Did anyone mention the daily resort fee that was rumored a few weeks ago. This daily fee is to cover Magical express, magicbands, parking, EMH.....haven't heard much lately, though it's been OTBE

They ADDED a NEW special event (outside of EMH and unaffected by it) in which you can have breakfast in Magic Kingdom and enjoy 3 rides with early access on a few select days between now and june. THAT'S IT. EMH still exists and will still open (or close) the park as always and is still (as always) FREE for anyone who qualifies.

I don't really consider it a price hike for them to charge under $70 for breakfast and early access to the park. If I want waffles, I expect to pay for them.

The fact that BLT is going for $120+ and bwv is going for $100+ resale is just crazy to me. Obviously this is why DVD instituted these new restrictions on resales closing post 4/4/16

They cut 1/3rd of the Steetmophere CMs over at DHS and got rid of stuffed pretzels (sweet cheese & jalapeno cheese) because of a pricing dispute with the manufacturer.

You are not alone in thinking that resale prices will decline. I don't agree, though. Maybe there will be a very short term drop, but I don't think they will decrease much at all. Most buyers seem to compare the cost of Disney lodging with the cost of DVC lodging and that value proposition is still there. Few buy to get perks, especially when they find out that they are not part of the contract. Those that want to buy for the perks are almost certainly a small percentage of resale prospects.

There are still many who love going to Disney. IMO, that population will increase once TSL, SW land and Avator & other AK changes are completed. I think a lot of those will consider DVC. Might be fun to resurrect this thread in a year or so to see what's happened. (Sure hope this thread isn't still on the first page, LOL).

Should be noted that they did not cut all of the Streetmosphere CMs at DHS. They cut 10 from the troupe of 29. The show is still presented. It's not good, especially if you are one of those 10 performers who got cut, but a lot of posters here believe the show has gone away entirely, and if you liked it and you're still going to WDW, you should still be able to see it.

Current members can still add on via resale and retain perks so it might drop some, but not a lot.

Also, I'm guessing a whole lot of DVC resale buyers are people who already have a contract through Disney. As somebody who has a contract through Disney, I'm thinking these new restrictions don't really hurt me at all. If I buy another contract from someone else, I still have my DVC member card and some points through Disney, so who is going to stop me from using my discounts? I'm already entitled to them with my original contract. That's probably true of a lot of people who buy through other sources I would imagine.

Am I off base on this? Or do a lot of first-time buyers go straight to non-Disney sales?

By 2018, kids will be 5/9. Atlantis seems like a good option-- after all, atlantis won't be considered more $$ given all of disneys nickel n dime-ing. And I heard Atlantis is Disney meets Vegas on a tropical beach.

Buh bye Disney, the pixie dust is gone from my eyes. Can't wait to downsize you (or be that owner who rents you) outa my life!!

And if you stay at the Comfort Suites right next to Atlantis, you get a cheaper rate and the day pass that includes, as far as I know, everything.

Mummy dust replaced any pixie dust I ever might have noticed, the moment we stepped foot in Universal. (given that that was less than 2 weeks after we went to WDW the first time, it's been awhile)

Assuming I rent all 400 of my yearly "premium" resort points through a broker, I get $13pp. That's $5200.

Atlantis harborside 2bds go for $3500-5k. Their 1bds go for $2k-$2500.

So let's say I conservatively pocket $1k from the exchange, depending on whether I get a 1 or 2bd.

Then, I don't have to buy park fees for my family. Harborside Atlantis includes park fees. It's at least $350 X 4ppl. That's an additional $1.4 saved.

Airfare? Assuming Bahamas is $150 more pp. Let's subtract $600.

I'll be cooking in the room if I can if I get harborside.

So it looks like I get an extra $1-2k, depending on airfare and whether we do a 1 or 2bd, to spend before breaking even. Wiil food and water costs be $1-2k more at harborside over Disney? Maybe.... Maybe not. Or, let's just say you break even or even save money going to harborside....

I didn't realize that DVC was now designating and selling some resorts as "premium" resorts. Is this designation part of the newest latest & greatest changes with DVC to go along with the new restrictions? Where can I find the list of which resorts are now "premium"?

Certain resorts are paid for with a premium ($13) if you rent between 7-11mo. Otherwise, the std rate is just above $11pp for certain resorts or anytime between the 0-7mo mark.

I think the brokers were having a hard time finding points at certain resorts between 7-11mo and the extra $2 was an incentive. These "premium" resorts also tend to be sold out or harder to book after the 7mo mark.

I've been to many places, WDW still feels right to me. Right now I am riding home from the Smokies, and a trip to Dollywoods International Festival. The Smokies are magical mountains, here's our sunset on Tuesday, from our balcony.



As grandparents, yes, we would do the early breakfast with the rides once with our family. Going over our trips with our sons in the 1980's Peter Pan was one son's very favorite thing in the world!

What I would not do is BBB, but I have friends who thought the experience was the best thing ever for their girls.

We pay extra for Valet parking at Dollywood, even though DH has a pass that includes normal parking. We pay extra to have our dog travel with us, extra for the cabin, then she goes to Doggywood. The valet parking is largely for Belle, she's a senior dog.

We'll all spend our money on what we want, thank heavens we have these choices! After Disney made the first resale restrictions, so many people said no big thing. The way this was rolled out was harsh, but maybe it was not supposed to happen the way it did.

I agree with the person who mentioned that if you keep drawing lines in the sand, you can run out of beach, and we all pick our fights. This fight is not mine.

DVC has not created that distinction. The 'Premium' label, as referring to DVC properties, was floated by a well-known rental broker businessman.

You are correct BUT based on recent history of trying to grab every penny possible, I think it is reasonable to assume a few things:
1- the POSSIBILITY of further reduction or elimination of EMH's, especially at MK, where there would be the most interest in the NEW special event.
2- The reduction of hours to accommodate this NEW special event. I was at MK the week prior to Easter, MK was open to midnight everyday. I can easily see them closing the park an hour earlier to accommodate this NEW priced event. The Park also opened at 8 AM most days and can see them opening at 9 again to accommodate this event.

There has been a significant reduction in EMH's over the past few years so YES based on recent history it is fair to say that if WDW finds this new program successful it will impact guests with later opening hour or earlier closing hours and a distinct possibility of elimination of EMH's in the future. I can't think of many or any benefits that have been enhanced for the guests without a heft price.

Oh. So some owners think their resorts are better than others based solely on rental opportunities thru brokers. I'm glad to hear DVC hasn't actually made this an offical distinction. Just what we need around. A DVC "class system". I guess it's like zip codes. Some people pay higher real estate taxes based on property values determined by zip codes (where I live that would be Potomac and Chevy Chase). Thanks. I'll keep my lower taxes with my out in the boonies zip code.

(We don't rent our points out so I wasn't familiar with that policy.)
