I am about eight weeks pregnant - and I am nauseous (sp?) morning, noon and night. Almost any time I eat or smell anything- it starts. I have been having a very weird craving ( Big Macs withouth the meat) but have been unable to eat just about anything else. Just thinking of eating grosses me out

I've tried alot of things - sea bands (they didn't work, but were great for holding back hair when I had my head in the toilet), hard candy, crackers (worked somewhat.)

Does anyone have any suggestions, or anything that worked for them?

I am starting to get worried about my baby.

Oh, you poor dear...I know exactly what you're going through but I'm afraid I can't be of much help. When I was pregnant with my son I threw up at least once a day (morning) and sometimes 2-3 times a day from the time I was 6-weeks pregnant until the day he was born, I kid you not. Kinda took the fun outta being pregnant, but we both survived. :D I don't think "morning sickness" hurts the baby at all but you could mention it to your doctor and see what he/she has to say. They've probably "come a long way" since 1976...LOL!!! Now, when I was pregnant two years later with my daughter I had the "normal" morning sickness, just a few weeks of nausea and occasional (not daily) vomiting. The doctor prescribed compazine for me but I had an allergic reaction so couldn't take it, but thankfully the morning sickness went away for good a short time later and I actually enjoyed being pregnant the second time!! :D
Good luck to you!!

I had the same thing, and tried everything but also nothing worked. So the Dr gave me some pills to take when it got bad. The worked well! But they made me even more tired. But I had lost weight and that wasn't good. Good luck and congrats!

I don't want to discourage you, but sometimes nothing can be done. I lost between 25 & 30 pounds with each pregnancy. I was sick day & night. I spent months in the hospital. My doctor always said to eat whatever I was craving, no matter how strange it seemed. I hope you start feeling better soon! :sunny:

Morning sickness just means that your hormone levels are doing the normal changing which means your pregnancy is doing good. Are you taking your vitamins yet? If so, that could be what's making you sick...it made me terribly sick. Too much iron is what the dr said caused it. So he gave me some different vitamins. Also, be sure you take them at night. They'll make you pretty sick in the mornings. I always took mine with a piece of fruit and that also helped.

Ginger is suppose to help, but I don't like ginger too much. I do however like ginger aile. That and Sprite helped a lot.

You should keep crackers with you all the time. Even if thinking about eating makes you sick, you should still eat. There's nothing worse than trying to throw up when there's nothing in you stomache. I hate that.

Invest in Tums NOW. You'll probably need them at the end too when/if you get the heartburn/indigestion.

Good luck and Congratulations on your upcoming baby. When all other remedies fail, just thing about that precious baby that you'll be holding soon. :)

There is a great new antinausea medicine called Zofran. It doesn't make you sleepy like the other drugs.

I took Phenergan with DS, but it knocked me out. A friend at work took Zofran last spring and she said it "saved her life":D

With my third, I was so sick for the first few months that my doctor asked us if we wanted to go through with the pregnancy. :( I had mild nausea with my other two, but nothing like this. I could barely function.

Hang in there. It's no fun being that miserable, and you start thinking that something must be wrong with the baby. My DD was perfectly healthy when she finally arrived.

Crackers are good. Ginger is also helpful, as is Cola.

Whatever you crave, go ahead and eat it. It's better than nothing.

Most of all, know that it will pass. It was about the 4th month that it finally stopped. I went from losing weight to gaining 60 pounds!!!:p :p

The wife used to get sick in a morning so she used to eat some dry toast as soon as she got up in a morning be sick then eat here normal breakfast my advice is don’t take any drugs to get over the sickness as this may harm the baby it will eventually be over when the baby has born and then you can look forward to them being sick over you

Thanks to all of your for your suggestions - and even more than that your words of encouragement. It's been a little difficult the past couple weeks, we just moved to California from NH and I don't know anyone here well enough to confide in about this stuff (too early in the pregnancy.) I have been communicating with friends back East via email, but it's not exactly the same!

I think I will try to hold off on drugs for now - I don't think I have actually LOST any weight yet, but if that happens I will certainly consider it. I haven't been vomiting THAT much - maybe every other day, once or twice at the most (and only at night.) It's more that I just feel so sick and grossed out by everything! Even the smell of baking chocolate chip cookies, lol! The vitamins do make me feel really bad, Princess Aurora. I will try taking them at night.

thanks - you guys are great. I know it will be all worth it in the end when I get my little baby!

I, fortunately never had any morning sickness and I believe it was because I did this every morning (recommened by my friend who did the same with her two kids).

I kept Ritz whole wheat crackers in my nightstand (had to be whole wheat). When my alarm went off every morning, I would grab about 5-6 crackers and eat them in bed without getting up. It got to the point where my husband only woke up if he heard me crunching LOL! Supposedly if you have something in your stomach before your feet hit the floor in the morning, you lessen the morning sickness. It may be an old wives tale, but it worked for my friend, myself and my cousin. I plan on doing it again for my next pregnancy too.

And although I didn't get morning sickness, I was "cursed" with severe carpal tunnel syndrom and gestiational diabetes - which I would take anyday over throwing up!

lil mermaid - Gum! I chewed gum CONSTANTLY thru my pregnancy. THe dentist encouraged me to chew sugarless of course. :)

As for the vitamins, with my 3rd baby I didn't take them for the first 2 months. They just made me sick. The dr changed them to the chewable kind. I took those at night with a few chocolate chips, to hide the nasty taste.

Good luck! Hopefully it will be getting better soon. My nausea always stopped about 14 weeks, started to get better at 9.

Congrats on your pregnancy!!!!!!!!:jester:

salt is what helps me
pretzels are especially good for this
my first pregnancy I was throwing up everywhere
the only thing that got me through that pregnancy was plain baked potatoes
I just craved them also I could not eat anything after 4-5 pm
keep snacking on crackers and pretzels if your stomach gets too empty the nausea is worse
