!

Hope to read your final installment soon! :sunny:

Hi Kelley :) (Did I spell that right?) LOL

GREAT trip report. I actually had tears a few times reading it. I've never been on a disney cruise before but I sure want to now! I don't have kids but I have a fiance (I guess he could be referred to as a kid hehe) and we're planning on doing a disney cruise for our honeymoon :) Can't wait for the final trip report!

xo Sarah

Me and Elousie my DD4 LOVE reading this report.

We are cruising the same time as Kylie and Nicole ( Mdavidson) so our girls are sure to meet up and dance some time! Though Elouoise doesnt do classes, so she might just jig around! :rotfl2: Who cares, so long as its fun :sunny:

As for people who want to ruin it for you, and us who all enjoy reading your story. Ignore them, I bet they are jelous!

Please dont leave us waiting toooo long for day 4.

Kelly I am loving this trip report! My daughter is also a dancer. I have been reading the report to her and when I came to the part of the dancing competition she went nuts! ""Mom, how long do we have till we are on that cruise?? I want to join the competition!!!" I absolutely adored your pics! You and I are so alike....PURE SHUTTERBUGS!!!!!

Ladies and gents, let's just let the original poster get on with her very fun trip report. Don't bother with replying to any posts made from an account that was created just to come to our fun forum for bad purposes. There isn't any real substance to those posts except to stir up trouble. Thanks.

CONTINUED from 4th Day - August, 9th
DAY AT SEA

I don't have a lot of time right now but I'm going to try and get a little more done on our day at sea report. :thumbsup2

For the question about the BBC. It's Kailua, Banana's, and colada - YUMMY! You can get them at any of the bars on board and yes, they all know what it is. I learned about it on the Dis. There is a bar by the pools so you are set for relaxing with BBC in hand. :drinking1

_________________________________________________________

After we finished up with lunch, dance competitions etc. on deck 9, we made a trip down to Shutters. I had bought a package on the first night and just transferred pics around all week when I saw one's I wanted. It was a great way to do things and keeping up with them daily is MUCH better than gong in there on the last night when the place is a ZOO!

The same woman, Jaimee, was there that we had worked with all week. She was the original person to tease Maddie about being Dale's sister. She was so FANTASTIC! Somehow when we came in she always knew where our photos were and was always such a help. Maddie adored her as they always played around together. Of course we had to get her pic too before leaving! :teeth: I rounded up the photos I wanted and left Maddie to take a seat in the floor with my bags to take a breather while I went over all the pics with Jaimee. Maddie had wanted ALL the photos but of course THAT can't happen so I was hiding some for Jaimee to toss. I almost died when she pulled out a folder and placed all those pics in it saying, "These are from me. Always enjoy them." :faint: :goodvibes I almost died right there! Instead you know I started getting lumpy in my throat. I LOVE and I mean LOVE photos. Photography is my favorite hobby and if I had the $$ I would have bought all the pics on board, but at those prices - not possible in this lifetime. For her to give us those photos made them even more special. I finished up with the pictures for the package, grabbed Maddie and after a few more minutes talking to, thanking, hugging and then finally having to say goodbye to Jaimee we were on our way to shower and change for the Disney Sea Grad.

Back to the room we were in rush mode....why does the time to get ready sneak up on us every single day! We saw Kirk and he led Maddie inside the stateoom. He had created another towel animal for her in the middle of the afternoon. Did I tell you I LOVE THIS GUY!! Maddie is amazed with his talents and thinks that he is prure MAGIC!! So, after promises from Kirk that we would see him later and this wouldn't be the last time...and hugs from Maddie, we took some pics with him and say goodbye.

We then scramble getting ready and then I shoot upstairs to take Maddie to the kids club for the graduation. I thought we were running late. They had already taken the kids so we had to head over to ....ok - don't even remember where but they were all getting dressed. After running to the theater I felt much better because there were only a few people there waiting for them to open the doors. Once opened I was amazed that I had front row seats - I thought we were so late but seems the timing was perfect. :cheer2:

Maddie didn't participate in the graduation last time and she was really excited about it this cruise. I knew this place would be PACKED with parents and about a million kids on stage. I was so right. This place was a madhouse within minutes! The kids stared filing in on either side of the stage (so when you go - remember after the speaker to look BEHIND you for the kids to enter - not through the stage itself) and I was determined to find Maddie.

Oh boy, you know what happens when 500 or so kids many about the same size are all wearing the same long shirt which covers their clothes, and add to that the same huge head covering HAT WITH EARS? YOU CANNOT FIND YOUR CHILD!!! :rolleyes1 Crap crap and crap....100, 200, 300, .....all the kids were on the stage at this point and I STILL could not find Maddie. Looking on stage was just as hard because with them all sitting you could not really see anyone unless it was one of the younger children in the front. Oh geesh! I had Maddie's camera only because I had to delete some to free up memory in mine and no tome to do it before the show...so I had very little wiggle room for taking pics that I didn't want. I looked and looked but finally decided, oh well, she's up there, she is having a ball. She can probably see me so just smile at everyone on stage clap and look for her when they exit.

The show itself really is cute and the kids were all so excited - especially when Mickey and Minnie came out. I really wish I could have seen Maddie's face - but I knew she was having the time of her life anyway. They sang with Mickey and Minnie, there was a short speech and poof! It was over. Everything on this day almost brought tears to my eyes because it was our....sniff sniff last day.

When the kiddo's started leaving the stage I started searching again for my Minnie. FINALLY!!!! I see her walking across the stage and down to the isle. She saw me and her eyes were just beaming!!! She loved it!

I make my way back up to the kid's club to pick her up. TIP ALERT HERE!! If your kids participate in the show - do NOT go pick them up for at least 30 minutes. The place is a ZOO! I went directly in behind about 100 other parents again looking for our kids in a huge mass of others. I saw her and her face just dropped. :guilty: "What's wrong, didn't you have fun honey? It looked like you did."

"I DID. But I DO NOT want to leave yet! Please leave Mommy and let me stay a little longer, pleeeeaaaase!!!" So I made my way though the parents collecting their new grads and off I went for about 30 minutes. Sadly though, I didn't go play about the ship or even grab another BBC. Nope, I went back to the cabin to do a little of what EVERYONE on the ship were all dreading yet must do today - PACK SOME. STUPID STUPID PACKING!!!! :sad2:

ANOTHER TIP!!! I actually did this and it helped so much!! On the last day - starting with when you get up...start packing a little bit each time you go into your room without fail! It was so much better than the last time when we all crammed into the room at 10pm stressed to the hilt for the 11pm cutoff. Plus you get to enjoy more of the last day without that looming over your head and worrying that you won't get it done...because like it or not, it does have to go at 11 that night. Mean old DCL people - they make you LEAVE the next stinking day and actually let others on YOUR ship!!!

_______________________________________________________________

I've got to get back to the real world - lots of work to do. Reality really does stink sometimes. ;)

Lindy Loo - Who cares how your DD dances - she will have a BLAST!!!! :cool1:

eeyorefan80 - Congratulations!! Your honeymoon is going to be the most memorable time of your life!!! ENJOY EVERY MOMENT!! :cloud9:

ChrisLei - If I had kept all the pics I took - I would have needed a bus to carry the memory cards home in. I take them EVERYWHERE...but I guess you could tell that. When you sail, take 5x the batteries and memory that you think you will need and ENJOY!

suz72 - You are so sweet! I don't think I want a teenager!!! :scared1:

Babs417 - I hope I am still taking vacations when Maddie is your DD's age!!! I think that is so great! :goodvibes

nani
- "Thanks for sharing your magic with us and thanks for being the kind of Mom that reaches for the stars and watches them shine in your daughters eyes." That is beautiful - I'm going to remember it!!!! Thank you - and I can tell you are a super kind of preschool teacher. ;)

bstsuda - :grouphug: "keep the reports coming - we're loving them as extended DIS family would!!!" Thank you!!

jrose529
- I hope you all have the most magical cruise! Say hello to Tink for us. :teeth:

GavinsMom
- You and your son are going to have the absolute time of your life and will become close than you thought you could. Enjoy and don't let the tantrums (which will happen) get to you....they will pass quickly I promise. And that is what the kids club is for!

SpideyHulk24
- Thank you so much for your kind words - ENJOY YOUR CRUISE!!! And I think I'm pretty lucky too. On some days Priss Pot may not think she's so lucky though. :rotfl2:

discruiselovers97 - :lmao: Nope - NOT 3 years old by a LONNNG shot I'm afraid. Thank you!!

If I don't get back to the report tonight then I will finish it up at some point tomorrow.....I promise.

Everyone have a GREAT AFTERNOON!!!!

Wow I would make a comment but anything negative seems to be taken off this thread. lol too bad everyone can not express themselves on this board only a select few are allow to it seems. On another board this thread is being made fun of really bad.

I find it sad that you felt the need to post that. I have read many of your posts and you don't normally come across as cynical. The post that was deleted was a personal attack on the OP not a negative comment about the cruise or DCL. I believe people are entitled to DCL negative reviews but to pick on a virtual stranger seems childish and unnecessary.

I do not believe that the DIS was set up so you and/or others could judge people and how they choose to spend their vacations.

If you felt it was such a bad report you could have chosen to ignore it. Same goes for the others that feel the need to "make fun of" a single mom trying have quality time with her child.

I normally do not "feed the trolls" but as I said, I have seen many of your posts and you do not normally exhibit troll behavior.

Kelly-from one single mom to another: Bravo! Looking forward to the ending and the stuffy stick people :lmao:

Kelly - I'm happy to see that you are continuing your report and that you aren't letting a few negative people get to you.

As for other boards - there are many out there. Some (but not all) who post on them are unhappy in one way or another and some (again not all) would rather put someone else down. IMHO it isn't worth worrying about what someone else says on another board. You have gotten some great feedback here and many have enjoyed reading about a special time that you shared with your daughter.

Sorry you didn't click with your tablemates. Sadly it happens. If you get to sail again may I suggest you hook up with some fellow DISers and link dining. We've done that on our last 4 cruisers and have had a great time on each one.

Kelly,
What a truly wonderful trip report :thumbsup2! I have looked forward to each and every installment and can't wait to read the rest.

You have inspired me to keep a journal on our trip in December - the time with our children goes way to fast - our DS turns 12 in February and it seems like just yesterday that we took him to WDW for the first time.

I so loved your description of the stick people :lmao: - I can't wait to see how dinner goes on night four!

Keep the magic alive :wizard: !

What an awsome report!!! I would love to do a mommy daughter cruise. I don't think my hubby or DS (9) would go for that though. :) We did the 7 day Western on the Magic in July. How I wish we could go again. We had the best time. Your report has brought many smiles and even a few tears to my eyes. We had alot of "magical" moments like you did. We thought we were the luckiest people on the cruise! :thumbsup2
