Mother, Daughter and Sausage Dining Review! Final Meal - Complete 9/27!!

This was the item that tied for first with the funnel cake. It is sweet corn ice cream with a hot honey butter bacon topping!
1fair2.jpg

Oh man this was soooooo good! I almost got another cup of it. The ice cream itself was not overly sweet and contained some corn nut type crunchy things and the hot topping made it amazing!

Um.......is it too late to cancel my next WDW vacation in favor of a trip to the WI state fair instead? That looks insane!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Hope you have a great trip, Tracy!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I will be thinking about you tomorrow morning and look forward to receiving that celebratory text. :thumbsup2

I second the good luck! With the storm shifting more west, maybe you will be ok getting in! It has been dark & dreary here today with son wind and on & off rain. I have to admit that I really like the weather. Not too hot with a constant breeze but I feel bad saying that because others will suffer from Isaac. (Haiti and New Orleans!)

Poutine

They look very different from the poutine we tried at Le Cellier last year - where they were very thin over-cooked french fries.

[Then I had some deep fried, cream cheese filled pickes with ranch
I am practically tasting those things along with you :thumbsup2

I think this red velvet funnel cake with cream cheese icing may have been the winner for today or possibly a tie

that looks amazing - now you're making me hungry :lovestruc

Next we had deep fried Spam bites.

English school dinners circa 1980 :rotfl2:

Next we had cheeseburger sticks.
 oh yum yum yum

This was the item that tied for first with the funnel cake. It is sweet corn ice cream with a hot honey butter bacon topping!

that sounds like the weirdest combination but looks amazing

Have an amazing trip and hope Isaac keeps out of your way

I"m glad you liked the state fair update! You should fly here from the U.K. sometime and go with me! ;)

I'd like the Spam bites too! Spam is a breakfast staple in our family and I had no idea I was supposed to not like it until I was in my teens! Everything looks awesome. One of these days I've got to get to the MN State Fair.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and I hope that Isaac (who will always be the Love Boat bartender to me) stays clear of the World and your flight path! :woohoo:

Spam was on the menu quite frequently at our house too while I was growing up. Mmmm...fried spam and spamwiches! I would love it if you and the kids could come for a visit to WI/MN sometime. I think you would all love the Mall of America!

Maybe if I picture hurrican Isaac with Isaac from the Love Boat's face it will seem a lot less menacing. I hope it fizzles out before it makes landfall.

I could definitely point you in the direction of some excellent food here! I know where you can get the best Juicy Lucy ever!:thumbsup2

Thank you!! I'm just about to head off to bed so we can get an early, early start. Will be in touch!

Thanks for the good luck vibes!! So far so good. Has the weather been ok enough to have fun at the parks?

Have a great trip! That red velvet funnel cake looks AMAZING!

Thank you - it was amazing. I've been craving it all day long!!

Have a great trip!!

These were to die for!! I hope they get those eventually at Disney!!

I agree - I'm tempted to go back to the fair just for this!! I just wish it didn't cost an arm and a leg to get in! And I couldn't ask for a better trip. It was so much fun!

I was nervous about the weather up until the time I got to the airport at 5:45 am to see that our flight was on time! Our flight was smooth but when we landed it was raining cats and dogs but I was fine with that as long as we were at WDW!! We checked into the first of our three resorts during this visit, Coronado Springs. Our ADR for Olivia's was originally supposed to be around 5:45 (or something like that) but we were hungry NOW!!! So a CM helped us to change it to 2:30. It was around noon and we knew we needed a snack to hold us over until then so I had a blueberry muffin
Day1_Muffin.jpg

Eilee had vanilla bean gelato
Day1_Gelato.jpg

Both were very good and did the job of holding off that hangry feeling (if you don't remember from my previous reports, I tend to get hangry if I wait too long to eat - which means that I'm so hungry I'm angry).

When we hopped on the bus to Old Key West it was still raining and it was fairly cool out. As a matter of fact we nearly froze to death on the bus. The bus made so many stops that I thought we might be late! But I shouldn't have worried about it because when we walked into Olivia's, this is what it looked like.

