Okay, so I have decided to purchase the wedding licence when we arrive as I figure it is less hassle. Can someone please let me know (also any previous UK brides) what exactly I need to do? I also need to know what forms of ID I require. We intend to do this on our day of arrival, so if anyone could tell me

1. Where the nearest courthouse is?
2. Do I make an appointment?
3. How much does it cost?
4. How long does the process take?
5. What forms of ID do I need?
6. If someone could give me a step by step process that would be great?:goodvibes

I am very worried mainly because we are coming from the UK so we can't afford to forget anything as it's not like we can go back and get it. Plus this may be helpful for other upcoming brides, hopefully I'm not the only one out there that doesn't have a clue when it comes to this sort of thing:guilty:

Hi Summer,
I went through this process last Oct as you know, lets see how the old memory is holdin up!!!!

1. Where the nearest courthouse is? - think there is one in Kissimee, but we used the one in downtown Orlando before we went to wet & wild.

2. Do I make an appointment? - no, it was a walk in service in the Orlando one.

3. How much does it cost? - $100 seems to ring a bell, but the wife was in charge of the cash :sad2: so maybe someone else can confirm.

4. How long does the process take? - It took around an hour in total, but that was an early morning thing for us, it may get busier later in the day, a wee side note on time, the courthouse in Orlando has "airport" style security with metal detectors and the like, there was quite a line just to get in the building, and if you have any cans of deoderant or shampoo or even sunscreen, they get confiscated, or no entry to the building if you didnt hand them over, just remember the liquids, gels, rules from the plane and you should be fine.

5. What forms of ID do I need?- i had birth certificate, and passport with me, oh! and if either of you have been hitched before, you need your divorce papers too!

6. If someone could give me a step by step process that would be great?
Did my best. :rotfl:

hi summer. you only need your passport (i took my birth certificate too but they didnt ask for it). we went to the orange county courthouse, i can pm you directions from downtown disney if you want (let me know and i'll dig them out). you dont have to make an appointment, you just go in and queue. its the marriage and passport office you need. once you get into the courthouse (through the security), make your way up to the marriage office, theres forms on the wall for the marriage license, fill it in while you wait. they give you an hours free parking, we were in and out within the hour and that was with a bit of a queue. the licence costs around $100 ish, and it'll only take you about 20 minutes or so once you get called up to the window. they'll type your details out onto the computer, then print it out. you can pre-order certified copied at about $2.50. you then get the licence and an envelope to send it back in. you give it to the officiant on your wedding day, he'll sign it then he'll probably send it back for you.
hope that helps.

pps:did you still want the songs you were looking for a couple of months ago?
