Are they bad in the parks? I don't recall the last time we visited ever being bitten, but we're from NE and the EEE and West Nile have hit us up here...just want to be cautious and pack enough DEEP WOODS OFF...ick!

We were there in July and I don't remember a single mosquito ever. Not in the parks nor at the hotel. Have a great trip!

I was surprised that when we were there last week and and staying at the BWI that we got bites several times in EPCOT and in the Boardwalk area. No EEE tho! I know why you worry as we are also in MA and just about an hour away from where that 9yo boy contacted EEE and recently died.....so sad.. :(

And last year they were a bit nasty over near Fort Wilderness when we went to Hoop Dee Doo Review.

We have West Nile here too, several deaths so far again this year, but in all my trips to WDW I honestly can never recall any mosquitos there.

As my husband says, "Disney doesn't allow bugs on property".

But yes, there will be an occasional mosquito or biting insect that will come. I wouldn't worry about it but if you want to bring the repellant, go ahead. I don't think you will need it.

I don't recall them being bad in past trips. But we are normally hanging at the resort or DTD from dusk on, so I really can't answer for the parks.

If you are more comfortable, bring the repellent. Peace of mind.

I was at the MK on Saturday and Epcot on Monday. Mosquitos love me and I didn't get bit either day. My 2 year old did get some ant bites, though.

We got bitten on two occasions. Both times at night. My one son and I got about 3 bites each while watching Illuminations at Epcot (we were sitting sort of by Canada). Then we ALL got several bites waiting for the boat from MGM to the Boardwalk area. Some of these bites were big!

But other than those, we never even saw a mosquito.

I've been to Disney many times the last week of August and NEVER gotten bitten by ANYthing. However, THIS year I got LOTS of bites!! Mosquitos as well as other critters. So did my family. I was there from 8/23-8/30. I kept commenting how bad the bugs were this time around.

Here in Missouri, the mosquitos love me. I have never been bitten by a mosquito at WDW. Along with my visit dates below, I have done 3 girls trips to Orlando and never had a problem those times either :thumbsup2

I don't know how Disney does it, but we have been lucky enough not see a single mosquito in any of the parks but have seen them at the resorts.

Someone once told me that they have electronic mosquito repellers on top of the buildings.

I have witnessed the Love Bug phenomenon in September.

Last year (first week in oct) we were swarmed by mosquitoes back by Pecos Bills while waiting for MNSSHP to begin. We ALWAYS travel with the individually packaged repellant wipes in our pack - lost my beloved br-in-law to WNV 3 years ago this week - we take no chances, no matter how infrequent mosquito bites may be (and most trips we have never seen any) - better safe than sorry :thumbsup2 !!

We just got back and even my DH made the comment about how there were NO mosquito's anywhere. No one got a single bite in 9 days and we didn't see a one. This included walking around FW, sitting on the beach at night at FW and the Poly and 2 EMH at MK till after 12. At our house I've gotten a half dozen just filling the birdbath!
