We have a 3 day hopper pass from a package we purchased but are only staying 3 nights (so 2 full days of the park). Would it be better to use the 3 ticket on Sunday afternoon/evening when we arrive or try to squeeze in a couple hours first thing in the morning on the Wednesday when we check out? I was figuring on the Wed morning due to EMH but now I am thinking maybe the crowds are thin enough in the evening to get more value out of the additional time we would have on Sunday (6 hours compared to 3). I also am considering the value of a more relaxing check as well as the eagerness of the children to get in there!!! We have 2 Boys 6 & 9 and will be there on August 21-24. Any "veteran" opinions would be appreciated. Thank you!!!

We were there during this same time last year. Our first day in the park was Sunday. We did an afternoon break and returned to DL at 5:15pm and stayed until midnight. During that time we did 9 rides, ate at Rancho, had ice cream at Gibson Girl, and did pin trading. In short I'd go for 6 hours on Sunday vs 3 on Wednesday when you are on a set schedule to leave for home.

Definitely Sunday. The excitement is there when you first get to Disney. Plus, with 3 extra hours the magic morning isn't going to make up for it. It can get crowded then too.

Agree with the other posters. Go for 6 hours on Sunday. You will be able to see Cars Land at night (so cool!) and maybe ride RSR. If FPs are still available, and they might be, you can see WOC. That would free up your other nights for PTN and fireworks (always good to have a backup night for fireworks in case they get cancelled). Main Street will be open one hour after park closing (I think BVS does this, too) for shopping, so that could be a good time to do some preliminary souvenir hunting, especially if you want to grab 60th merchandise before the celebration ends.

Sunday for sure! you don't have to go commando- this is perfect for wandering; get your bearings; map out a plan for the next day. WE did this last time we went; it was nice because it was honestly the only day I didn't have a plan for and we ended up doing a lot of great stuff. Like RSR at night! It was great; definitely recommend it. :)

Something else to consider...if you want to do the Haunted Mansion, you MUST do this on Sunday because it will go down on that Monday for two weeks to get it's holiday overlay. This may sway you more towards Sunday if it's a must do for your family.
