Most Romantic (but not pricey) Disney Restaurants

Hello, folks. I have been to WDW over 35 times, but this is the very first time going as a single woman, and now with a new love. Yes -- years of the hubby and kids -- now I am doing Disney romantic-style with a new beau!

I have been to most restaurants (going there as a business traveler) but my new boyfriend hasn't been there in 20 years.

We will most likely be going to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM Studios this time around. I would love your advice for what you feel as the most romantic restaurants that are NOT super-pricey. No dress-up places. No five star restrurants. But ones with personality and fun. We are both people-lovers, who love restaurants where the servers have fun with you.

He is also a Southern boy and likes good comfort food, so I was even thinking of the Hoop-de-Doo Revue.

Oh, we will be there the 3rd weekend in May, BTW.

Your ideas are appreciated. Please let me know your recommendations and WHY you think so.

Well, I love going to the Polynesian for dinner. The resort screams romance...and the restaurants are screaming with people. Kona is lovely with nice dinner choices, open dining room where you can see passers-by from your table (and vice versa). O'Hana is right next door, a buffet style dinner with open grills and lots of staff interaction. Very family friendly...lots to look at and smile about. (Various wood carvings make for good photo op's too!). The shared bar can get busy but is a nice way to kill time before dinner. The best part, the romantic part, is timing your dinner in accordance with Wishes at Magic Kingdom....oh yes! After dinner, you take your cocktail down to the beach and watch the fireworks with the man you love. It's one of our traditions. p.s. attire is anything from dressy to mickey mouse t-shirts and shorts. No shoes required in the sand though.

Well after years of going as a couple (12 years no kids) we did plenty of great couples places. Now we are with toddler so things are different. LOL.

MK area I think Kona for this atosphere and a walk out on the beach for wishes. Ohana is good too but more family oriented.

Epcot - Rose and crown pub for the fish and chips or Chefs de France. Both are great for couples.

If not Hoop dee doo you might like WCC same type food and antics without the show. It is just OK to us though.

The wave the new place at CR looks interesting or GF cafe.

Another great choice might be Jiko for heavy appetizers and some wine.

Take him on the Monorail Loop to each of the 3 deluxe hotels for drinks and appetizers. You could also take the boat from the Contemporary over to WL if you wanted add a 4th.

End up at Cali Grill lounge and watch the fireworks!

OK... I may get laughed off the page, but from what you just described, the first restaurant to come to mind would have to be the "50's Prime-Time Cafe' at DHS (Disney Hollywood Studios - formerly MGM). IF he puts his elbows on the table - he's "toast" ! (LOL !) Good food, great fun and not expensive, even with drinks ! Second choice would have to be the "Sci-Fi Din-In Theater", also at DHS. "Kona Cafe'" at the Poly. is nice and so is "The Wave" at The Contemporary for MK. And EPCOT - if you like British food, the "Rose & Crown" Pub can't be beat for fun ! P.S.: I'm with my THIRD WIFE now, and I've been where you are.... ENJOY ! ! ! !

We are eating at Tony's Town Square in the MK for our anniversary dinner. We love the Lady and the Tramp theme, and we wanted to be able to go right out to Main Street to watch the parade/fireworks when we are done eating.

The following day, we are eating at Ohana at 9pm- hopefully we will either be able to catch the fireworks through the window, or will have time to run down to the beach.

I really like this idea! You can take your time and have a drink and appetizer and each hotel and then explore the hotels as well. A nice relaxing evening chatting with CM's from all different places. Make sure to look for the water parade!

One question though...can you get into the Cali Grill lounge without a dinner reservation?

Request a table by the water at San Angel Restaurante. It's relatively quiet inside the Mexico Pavillion and it's nice to see people gliding by on the Fiesta Cruise as you dine. Not too expensive either. Depends on how many magaritas you wanna have

I am placing a vote for Tokyo Dining!
You can get a table by the window that overlooks the lake. It is dimly lit, beautiful deco, and the servers are wonderful.

I second this recommendation. If you can make your reservation for during Illuminations, the place will be almost empty. (We did this last trip and it was a very nice, relaxing meal.)

Many of the restaurants listed above are fairly easy to get into. W/o knowing which you would prefer, it's hard to say whether or not you have a chance of getting in at this late date. I would try calling though, even down to the last minute. Walk-ins are pretty rare.

This would be lovely, except the San Angel Inn will be closed in May for refurb! We tried to book it for May 23 and no-go...CM said will be closed most of May.

Doing Disney with a new Love is the best! Everything feels like the first time when you have somebody special to share it with ... regardless of what you pics you are going to have a wonderful time!!!

DanenRox, IMHO, made the top suggestion with O'hana!!! Here's what you do!

FIRST, call reservations or the Polynesian and find out if and when the Magic Kingdom will be having a firework show. Once you have the time for the fireworks make reservations for O'hana for about 30 to 45 minutes prior. When you arrive at O'hana ask the receptionist if it would be possible to get a window seat ... tell them that you are willing to wait!

When the fireworks start they dim the lights in the restaurant and pipe in the music from M.K. and you watch the fireworks as you eat! VERY NICE!!!

Is O'hana the cheapest restaurant that I could suggest to you? No, BUT I think that it is worth every penny! Even without fireworks O'hana stands on it's own as a GREAT place to eat! Friendly staff, it's all you can eat so take your time and enjoy ... and there are so many different foods they bring to the table; from shrimp to beef to pork to salad, to rice ... OMG!

I STRONGLY recommend O'hanas to everyone that I talk to ... it's my favorite restaurant by far!

Regardless of what you decide I hope you have a truly enchanting night with your S.O. ... and be sure you make it back here and tell us how everything went!!!