Day_1_Olivia_s.jpg

You will see that on several occasions, Eilee and I ended up splitting a meal so I should probably explain that Eilee is on a medication that affects her appetite and we had to be a little creative at times. It wasn't because I was being cheap! :rotfl2:

There were quite a few things on the menu that looked good to me...and of course I forgot to take a picture of it. Eilee said that she wasn't so hungry so she would just eat some of what I was going to have which meant that I had to order something she would enjoy and that ruled out some of the things I would have gotten!:sad1: So I chose Olivia's Pasta Creation

Day_1_Olivia_s_Pasta.jpg

It was penne pasta with white beans, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and summer squash in a light garlic cream sauce. It arrived already split into two bowls which was nice. It turns out that we both loved this dish! The sauce was indeed light which didn't overpower the fresh vegetables. Eilee ate a lot more than I thought she would (and even some of the veggies!)

And now I shall continue my review of Olivia's with two words my friends...OLIVIA'S POTATOES!!! I saw that these were a side dish to a few of the dishes on the menu and I asked our server what these were and she said that they were heavenly cheesy scalloped potatoes. Now why wouldn't I try something that was described as heavenly?? So I asked if I could get a side of those and she said of course!

Day_1_Olivia_s_potatoes.jpg

In the words of Eilee "ERMERGERD"!! These were so amazing!! I realize that they don't look so hot but trust me, these were one of the best single items that I had at WDW. If you're looking for something light - this isn't it. They were full of cheesy, thick, creamy goodness. Eilee and I ended up clashing forks over these. Miss I'm Not So Hungry suddenly turned into a ravenous beast when it came to this. :confused3 I could have made a whole meal out of these potatoes (and in turn I'd have gotten clogged arteries).

And finally I leave you with a Banana Bread Pudding Sundae

Olivia_s_Banana_Bread_Pudding.jpg

When I first dug into this bread pudding it seemed a bit dry to me. But then I realized that there was enough sauce in the bowl to keep spooning over it and when combined with the ice cream it was wonderful! I love how the sauce turned into a hard shell on top of the ice cream. Just like that Magic Shell stuff I used to put on ice cream when I was little or a Dairy Queen dipped cone!

When we arrived we were a little bit frustrated over the super long bus ride, I was hangry, it was raining and we were cold. But by the time we were done it had stopped raining and this meal had put us in a great mood for the rest of the night!

Our first meal of the trip at Olivia's deserves a three sausage rating. It may be because I was hangry but I think it was just that good!

welcome home and a great first review - can't wait to hear about the rest and also what you thought of each resort :goodvibes:

Glad you're home safely, and Olivia's sounds great! To me, everything you ordered sounds delicious. Now I have to find a way to fit this place in sometime.

Great review so far! I am glad you had fun on your trip.

My sister keeps using that Ermergerd thing...What in the Heck does that mean?

I just texted her and she said it means "Oh My God" in a funny voice?? haha teenagers are weird..

I went to the fair on Friday! It was fun but crowded, I have fair food pics in my pre trip report linked on my signature!

OMG, hun, were the cheesy scalloped potatoes scooped with an ice cream scoop?! :faint:

I'm dying to hear about your next eating adventures!

Olivia's is a great place that's off the beaten track. I love their breakfast!

Thanks! We had such a great time. Even with Eilee on her phone a lot! :rotfl2:

You should at least find some time for those potatoes!! :thumbsup2 Apparently 2:45 isn't a very popular time to eat there. I'm hoping it gets hopping a little more around dinner time!

Eilee talks in that "ermergerd" way all the time and now after this vacation she has me doing it too! We saw a skunk in the road last night on our way home and I found myself saying "oh no! Skernk!" :rotfl2:

I'm definitely going to check out your state fair pics! I have to work tomorrow but I'm so tempted to go back one last time. But I don't think my heart can handle it! :lmao:

Yes, I do believe they were scooped with an ice cream scoop!!:rotfl2: It does look like a dessert to me. I must find the recipe for these!

I really did enjoy our meal here and I'm so glad I tried it! I will definitely put breakfast at Olivia's on our list for the next trip!
