Pay attention to the part "This is why we are looking at investing our CRM structure including infinity clubs. In fact, you will hear about the creation of such a club in a matter of days. A consumer is not a consumer of one of our businesses. Most are consumers of all of our businesses. This means it is critical that we maintain our relationship with our customers."

It just keeps getting better and better!:thumbsup2

Start planning for Disneyland!!!

I think the Podcast crew knows about the new club but cannot comment on it until the 10th. Just my opinion, especially after listening to some other podcast this week.

Not a stupid question... "What is a infinity club?"... I also don't know!?!

Infinity?! Its a club that hits ya over the head over and over and over again. To infinity and beyond!

I believe they are looking for "affinity". Was that just a typo or did Iger really say infinity? Hmmmmm. Maybe had Buzz Lightyear on the brain.

I read the article...Bob said infinity but it could be the reporter typed it wrong.

That was my guess as soon as I read it.

Not an idiot!

Affinity group--you may have heard Pete refer to die hard fans as an affinity group. People who really have a strong interest and devotion to something.

And yes, I DO have too much time on my hands LOL

Affinity definitely makes more sense. Didn't even think that they were using the wrong word. Well the announcement comes out Tuesday and we arrive Thursday. Probably too quick a turn around to take advantage of anything this trip. But I'm waiting for the announcement.

This sounds like it could be a big spenders club, like in Atlantic City or Vegas at the casinos. Doesn't sound like anything I'd be able to afford, kind of like that hidden club/restaurant in Disneyland? Hope I'm wrong.

I hate to think that Disney would go to that extreme with this - but :confused3

IMHO - the affinity group they speak of is us, the regular person - who saves their pennies to be able to do & buy everything Disney that they can afford. To see it go the way of "Private - Big Bucks Only" would just be so wrong on so many levels...

Sounds like a way for Disney to make us part with more of our money.

What they need to do is adopt more family friendly pricing at the parks. Also need to adopt more employee friendly practices... like not getting rid of castmembers who have been there a long time and replacing them with college grads.

IMHO, I think a "big spenders club" would be a huge strategic error for Disney in our current and near-term future economy. Making it accessible to most of the affinity-minded people should be a priority or else this won't take off the way they're hoping.

I really hope this isn't it. It would be incredibly stupid and even almost offensive to alot of fans I think. It would also say again that Disney is totally out of touch with their die hard fans. But I don't think Disney would be advertising this and putting the buzz out there the way they are if this is what it is. They would know that it would be exciting WAY too many fans that won't be able to afford it.

Agreed. The funniest thing I take from this is that it is PETE and the DISUNPLUGGED that keep saying there needs to be something for "Disney's highest affinity group" - THE DIS' term - and then it is practically quoted verbatim.

My biggest worry for this is that what is inexpensive for some, may be expensive for others. Hardcore Disney fans come from all levels, which is why we have people who refuse to stay in anything less than moderate, and some who are perfectly okay with staying in value resorts every year.

I hope that they recognize this and provide something for even the Disney fans who have to really scrimp and save to go on vacation and don't have a lot of extra money.
