I am leaving in 1 week and was wondering how bad the mosquitos are right now?

I can't speak specifically about the Fort, because I won't be there until next month, but I can tell you it's been sooooooo dry here, that I haven't seen a mosquito in ages (even though we live near a lake). If we start getting regular rains again, all bets are off, but if it stays dry, they shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I like to buy those individually packaged Off towelettes to carry with me, so I can just apply as needed instead of having to be coated in repellant all the time.

It's the wrong time of year for skeeters in Florida. They come out when the rainy season starts around June. They keep FtW well sprayed, so there usually aren't problems with them.

I can't speak for anyone else,,
but I'm willing to bet that with the right sauce they are delicious.

Ooops Sorry, I failed to mention I too live in Florida, Jax to be exact. I was thinking we hadn't had much mosquito activity here or was it the fact I am rarely out during morning and evening to feed them, so I was just wondering about the fort. We stayed at WL 3 weeks ago. otter pond was right outside our door and dh kept telling the kids to keep the door closed because he had killed some mosquitos in the room. I never saw any inside or out and I am top on their list :confused3 I'm beginning to wonder if dh is loosing it :lmao:

Just got back and didn't get a single bite - and I'm a mosquito magnet.

I was outside quite a bit this trip - the weather was perfect and the only bugs I saw were some gnats :)

It's those little critters I like to call "teeth 'n wings" that bug me, they can fly right thru screens.:scared1:

We were there March 6th - 15th and I got a few bites on my legs, nothing major though. It didn't rain the whole time we were there.

Afew bites, heck here in florida we get that many just walking to the car. I have never had any problems with bugs at the fort. They do a great job of insect control. Sure a few get through. But the fort was built on a swamp, so a few here and there is nothing. Most cg's in florida they will carry you away. Especially during the summer months when it tends to be wet.

Good.:thumbsup2 I was wondering if I needed to buy bug spray.

Nope, dont need bug spray,,
but ya might wanna grab a bear trap or two.:thumbsup2,
theres not a lotta bears at the Fort, but those pesky beer drink'n otters will steal yer beer inna heart beat,,I'd try the bear traps for them.:thumbsup2

Heck, in the U.P. of Michigan where we camp all the time, the skeeters are the state bird! I have even seen some of them with landing ligths and strobes on them. Oh wait, maybe those were real air planes!?! :confused3

spent the month of february at the fort no skeeters in sight I think your good to go have a great time!!! K.:thumbsup2
