More Questions From a DVC Newbie - Reservation that Overlaps Two Seasons

If I want to make a reservation that overlaps two seasons on the points chart, how does that work?

I read somewhere that the whole stay is then booked at the higher season rate - is that correct?

IF that is correct, do you suggest doing a split stay to take advantage of the lower point part of our stay? I assume we can ask to be left in the same room, but there is a chance we would have to move? What is your personal experience with this?

No, your points are based on the date you reserve. If you book 7 nights, 3 in one category and 4 in another, the points will be the lower amount those 3 nights and the higher amount the last 4. It's just like Fri/Sat nights require more points - what you need is based on the points required for each night. No need to split your stay at the same resort - this is quite common.

Yes, you are overthinking this LOL! Look at the points charts and add them up by day. DVC reservations online calculates it for you if that is easier. Just plug in the new dates and hit update. Good luck!

We are in the process of buying our first contracts (actually my dad is the purchaser, but I am doing all the research, making offers, etc.) so I am trying to make sure we are buying enough points for how my dad wants to use them.

I think the issue that you are thinking of is when a booking crosses UYs. Ex. A trip that goes from November 25-December 4 when you have a December UY it would need points from the previous UY for the November days and current UY points for the December days.
