Hi folks...

Been reading a bit about mosquitoes being more of a problem than normal, because of all the standing water left by the storms and/or hurricanes recently...

Just want to know your experience(s), if you have traveled, vacationed, and/or live in/near Walt Disney World, Kissimmee or Orlando in the past month.

Also, what insect repellent worked best for you...

Friends and myself will be traveling to WDW in mid-October!

Welcome to the DIS. It's a great place for all that Disney must have info!!

Anyhow, I plan on taking and using Family Cutter. I also plan on using the bounce sheets in the pockets. DH will frown but I've heard they work. So between the 2 I hope to ward off any pesky bites. I have a huge west nile phobia.

Let's put it this way. You might want to put weights in your pockets so that the mosquitos don't carry you away! They are bad right now. They are telling people to be careful at dawn and dusk due to the high number of mosquitos.

Hi slew - welcome to the DIS !!! I'm with kilee and the west nile phobia thing - we lost my otherwise very healthy br-in-law last year to this dreadful disease.

The most effective repellants are those with DEET - be sure not to get it on your hands or near your mouth when applying - shower/bathe the kids (and yourself) at night when using so you're not sleeping in this stuff. I use the clothes dryer sheets for my little infant DGrD - tying them on her stroller and also rubbing them on her clothes. (My friends who golf say they also hang them from the back of their caps and out of their pockets- we have a LOT of mosquitoes here!) Several companies sell combination repellant/sunscreen - we like to use the towelettes when we travel - very convenient.

Be smart - protect yourself and your family - and have fun !!:smooth:
