Mother, Daughter and Sausage Dining Review! Final Meal - Complete 9/27!!

Olivia's was already on my radar for lunch or dinner next trip and those pics definitely moved it up!

Only thing I'm not sure of is the white beans in my pasta, both in terms of the flavor and the texture of the dish. They are a new addition to the pasta entree that had previously been on the menu there. Would you say they were a major component of the dish? Or were there just a few scattered throughout it, such they could simply be pushed to one side?

Great start Tracey. We ate at Olivia's a few years ago and had a really great meal. That dessert must be new, though, as I don't remember seeing that on the menu.

Looks fabulous :thumbsup2

Those potatoes look to die for!! So yummy looking!!

I'm interested in what you also thought of CSR. I know its a dining review but I am staying there in 6 weeks!

Welcome back Tracy!!! Those potatoes look amazing!
Devin also takes meds that diminish his appetite & he is really looking forward to all the good Disney food as an "adult" but I tend to believe we'll be sharing quite a bit!!

Just joining in! Great thread!

The white beans in the pasta were definitely something I hadn't tried before but somehow they worked. I know that there weren't too many in there because my DD would not have liked that. She pushed them too the side and didn't touch them and they certainly didn't give the dish a "bean flavor". I liked them though!

The dessert was definitely great!! It was so great to see you last week Joh. I wish we could have stayed longer but we'd been waiting for that Soarin FP for quite a while. :guilty: But I'm so glad that I was able to meet you and enjoy a drink!

I liked CSR a lot but the food situation wasn't the greatest for us. One is a buffet and we aren't real big fans of buffets. Another is a sit down restaurant and it was Mexican food (which Eilee doesn't like). And then there is a fast food type place called Cafe Rix which is very, very tiny with few options. But that is just my opinion because I have a picky eater. The resort itself is very pretty and we loved going for a walk in the morning. I paid for a preferred room closer to the main building because I didn't want to walk very far to the food/bus! :rotfl2: And it worked out well for us as CSR is quite large and spread out. We didn't use the pool so it wasn't a bad thing that it was far away from us.

It was quite a juggling act because I wanted Eilee to be able to enjoy the Disney foods too. She usually takes her meds right away in the morning but twice she slept in late, we went to our lunch ADR and she took her meds after lunch. But then on the day when we went to Cali Grill I wanted to make sure that she took it early enough that it would wear off by the time we got there. It's a lot of work making sure that your child can pig out! :rotfl2:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! The food isn't too much of a concern as the week will be there I have quite a few ADR's booked.

How was your experience with the buses? Did they fill up and did you have long waits?

Sorry... I know this is a dining review...

Hi Tracy! :wave2: Welcome back! And I'm very impressed at how quickly you have started your reviews. ;) Thanks for the preview pics/updates and I can't wait to see the rest of your pictures and hear all about your trip!

Oh, and those potatoes look very, very yummy! :thumbsup2

Welcome home! Those potatoes look heavenly! My oldest son too takes medication that alters his appetite, so it can be sometimes tricky food-wise. Great idea to share! :thumbsup2

Our experience with the buses was just fine actually! The first time we went to bus stop number 2 and then it goes to number 3, number 4 and then number 1. So if you want to make sure you have a seat then go to number 2 and if you don't want to stop at three other places, then start at number 1 (which is right by the main building/check in). After the first time we just went to number 1 and we never had an issue getting a seat. Our room was right by the main building so number 1 was easy for us. We never seemed to wait very long either so we had a good experience here with buses!

My problem is that Vince is going hunting for a week and a half on Wednesday and he's taking the laptop with him!! :scared1: So I'm trying to get a little done before then. I guess if I can at least get the photos uploaded I could squeeze in some updates from work. (shhhhhhhh!)

joining in and can't wait for more.

Glad to have you along!

It was tough because many times we're not hungry at the same time or she gets hungry late at night (see next review coming up! LOL!)

