Should we expect mosquitoes in April? If so, what does your family use to prevent getting bit?? Thanks!

We've been at all different times of the year and never been bothered. But, we always bring some repellent.

just got home from the Fort ...saw quite a few mosquitos and each of us was bitten...I've seen worse but still didn't expect them in December. May have been the exceptionally warm/wet weather.

The weather now must be suited for mosquitoes. We have been down from February to August and don't ever remember them being a problem. We always have repellent in the camper (summer in the midwest), but I don't remember needing it at WDW.

1) Those must have been the rogue bugs we have been trying to rein-in.
2) There are ALWAYS a few that go-off-the-reservation.
3) We train and train and train them not to bite guests.
4) Like people, some will never listen to instructions.

Haha! Y'all are awesome!! Thanks for your help. This is why I always come back to the DIS when I'm planning WDW vacations! :)

Have never even seen a mosquito at FW or Disney anywhere - also never bring any type repellent - have been there in most (if not all) months of the year.

They used to come through the campground and spray pesticides. Not sure if they still do.

We always keep some Off in the camper, but didn't need it when we were at the Fort.

We have always been at the WDW between Nov and Feb, with no problem with mosquitos. This year we will also be at the fort in April. If there is a problem, DW bought a repellent that it's main ingredients are lavender and alcohol. We have used it while at the Texas coast and it does work. With the lavender, you guys may get some looks.:rotfl2:
Scupper did not tell you that they catch the ones they can not train and ship them to Louisana and Southeast Texas.

Never fear. These guys are always standing guard at the fort ready to pounce should the mosquito population get out of control.

I heard our Mississippi legislature was working on a deal with Disney to secure this contract. After all, it is our state bird...

Ok, after reading these threads for months, I thought that nothing would bite us at the Fort. (I guess I thought it was part of the magic! ;)).

WRONG!!!! My husband & I both got TONS of bites this past week. Like, more than 20 bites each. We had our citronella candle lit, but it didn't matter. So, yes, the Fort has bugs and they bite!!!!

In the 12 years of going to the Fort never had a bug problem. This Christmas trip if you walked through the pine needles on the ground you seemed to stir up the mosquitoes. As others have said they were very bad. The summer and fall were very wet in the Orlando area and not as sunny as usual so nothing dried.
