Morgan and Jeff's Whimsical Wedding - Wedding photos blogged pg7

I love that you had a rehearsal dinner at HDDR. If I could go back, I would have done that instead of the dessert party. Despite the questionable food, my guests would have liked the entertainment and loved the unlimited alcohol.

I agree with you on the not knowing how funny the show actually is. When were were there, we were had 6 pitchers of beer and 8 glasses of wine between 4 of us, so of course we would be laughing :lmao:

Can't wait to read more!

I'm reading this at work and your last post made me DIE laughing. I love your writing style! I have never tried Hoop-Dee-Doo but this unlimited Sangria is making me want to :rotfl:

can't wait for more!

That looks like so much fun! I've never done HDDR! It sounds great though, I miss when the Luau had unlimited rum punch *sigh*. And your hair looks great in these pics.

Sorry you were stressed. I wish I had more pics of pre-wedding things and it is because I was so stressed! Although it is cute that people thought you were a CM handing out sticks lol.

Did all your guests go to the HDDR? Did you make one group ADR? It seemed like a great time!

hahaha, I can imagine you, Tour Guide Barbie, after 6 sangrias! Loving this of course!!

Morgan - I just found your TR here today, can't wait to read all about your wedding. Sounds like you're all having a blast so far!!

HAHAA!!! I love the idea of you giving your own tour version for Disney.. Hilarious.

I'm glad you had fun at HDDR. I've never been there but with unlimited Sangria - Hello! That would be a lot of fun! Very cute idea for the rehearsal dinner!

All of the pictures you take always turn out so nice! I'm jealous!

You are genius for having the rehearsal dinner 2 days before the wedding Morgan! I love the HDDR and had been many times, but honestly I haven't been since I was 8. It was one of my dad's favorite shows (he too played Davy Crockett's angel) and I just haven't emotionally been able to go back. (Oh and my grandpa LOVED Dolly! LOL!) But, I love that it's one of your family traditions and that you were able to incorporate something so important and so "Disney" into your wedding weekend. How incredibly fun! :goodvibes Maybe Jim and I'll make our way to HDDR on our next trip so I can have some of that Sangria! ;) Looking forward to reading more! :goodvibes

Can't wait to read more. I also booked HDDR for our wedding. 21 of us in all. I am glad you and your guests had a great time, looking forward to reading more. :surfweb:

Looks like you had an AMAZING time!

One quick question... how did you go about delivering your welcome bags?

We hand delivered to the people staying at the same hotel as us. The rest were dropped off at concierge at CSR with the reservation name. If we had more guests not staying at AKV I probably would have tied them/boxed them together with the reservation name/ressie# clearly marked.

I love reading your trip report, your writing is so much fun to read. I can only imagine how much fun you guys had on your trip and at your wedding.

Looking for to reading more. :goodvibes

Thank you so much for reading! We had a GREAT time!

We thought about doing the DP but we ultimately decided we had to do HDD! You don't get the wow factor of Illuminations, though.

Yes, we had one group ADR and everyone was invited. The only reason we have so many pre-wedding pics is because of other people! Thank goodness for photo sharing!

The Convention folks who I was giving my tour too were all in good spirits so it made it all that much more fun. I become a chatty Cathy when I drink!

You should definitely go back! It's such a fun time - the show hasn't changed one bit but who cares! It's still funny (I think.... :rotfl:)

You guys are going to have a great time! Going with a group is just an entirely different experience, especially if they really get into the show.

Sunday: Our Mad Bridal Shower!

Now I must admit, our bridal shower was mostly a surprise. I say mostly because we were clued in before hand that the shower would be at Disney. My bridesmaids and the moms could only string me on so long before they felt guilty and confessed to the surprise. That was the only detail I was given (Jeff was consulted on the whole thing!) but once we received a very generically themed invite instructing us to be at the Whitehall patio on Sunday… I started to get an idea of what was going on.

Sunday also happened to be the morning we were moving from AKV to the Contemporary, so in addition to getting ready for the shower we were packing our stuff up. Unfortunately, bell services was a little more behind than we anticipated and so our plans of taking the bus to MK and hopping the monorail was out. We had to hail another cab to the GF (I’ve never used so many taxi’s at Disney!) and of course we were running late!

We pulled up to the convention center and made our way to the Whtiehall patio. I saw Ken standing at the end of a line of glass paneled French doors and as I passed each door my eyes grew bigger and bigger until they were filled with tears by the time I walked out to the patio.

No, I didn’t intentionally plan for my dress to match my phone!

The whole thing was amazing!!

My mom made all of the centerpieces

I was a little overwhelmed (in a good way) and just amazed! I never ever imagined I would have my own Mad Tea Party at Disney, but here I was! And of course being a massive Alice fan I was over the moon (and glad I had worn one of my bowed headbands!)

Then it was time to eat and there was a ton of food!! Fruit, scones, tarts, three types of sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries, salad. There was food that I didn’t even know we had until after the shower was over and I was walking back down the table going “Oh my gosh, we had ?!?!” I had a centerpiece blocking my view!

