More talk of ladies' shorts...

I ordered a pair of Brooks Elements sprinter black shorts for the Minnie. I'm not sure if they are comfy enough--they seemed a bit snug for the first half-mile of my walk the other day, but they were fine after that.

I also picked up a pair of shorter-inseam black compression shorts this week that I was going to wear for the 5k.

Anyone else have any favorite shorts that I should investigate in the next week for the minnie? I'm starting to worry that I won't have the right gear!

I haven't actually worn them running yet but I did a lot of reading up on message boards (including this one!) and the ones I found most recommended and liked the best myself were the Nike Tempo Track shorts. They fit my "athletic" thighs the best and even after all my jumping around in the fitting room they stayed nicely. They are cut up at the outside part of the thigh so my theory is that this helps them stay in place.

And if you have an Nike outlet store near you, I bought two pairs of last seasons model for the price of one pair at Dicks.

Thanks! I'm a 4 petite, but my thighs have some marshmallowy parts that didn't used to be there.... I'll check into the Nike Tempo.

Thank you both for your ideas! :)

I bought Nike shorts at Sports Authority after trying on about 10 different pairs. I also jumped around and ran in place in the dressing room to make sure they fit and didn't ride up.

I think maybe that's a good idea--go try them on and see if they ride up! On my list of things to do this week!

Thanks!

Quick note that Lands End carries a dri fit work out line of clothes and the have petites in everything including tops. I just ordered one of the biking jerseys so can let you know about fit/finish. Didn't order the shorts since I just bought two running skirts that have the compression shorts attached.

jumping in here with a question...anyone know of good shorts that have pockets? I've ordered 2 running skirts, but want some shorts for training...must have pockets, preferrably 2... :)

I too, LOVE Nike Tempo shorts. They are perfect running shorts and I like all the different colors they offer.

With shorts I always get paranoid that things are going to fall out of the pockets when I run. I embrace the freedom of just my key in the key pocket and my iPod on my armband, but I did find this site a few weeks ago: http://www.graciesgearandtraining.com/html/ that sells tops, tanks, etc.. that have pockets instead of needing one in your shorts!

interesting! thanks! I need to take my phone and keys when I run. For the race, I'll be a veritable pack mule, I'm sure, what with my keys, camera, phone, sustenance...lol

The Nike shorts I bought have pockets and I have no problems with anything falling out!

I just bought a pair of shorts in the mens dept of WalMart. They were in the "basketball shorts" section but are made with the wicking material and have pockets with a longer length so they don't ride up. I figure for $7 I would take a chance. From now on, if all else fails, I'll check the mens dept!

I saw a couple on runningwarehouse today that I may consider...lol
