Most interesting item you bring from home?

Penny-presses in the parks. Having your pennies and quarters all lined up and ready to go sure is easier, especially with 3 or more kids clamoring over the machine, all wanting your change! (And money just never seems to hang around in my pockets long at WDW, so it's best they have their own!!) :)

Besides that, we always make sure the pennies are clean, since that's the "canvas" for the eventual souvenir! We used to use only pre-'76 pennies (supposedly all-copper), but the kids actually like the look of the new, shiny pennies once they are pressed better!

LOL!!! The only meal we cook is breakfast (sometimes). MAYBE once or twice we have had a Ragu and spaghetti meal, just for something different, but, for the most part, it's MY vacation too, and I don't want to have to worry about cooking!
I always bring a fitted sheet because I am tall and HATE that they don't use them. This makes my bed so much more comfy!
I, too, have brought an over the door shoe bag and it works great!
A collapsable cooler is a must too, because you can take it to the pool.
As for hangers, I used to bring them until I discovered that one phone call to Housekeeping, and you can get all the hangers you want!

Putting things you're going to eat in empty film canisters is a risky business. The chemicals they use in the original film are VERY toxic and it don't really pay to take the risk.

What about the APS canisters? The film is completely sealed inside the cassette. Those were the type of canisters I was refering to in my previous post.

You can also use the mini M&M containers

That's what we use for quarters! They fit perfectly!

I always bring my GPS receiver and antenna. We start it at home when we leave for the airport, use it on the plane, on the drive from Sanford to WDW, and whenever we're out and about at WDW. It fits nicely in a polo shirt pocket, so we can even use it wandering around the parks.

Of course, to go along with the GPS, we need batteries and charger, laptop, etc :D (Yes, I'm the guy in front of you at security, taking forever to get through :( )

We take our stainless steel thermal french press -- it's great for coffee on the balcony. We've also started taking a collapsible cooler -- very handy for poolside or at the beach (Vero).

Well, this info was passed along to me by this guy I know who works for Eastman Kodak. I was telling him that, a long-distance hiker, found them very useful for little bits of things, especially since they are lightweight. He got this very serious look on his face and told me it was a bad, bad idea for food to reside in these cannisters - even after you wash them. Something about the plastic they're made from and acid in food, and leaching. . .

So that's what I know. Your mileage may vary. . .

and we leave in less than 48 hours, and get there in only a little more!!!!

I always pack numerous tarsh bags. I separte out our laundry as we go along. Easier to start the laundry when we get home. I will probably never wash clothes whiel i'm on vacation unless we need to.
Since you are new to DVC, I pedict this will change! It is SO much easier to pack WAY less and stick a load in the washer every other day since it is right there in your room. We usually pack so light, we don't have to worry much about what we chose to wear! I figure no one knows us anyway, so if it looks like we are always wearing the same thing, what difference does it make? We DO pack lots of shoes though. I like to have at least 2-3 pairs so my feet don't hurt so much.

THIS year I'm bringing an ice cream scoop! What good is a freezer without an ice cream scoop?! Last year we had to use the spoon that's big enough to deliver a baby, and we got flat slices of ice cream.

I bring a steak knive from the set my brother got me 25 years ago. I don't know where he got them, but they'll cut through anything. Also a small baggie with small screwdriver, tweezer, twist-ties, 2 AA batteries, paperclips, safety pins, clothespin, etc

What is an M&M container, anyway?!?! Last time I looked (a while ago) they came in bags.

The M&M container is for the little bitty M&Ms (or should I write m&ms). You can get them at the checkout where all the candy bars and bags of regular M&Ms are.

I always take a pack of those Clorox wipes. Sometimes I need to wipe out the tub or sink in between housekeeping visits. I also take extra washcloths. I bought a pack of cheap colored ones at Walmart, like 12 for $2.50. That way they don't get mixed in with Disney's white ones. I HAVE to have a clean washcloth to wash my face both morning and night.
