Mother Daughter WONDERful Cruise Report - August 5 - 10th.

Thank you so much for sharing the details of your trip. You are a great writer and I loved every bit of your report.

THANK YOU for ALL the so kind words - some that have made me cry (BIG shock!). :goodvibes

I have a slight favor of you all if you have a second to spare.....

......please click on the link below and vote for Maddie's picture in this photo contest for "childhood adventure's". It is a picture of her during our cruise while having a BALL at the sail-a-way party. It was such a magical trip for us both, I had to enter it.

Kelly,

I spent another entirely enjoyable lunch hour today reading the last chapter of your report. Wow! :sunny:

Maddie is such a great little girl. I know I would have reached my breaking point long before that last day was over - and for her to take it all in stride - what an awesome job she did. Hugs to her. :grouphug:

I too, laughed my head off when reading about the Ss's rebooking on THE SAME CRUISE!!! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: OMG, however did you keep a straight face? Get that seating request in early and often, LOL!

I hope that you print out this report for Maddie to read someday in the future, or have it written in your journal the same way you told it to us. When she is older, and can grasp your feelings about her, the two of you together, and how PROUD you are of the person she is and the person she is becoming, it will mean the world to her. What a great gift you can give her one day. I know, I know you are probably saying, "SHE is the best gift I could have ever been given" aren't you? OK, now we are both going to cry!! LOL!! :goodvibes

Thank again, Kelly and I hope you and yours are all safe from "Ernesto" these next couple of days.

Kelly,

Great trip report!

It reminds me of the season finale of any favorite show. I am so excited for it to come..eagerly anticipating...waiting patiently...can hardly wait...and when it is over it am so sad that I have to wait until next year or the Fall season or whatever.

Loved it all!

Voted for your picture!

Just placed my vote...when i copied the link into the browser - it put the VO back in.....GOOD LUCK Kelly - and thanks for all the smiles!!!!

We had fun in the morning at Castaway Ray's, and the lunch was yummy (especially the cookie dough ice cream, and I don't even LIKE ice cream!), but that beach was not worth all the effort to get there.
!

I couldn't even imagine not liking ice cream. :confused3 I could live on it. Sometimes, we surprise the kids and have ice cream for dinner! It's especially nice living here in Phoenix!!!

Tink left several things. Most of them I....ummm....I mean Tink found at the Dollar Store.

Princess Pencils
Frisbee
Glow sticks and glow jewelry for the pirate party
Bubbles
One of those rubbery spiky balls
A snorkel set for CC (WATCH OUT - the one I got couldn't be used there :guilty: )
Pop rocks candy (which is one of her FAVORITES)
Packs of gum
Goggles

I picked up stuff for months anytime I would find something at the $1 store that I thought would work and then I narrowed it down when it came time to pack. Things I left behind will work great for the Tooth Fairy or just as a treat now and then.

I hope your sons have a GREAT TIME!!!

I, too, love your ideas. I told DH about them and how I want to do that for the kids. Doing it for DD (who will be a week from turning 4 by our trip) will be no problem to purchase for. It's DS (13 at time of sail) that will give me trouble. But I like your dollar store idea. :woohoo: I also want to pack their carry-ons for the flight with some special surprises. Saw some really cute Disney Princess sets today that would be small enough to take with us. Thanks for the idea!!!!

Hey Kelly! I had considered doing your great idea of leaving little gifts every day for my son (but his would have been from Pluto or Goofy), but at the last minute decided he doesn't need 7 days worth of new stuff. So I modified your idea slightly. I had bought him a new pirate outfit this past winter because I knew his one from last cruise wouldn't last until this one (which we're currently on) because he wears it a few times a week. I had been planning on giving him the new outfit the night before we left for the cruise. I didn't want him to have it beforehand because he would have worn it out! :rotfl: Well, I ended up sneaking it in the suitcase and when he was in the kids' club the first night, I ran back to the room, laid it out on his bed, and wrote a note to put next to it that said, "Tyler, I hope you have a Magical pirate adventure. AAARRRRGGGGGHHHH! Your friend, Captain Hook." He went ABSOLUTELY NUTS when he saw it and I read the note to him! All week long, he's been telling everybody on the ship how Captain Hook knew he needed a new pirate outfit and snuck into our room to leave it for him! So thanks to reading about your idea Kelly, he's one happy pirate! :teeth:

What a cutie pie!! I actually had to look at your location because your son is identical to a little boy in my DD's class. He must have a twin in Myrtle Beach.

Was it not the most fun seeing his expression and seeing the excitement when he saw the gift and realized it was from Capt. Hook? pirate:

I'm so glad you were able to pull it off! :thumbsup2

I had a blast picking stuff out for Maddie. I've had to promise myself NOT to start on the next cruise until sprin or we would need a boat to haul all the garb from "Tink" home.

The best part is seeing how excited they get...especially when they tell others on the ship where there gifts came from. Maddie has told all her friends at home about all the things "Tink" gave her.

Just to make it a little more real and to keep the magic alive, I sent a postcard home from the ship with Tink on it. I wrote a note to Maddie that said, "I saw you on the ship and I loved your pink dress and purse with my picture on it. I hope you liked all the gifts I left for you and I can't wait to see you again. Love, Tink" The child almost died!

Have fun shopping and planning....then enjoy every minute of magic on the cruise!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

We sailed on the Wonder for our first time in 2004. This was the first time Maddie and I had gone without additional family though. We're now in the stages of planning cruise #3. :woohoo:

I too am never on the cruise board, but saw a link to this report in one of your replies on another thread.

I have read the whole report and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. And the pictures were wonderful!!

I am so glad you and Maddie had such a magical Mother/Daughter vacation together and created memories to last a lifetime for both of you. :)

I have to tell you I just loved your trip report. Your little girl sounds so much like my daughter when she was that age. My daughter read your TR as well and she just loved it....she said to tell you that your doing a great job just like her mom did with her! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful trip with us.

:goodvibes Thank you! That was so sweet of your dd to say!!

I hope your cruise is amazing and all you dream it will be.

Hi Kelly! I just read the entire thread, and I am kind of glad I just found it now, it eliminated the waiting! ;) Maddie is so cute, and reminds me a LOT of my daughter, Kaylee. She is 6 too (7 in October). They seem to have the same personality! It almost felt like you were writing about her!

Loved your pictures too! Since you can't book a 7 day cruise on the Magic for next summer, maybe we'll cruise together on the Magic in August 2008! :thumbsup2
