I have a friend that has a convention in October and cannot afford the $239/night price tag for the rooms here. Can anyone tell me the motels/hotels that are close by???? She will be flying in with no rental car, so will have to walk or catch a taxi/shuttle and some of her meeting start at 7:30am.

Can any of you help me?

TIA

WARNING!

The MOWC was the only place where I have ever been "busted" I booked an AAA rate for a convention. The convention "management" contacted me and "Informed" me that IF I stayed there I would be "swapped" to the convention rate LOL! The conventions have "quotas" and they will compare the lists!

SKIP THE NICK, it's not much cheaper for a much lower product. And really you are still going to need a car, it's a HIKE from the road to the Marriott..

That is absolutely amazing - and completely arrogant on the part of the convention management. I go to A LOT of conventions and frequently get better rates than the listed convention rate (AAA, Gov't Rate, AARP, hotel frequent stayer clubs, etc.). If I had someone contact me and tell me that, I would be really hot. I realize there was nothing you could do about it, but I probably wouldn't be attending that conference again. That's a lot of nerve!

this is a big hotel and not that close to the street.

the Nick holiday inn is across the street.

not too much further - she will need a taxi from this one.

buena vista suites

there is also a pink hotel - will try to find the name for you.

Thanks for the help, Spiceycat......

I checked the Nick and the cheapest I found was $249 per night. The Buena Vista was $120 x 1 nt. and $98 x 4 nts. Much better - of course, there would be transportation charges to add.

Thanks, everybody.... I gave her the information from Mousesavers about the Buena Vista Suites for $99/nt and wished her good luck. Told her that was the best rate close by on short notice. :thanks:
