Our car insurance was due for renewal last month and we got a great quote from More>Than - a couple of hundred quid less than anywhere else. Needless, to say, we signed up.

Today we received a letter telling us that they'd made a mistake - they 'don't insure that make and model' - and will be cancelling our policy after giving us the requisite 7 days' notice.

This afternoon we received a phone call from More>Than asking if we'd taken up the quote we got via Confused.com and did we find it cheaper than other quotes we'd received?! Yes and Yes! Oh, and by the way, you've cancelled it! :rotfl: More>Than? Less< Than, I say! :rotfl2:

The happy ending to this is that they're refunding us in full (so we've had a month's insurance for nothing), they're sending us £25 of M&S vouchers and we've re-insured with Elephant for just a bit more. Oddly (or maybe not  ), we were with Elephant last year and their renewal quote was way higher than today's quote. Wonder how they'll wriggle out of it? They can hardly claim they don't insure it.

Lucky? That's... you know the rest.

crikey deb what a saga....still you have (hopefully) got a good deal in the end :thumbsup2

It's just one big game isn't it; looking for cheaper car insurance.

I was with Elephant last year and then I used Confused.com and got a cheaper deal through Admiral. When I phones Elephant to tell them I wouldn't be renewing I noticed that they are actually part of the Admiral group LOL

Insurers often offer lower rates to new customers, so always get a new quote as a new customer from you present insurer, and if it's cheaper than your renewal figure, phone them and complain - they will usually give you the lower rate :)

Perhaps one of the More Than people happened to see Matt driving. :rotfl2:

A case of 'alls well that ends well' I suppose, but it's still not very professional from a large insurance company.

Now that's not fair, especially as I did my good samaritan bit and asked for a price on your car, in case they were cheaper.

Apparently they don't insure yours either, as there is a £250 compulsory excess :rotfl2: :lmao: :thumbsup2

what a saga Deb and Matt - wheres Lucky when you need him .... Can you give them a ring to see if they can add Ian on an additional driver, so he can take a quick spin around the block !!

Wow! You seen more amused than upset and who can argue with a months free insurance!
