Mother/Daughter trip reviews Aug13-22 updated 9/26 complete with final analysis

Was the strawberry salad at the wave just strawberries, greens, and dressing?

It had walnuts, cranberries, greens, strawberries, and some type of cheese. It was a decent size salad, with a triangle of flatbread type bread. Dd really like the salad alot.

Enjoying your reviews!

My DD 12 and I will take our first Mother/Daughter trip in January, using TIW, dining at a lot of the same place as you so I'm very interested in your grand total...

Thanks, there was basically no menu description of it on All Ears, but it sounds pretty good, I may have to try it.

So today we were off to Epcot, after riding Soarin, TT, MS, and TT again, DD decided she was ready for a snack. We stopped at the little cart between Mission Space and Test Track, DD had a cheese Danish and a bottle of water, I ordered a bran muffin and a bottle of water. The pastries were both fresh, DD inhaled her Danish and ended up finishing my muffin also. They hit the spot and off we went again.

2 Pastries $3.00-maybe $1.50 each
2 water $5.00
Tax $ .00
Total $8.00

A couple hours later, we were hot and thirsty so we stopped at a little cart near Canada and ordered a couple of frozen lemonades. They were not the usual, and are labeled as Fruit Tea Blast on the receipt. They were cold and hit the spot on this hot August day although a little pricey.

2 Fruit tea blast $9.50
Tax $ .00
Total $9.50

Total OOP $308.98

We had the best time and I really can't wait to do it again. I feel this is the perfect age to take these trips. It gives us one on one time without the guys so that we can talk and do girlie things. I hope you have a great trip with your DD.

We had a 2:00 ADR for Chefs De France. It started raining at about 1:30 so I decided to see if we could check in early. I checked in and they said it would be a few minutes. We waited maybe 5 minutes and we were seated. DD was really looking forward to the macaroni and cheese, she also ordered a house salad and orange juice. I ordered the onion soup and an iced tea and told the waiter I would share DD’s macaroni, as I knew she would not eat it all and I was not super hungry. The soup was very good and very cheesy. DD ate her salad and said it was very tasty. The waiter brought over 2 bowls of pasta and placed one in front of each of us, I questioned him about sharing with DD and he had misunderstood. I assured him that this was not a problem and DD and I ate our entrees. The sauce was very creamy and just the right amount for the pasta. It is very rich and very filling. DD and I probably ate about one quarter of the dish. This is a very large serving. Our waiter had come back by this point and told me he had removed one of the entrees from our bill, I assured him that this was not necessary, but he insisted it was his fault. DD wanted dessert so she ordered Chocolate mousse cake with vanilla ice cream. This was a dark chocolate cake, with a mouse like frosting. Very rich, too rich for me, I had one bite and couldn’t eat anymore. DD ate about half the cake and all of the ice cream. We were able to see Remy while we were waiting for the check. It was a very nice lunch and we will definitely return.

So DD wanted to meet Beast after lunch so while she waited in line, I ran back to the kiosk and grabbed a Grey Goose slush to sip while we waited. This is one of my favorite treats in Epcot, slight taste of lemon, cold and refreshing.:thumbsup2

Grey Goose Slush $8.92
Tax $ .58
Total $9.50

At about 6:00 we were in Norway and a little hungry so we decided on a snack from the Kringla Bakery. DD chose Worms and Dirt, and I chose a Cloudberry Horn. We both had some ice water. I'm not sure what DD's fascination is with this dessert but she loves it and devoured this one. The cloudberry horn was crispy, flaky pastry filled with a sweet cream filling. It was very tasty and filling. I would definitly choose this again.

Cloudberry Horn $3.09
Worms in Dirt $1.99
Tax $ .34
Total $5.42

Total OOP $365.28

So after finishing World showcase, and riding TT and Soarin again, we headed to Sunshine Season for dinner. It was about 8:00 and it was pretty quiet here. DD ordered a chicken ceaser salad and I ordered the ham and salami grinder. We shared a Strawberry shortcake and 2 ice waters. The salad was fresh looking, DD said there was too much chicken but she liked the lettuce, dressing, and croutons. My sandwich was very good, I could not eat the whole thing it was just too much. The potato salad tasted a little strange, not bad, just strange. We could not wait to taste the shortcake and we both dug in at the same time. We were not wowed; it was okay but not great.

Chicken ceaser $8.59
Ham salami Grinder $8.89
Strawberry Shortcake $3.99
Tax $1.40
Total $22.87

Total OOP $406.68

Up next Main Street Bakery for lunch

So we are off to MK for morning EMH, after riding most of the rides in Fantasy Land and Space Mountain, DD I grabbed a couple of bottles of water and headed toward the teacups, they were down today, the CM told us it was because of rancid tea. So we got in line for rope drop for Toontown. DD wanted to meet the fairies, Mickey and ride the Barnstormer. After this she decided it was time for lunch. We headed to the Main Street Bakery. It was packed. After about a 20 minute wait, we ordered a ham and Swiss sandwich and a turkey and Swiss sandwich with 2 ice waters. Both the sandwiches were huge and come with lettuce and tomato on them. DD pulled about half the turkey out of her sandwich and ate almost the whole thing. She said it was very good. She never eats turkey at home so I was really surprised that she ordered it and that she liked it. My sandwich was very good too. We did not order any sweets here because DD had seen the ice cream shop next door and said she wanted ice cream for dessert. So after we ate our sandwiches we headed next door. She ordered a Fat Free chocolate and vanilla swirl in a dish. WHAT??? :confused3She said she needed to watch her fat intake while we were here, um okay, I guess I’ll have the same as she is having. Nothing like making me feel guilty while on vacation! The ice cream was surprisingly good for being fat free. It was creamy and cold, and we ate every bite of it.

Thanks for te reviews. how great to spend this time with your daughter.

So you would go back to o'hana? it didn't seem like you really liked the food. We have an adr next month for dinner - it will be our 1st time eating there.

Our dinner tonight was at Cinderella’s Royal Table. I have wanted to dine here for awhile, but DS will not do Princess meals, no way no how. So since he was not here DD said okay. We had a 5:30 ADR and after a quick trip back to the resort to change and freshen up we headed back to the MK at about 4:45, we walked over from the Contemporary and DD decided she wanted a tiara for her hair. So we walked through the Emporium trying to find one. She found a small one with red jewels in it and got in line to pay. She looked very cute with her tiara and off we went toward the castle. We checked in about 5:15 and were given a ticket for our picture with Cinderella. We waited about 5 minutes, had our picture taken and then headed upstairs. We were seated after a few minutes. DD started out with the cheese plate and I had the castle salad. DD’s cheese plate had 4 cheeses and accompaniments. They were typical kid friendly cheeses and she ate them all, did not care for the accompaniments. The castle salad was mixed greens with gorgonzola cheese, dried cranberries and vinaigrette. The greens were fresh and the contrast of the cheese and cranberries was very good. We both ordered the prime rib of beef with grilled asparagus and duchess potatoes. The beef was melt in your mouth tender and very tasty with the sauce that was under it. The asparagus was grilled crisp tender and was very good if you like asparagus. The potatoes were okay. They were kind of cool so I only ate a few bites, but DD ate most of hers. We were both impressed with the entrée as most people say the food is only so-so. Dessert was not the Chocolate cream cheese buckle that we were expecting. It was a chocolate mousse with a raspberry sauce and was very light and chocolaty. We both just about licked our plates clean. I asked our waiter if I could apply the TIW discount to this meal even though it was prepaid and he said no problem and took the card and went off to take care of it. Overall I was very pleased with this meal. We were seated at a small table next to a window that overlooked the Carousel. The princesses each commented on DD’s tiara and were very sweet with her. I was expecting it to be rushed where she was older, but I feel that it was worth the cost to eat here and would do it again if the opportunity comes up.

2 adult dinners $89.98
TIW discount $16.68-
Tax $ 4.77
Tip $13.83
Total $91.90

Total OOP $522.29

I loved the salad, the wings, the steak and dessert. That was plenty of food for me. DD is kind of picky but said it was mostly good. We liked more than we didn't. I have heard that you can ask for shrimp that aren't as well done, and I would do that next time, the flavor was good, but it was very hard to peel the burnt shells off.

At around 8:00, DD was thirsty so we stopped at Westward Ho and grabbed tow frozen lemonades. She really needs her daily fix of these while we are here. We then scouted out a place to watch the evening parade.

2 Frozen Lemonades $7.38
Tax $ .48
Total $7.86

Total OOP $530.15
