More Refurbs 1st week of December

Just noticed that as well as Big Thunder down the first week of December now the following has been added:

Mon 2 - Thurs 5 Inclusive Casey Junior Railroad and Storybook Land Canalboats

Fri 6th Casey Junior Only

I picked this time of year to avoid refurbs as they usually have everything open for the holiday season so I am pretty bummed about all this.

Now find out that Big Thunder is opening the 13th just 4 days after we go home. I am devastated. I was holding out hope it may open, even just for the last couple of days we were there so we could enjoy it. Anyone have any hope it might open a few days earlier or is the word it will be down that whole time.

I don’t have any inside info on the reopening date of BTMRR, but I hope for your sake that it opens earlier than planned so you can ride it.

I think no matter when you go, there is unfortunately always something or something’s that are down for refurb. I can’t really remember a time recently when there were not several things down at once, throughout the entire year. With Tiana’s down for over a year, HMH/HM down for almost a year, and then add in all of the others that went down and came back up, it is a lot. But we also all want the rides to work and be safe to ride, so they have to maintain them sometime, I guess.

We come from Texas, and that is not nearly as far as you are coming, so I know it is a tough pill to swallow! At least Tiana’s and HMH are back up for your trip, and hopefully everything stays off the refurb calendar during your trip (other than those you already know about). When this happens for our trip (a fave ride is down), I try to remember to focus on all of the rides and shows and entertainment that we WILL get to see and do. That usually solves it for me! Have a magical trip!

Thanks for your kind words. My adult daughter and I had a good chat about things and thought about what rides we would consider a good replacement for BTM. We decided Indiana Jones and Goofy's Sky School (which for some reason we love even though a lot of people hate it) will be good substitutions so we will aim to ride these more than usual. We will have LLMP's so with rope drop we should be able to hit these a couple of times a day. You're right we are trying to focus on the positive and know we will have a great time regardless. Porsche4, I know you'll have a wonderful trip! Just being there at the holidays is so much fun. Honestly, I can be happy just walking around and enjoying the decorations, having fun treats, watching the kids and adults having fun, and just soaking in the holiday atmosphere. It's also fun to go through the shops and enjoy food places you've not tried before. I love checking out the holiday decor in the hotels, too.

And you'll get to do plenty of rides, I'll bet! I'll be looking forward to hearing about your trip

I am so excited to hear about your trip once it is complete!! I know you are getting excited, and you have put so much planning and thought into it, it is bound to be so fun! Enjoy the time with your adult children! As a mom who has one away at college now and one still left at home for 18 more months, I know getting to vacation with adult children is a rare treat.
