Mortgage Payment Advice

I made an on-line payment for my mortgage payment to come out on 3/15. The payment posted to the account on-line. The money generally comes out of the account the next day, two days at most.

Here it is the 21st and the money still hasn't been taken out. I called Wells Fargo today and was told that the payment posted on the 15th and there is no problem with the payment (wasn't returned, etc). I said can I confirm the checking account number the funds are due to come from and was told no. For security reasons they cannot access that.

I then called the bank and they don't show it as a pending payment to come out of the account.

Any suggestions?

Did you want to say the checking account # and they just say yes or no if that was correct? As long as they are not giving you an account # there is no reason they can not confirm something you are giving them. If their department can not access them, I would ask what department would be handling that, or if a supervisor would be able to answer yes or no to that.

I believe that banks have 1-2 weeks to actually pull payments so they may have it posted to your mortgage and just not taken the funds out.

You can also give it a few days see if the payment comes out of your checking, if not give them a call back up say look i know that there is something wrong with this payment, its not out of my checking can someone please look into the payment posted on the 15th and make sure it is correct, they can launch an investigation into it, if it is wrong then you can place stop payment on that electronic posting and redo the payment.

She said that for security reasons, they cannot see the checking account number. I feel good that at least the payment posted on the 15th and I have the confirmation number from the payment. I checked the paper confirmation and my checking account and routing number were entered correctly.

I know it can take some time to come out, but it is always out the next day or two days max.

I agree that it shouldn't take so long. Can you look at the online receipt to make sure you entered the correct account #.

You should be able to go onto Wells Fargo website where you made the payment and look up (using the transaction/receipt #) to see what account # you used.
At least you are not late with the mortgage.

Maybe Wells Fargo is doing something to their system? They might show the payment but perhaps they just haven't pulled the funds yet. I would just keep checking on it and call them back.

Same thing happened to me last month will Wells Fargo. The payment didn't come out of my checking account for 5 days. You have a confirmation number and their system shows that the payment posted on 3/15, so I think you shouldn't worry about it.

They are in the middle of their merger with Wachovia, which just became final last week, maybe they are slow in processing things because of that.

With your confirmation #, you shouldn't have an issue, so Don't worry.

The money generally comes out of the account the next day, two days at most.

It all depends on how your financial institution paid the mortgage company -- if the mortgage company accepts electronic payments, it should take a day or two. If they do not accept electronic payments, your bank will then cut a check and mail it to the mortgage company, which takes about 5 business days.

Best to check with the two parties involved to see what the arrangements are between them...

I had two things happen with online payments with my mortgage.
Once I somehow got to the confirm payment and clicked, but it actually did not go through and authorize.
The second for some reason as I clicked and scrolled I changed the date on the withdrawal and it was for an entire differnet date then what I wanted.

So on the second occasion it was to post, but not the day I wanted it to. I called the mortgage company and they only advised to immediately post it. Big help...
I should have noticed I did not receive my confirmation by two days later..

I find it much easier to pay from my own checking account. Our mortgage is set up to pay every month without me having to think about it at all. I can verify the right account numbers directly online if for some reason the payment doesn't post right away.

Same here (except for auto-pay. I still go in to pay it when I do the bills). If you send it from the checking account then you have a record of the transaction with a confirmation number. Plus, then you aren't giving the mortgage company access to your account.