Hello Tracy!! I hope you get to try the cheesy potatoes as they are amazing! And you also have to time your snacks just right - you need a snack that is small enough to make sure you don't get hangry but not too large that it spoils your next meal! It's a fine line! :rotfl2:

Those cheesy potatoes sound really good. I might have to see if I can work Olivia's into my ADRs.

Great start Tracy! I love the hangry term - makes perfect sense!

I've had my eye on Olivia's for breakfast but I don't think I've seen a lunch/dinner review. In any case, the potoatoes do look creamy gooey delicious! And that dessert definitely looks worthy of a good fight over it! :thumbsup2

BTW: I agree with you about the bus being freezing! I kept a sweater in my bag for the times that we had to use the buses. Can't imagine if I had to get on one of those buses after being caught in the rain and was wet.

In the words of Eilee "ERMERGERD"!! These were so amazing!! I realize that they don't look so hot but trust me, these were one of the best single items that I had at WDW. If you're looking for something light - this isn't it. They were full of cheesy, thick, creamy goodness. Eilee and I ended up clashing forks over these. Miss I'm Not So Hungry suddenly turned into a ravenous beast when it came to this. :confused3 I could have made a whole meal out of these potatoes (and in turn I'd have gotten clogged arteries).

:lmao: You crack me up, especially with the "ermergerd!" part! But those potatoes look and sound like heavenly comfort food! Slightly lethal, but still heavenly! I've never been to Olivia's, but it looks like a nice place to get a homey kind of meal!

Welcome! I'm going to look online right now for a recipe for these potatoes!:thumbsup2

I thought that Olivia's breakfast looked good too! We didn't have any room in our schedule for a breakfast so I thought I'd try lunch/dinner. I'm so glad we did because it was a nice comforting meal right after arriving at WDW. Just what we needed! And yes, the bus was so cold. I was very glad that it wasn't frigid in Olivia's. I think I'll have to follow your lead and pack a sweater in my bag.

Definitely some comfort food at Olivia's! I haven't had any luck with the recipe for those so I might just have to experiment.

And yes, my daughter talks like "ermergerd" all the time with her best friend and now I can't stop doing it too! :rotfl2: But those potatoes definitely deserve the ermergerd rating!

This is just a small review to finish out our first day at WDW. We kind of had a late lunch but early dinner at Olivia's so sadly we weren't very hungry around dinner time. We decided to head to Hollywood Studios for the evening as it was EMH there. After a while I just wanted a small snack so I ended up getting a bag of Stacy's Parmesan & Garlic Pita Chips and a Coke. 9 times out of 10 Eilee says that she's not thirsty and ends up drinking the majority of my Coke which is what happened here.

We went on all of the rides that we wanted to and it was getting pretty late. But Eilee stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the Turkey Leg booth.
She informed me that she would like to "nom on a turkey leg" and I honestly thought that she was kidding! :confused3 So I asked her if she really wanted one and she said yes. So I ordered one for her, and nom on it she did!

A turkey leg is really not something that interests me but she was in love with this turkey leg. She was ooohing and mmmmming all the while she was eating it. Who knew? We walked out towards the buses and she still had some left. I was so tired and just wanted to get home so I made her throw out the last bit it of because there was no way I was going to let her take this turkey carcass on the bus with us and she was so angry with me! So I promised to get her another one at some point before we left (sorry to say that it never happened). But she said it was smoky and juicy and was her new favorite thing.

Up next strudel and Flame Tree!

I am such a bad Mother since Daniel, too, wanted to "nom on a turkey leg" and I wouldn't get him one :guilty: I know there are those who rave about them but I don't understand the fascination, I'm afraid. It's all a bit too 'Fred Flintstone' for me (yes, I am aware of the irony in that statement) ;)

I haven't ever tried a turkey leg (dark meat isn't my favorite, and they just look so messy to eat), but it doesn't surprise me to hear that it tasted good. I'm glad that Eilee enjoyed it! :goodvibes