Fresh fruit

Berries and scones

Sandwiches: turkey with yogurt and cranberries on a croissant, chicken salad on Italian (I think), and heirloom tomatoes with Roquefort on multi-grain (hands down my favorite!!)

Once everyone had gotten their fill of food, we moved on to shower games. There was an Alice in Wonderland trivia game and a game to see how well Jeff and I knew each other. What that game revealed is not that we know each other well, but rather that Jeff can’t pick a favorite anything.

After the games we took some time to look over the scrapbook our family and friends had made for us. The first half had photos of the two of us throughout our relationship and the second half consisted of pages made by individual family and friends with notes, favorite memories and more photos.

“What was I thinking with that outfit?”

While we were looking through the scrapbook and chatting with people, I kept hearing people say "Oh the cake will be coming, it's just late." "The cake is running late, it will be here soon." You'd think I would have caught on.. the cake is late. For a very important date. But I didn't, until I saw this...

After about a million photos in the Florida sun (poor Mr. Rabbit) it was time to cut the rapidly melting cake!

And not to be outdone, Jeff gave him one back!

Then sadly we had to say goodbye and get to om nomming some cake!

The cake was vanilla with orange filling and chocolate with peanut butter filling. Both were very good but the chocolate/peanut butter combo seemed to be the overwhelming favorite. While everyone enjoyed their cake, we opened gifts.

Jeff’s uncle lives in China and he sent us some cool Disney items from China. We think it’s a game but we actually aren’t too sure.

And like that, it was time to wrap up and head to our new digs at the Contemporary. We had so much fun and it was such a dream come true to have a shower like this!! I couldn't have asked for anything more exciting!

What a great party! The centerpieces are awesome! Such a talented family.

What a fantastic surprise!! And btw your mom rocks at centerpieces!! They were so cute! I love the whole "golden afternoon" flowers. I <3 the white rabbit and your face was just priceless when he entered. Totally can't wait to see more. (oh, and I've decided that we are going to go to the HDDR on one of our next trips to WDW so thanks!) :goodvibes

Wow! What a fabulous party! Is your mom a pro? Those centerpieces are adorable. How'd she put those together on vacation?!

Also, I must know where you got your dress—SO cute! :goodvibes

The centerpieces are amazing - what a lovely, lovely suprise. Food looks yummy! Your outfit was so cute and went with the theme perfectly.

The party looks amazing! How sweet of them to plan that for you, it looks like it was definitely worth the wait! Your mom is so talented, the centerpieces are amazing. What a great surprise to have the White Rabbit come with the cake. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Looking forward to hearing more!

Your shower looks like it was wonderful! What a beautiful job everyone did on it -- I really love those centerpieces that your mom made, and you looked so cute! It was easy to see how much you were enjoying yourself. :goodvibes

Your shower looks so amazing! I can just imagine how excited you must have been, seeing as you are a huge Alice fan. Your family did a good job of surprising you and adding in those extras. Your mom also did a great job with the centrepieces!

This is probably the most amazing bridal shower I've seen. Those centerpieces are beyond awesome--I love the flowers with eyes! just like the movie!!!

Thank you, Heidi!! You are too sweet.

The "golden afternoon" centerpiece was my favorite too. I thought they would start talking any moment. "Just what specie, or shall we say, genus, are you, my dear?" "Well, I suppose you could call me a genus... humanus.. Alice!" :lmao:

She's not a pro, she just has that crafty gene! She didn't pass it along to me, sadly. I can make friends with the Adobe Creative Suite, but put me in Michaels and I am like a lost sheep. She made the centerpieces at home and then my IL's drove down so they were able to transport them.

My dress is from Macy's. It's a Calvin Klein dress and it comes in a billion colors so if pink isn't your thing I am sure you can find a color that is.

The centerpieces are amazing - what a lovely, lovely suprise. Food looks yummy! Your outfit was so cute and went with the theme perfectly.

Thank you! The food was yummy and there were tons of leftovers. I wish we had smuggled in take-out containers to keep some of the fruit and sandwiches. It's so awful seeing stuff go to waste, you know?

That's my tip for this entry: if you have a bridal tea smuggle in tupperware!

Thank you! I'll pass on the accolades to my mom. :goodvibes

Everyone did amazing and they were so good at hiding every thing from me! One guest did slip up the day before and mention about a tea party, but it still didn't ruin the surprise!

Oh gosh yes, I could have just skipped the wedding and been happy with just the shower. :rotfl: It's probably a good thing I didn't know about it in advance because I am dorky enough to have worn an Alice dress (just kidding! maybe...:rotfl:)

This is probably the most amazing bridal shower I've seen. Those centerpieces are beyond awesome--I love the flowers with eyes! just like the movie!!!

Thank you! I just read your LJ bio and it is hysterical! I love the bit about eating overpriced cake. You are so funny!
