More questions about Pay/Rent/#of roommates/Disc. for food while working?

Okay I keep thinking of more and more questions. I have figured out that if you have more roommates then you have less rent taken out of your paycheck. Is this correct? I am also assuming that one apt. complex might be more costly than another?? Do the cast members get a disc. on meals while working? Are they expected to bring their lunch or pay regular park prices on food? Is there a a dining hall/canteen area for the CM's?

Ok, this is what I know for sure:

The more roommates you have, the cheaper the rent. Not by much, but it adds up over the weeks.

What I've seen/read but not quite sure of:

The older the apartment complex, the cheaper the rent. And even though we do (I think) get discounts on most everything disney, including food, it would still be cheaper to bring your own lunch. And I do believe there is a CM cafeteria under the park. Don't quote me on that though since I'm not completely sure.

Yes, the more roommates you have, the less it costs. I also THINK Vista is Cheaper than the other two. I lived at Vista and did quite well for myself by the end of the week. And cast members are absolutely not allowed to buy or eat food from a dining location while they are in costume. They will get terminated. There are a few places to eat while you are working though. I worked at MK. There was the Mouseketearia, though I'm quite sure I spelled that wrong. It had a Subway, and a couple other food places. It's run by Aramark (not Disney), and I think they gave us a bit of a break on prices, but I'm not sure. There were a couple other places to get food in the tunnels or back stage, but they close early. CP's close the park generally, so those were never open by the time I got to work. The Mouse (cool Disney lingo ) stayed open until two hours before the park closed. However, it is under Fantasy Land, and I worked on Main Street, so it was quite a walk. I would only go there if I had a long break. So basically, I'm saying bring food, or wait til later to eat. My schedule was such a mess down there that I cut myself to one meal a day. I just didn't have time or motivation to cook. But she will probably figure out what it best for her after a few weeks.

Everyone loses so much weight with that mentality. Every CP, willingly or not goes through the "disney diet". I was 5'10" 155 and within two weeks i was 140. One of my other roommates dropped 20 pounds and another roommate dropped 35 pounds!

I was in the best shape while down at Disney! I definitely ate less but not down to three meals a day. You'd think I was in bad shape there cuz I ate terribly, lots of fast food and chips. But maybe all that walking did me some good. I could sure use the "Disney diet" now! Ha ha! I came home and it all went capoot!

Well now that I think about it...I have NEVER seen a cast member eat anything. Makes sense!!!

Gosh I miss the Mouseketeeria...brings back those memories. I work in MK occasionally in the Castle and it was fun to go to the mouse for lunch when I had my break. Usually I would end up having to power walk all the way up the tunnel and to the Mouse but it was worth it

Yes, more roommates does lower the rent slightly. Research the size of the kitchens regarding a 3 v. 4 bdrm. I believe some 3 bdrms have the same kitchen as the 2 bdrm with one refridgerator and closet to share between 6 persons v. 4 which can be tight. The 4 bdrm is 8 people which comes with a whole series of dynamics depending on the personalities and housekeeping habits and may be the least desirable. These apts are subject to random inspections. the rules are very strict regarding cleaning, drinking, curfews when hosting guests and CP's from other complexes and damaging property.

Our son didn't want a party room and lowered his chances by opting for the 2 bdrm. He chose Chatham since the rent was slightly lower than patterson and the apts were next to the bus stop - which is great when you're without a car. Patterson shares this bus stop with chatham but is located across the street. both complexes are big.

Vista Way is in a different area altogether and tends to house the younger wellness group. He was 21 at the time and wanted to be with his peers.

Re: food - he worked QSFB at the All Stars which had a break room in the back and a locker. but every venue is different so this may vary depending on the location. In his case, you could bring your lunch/dinner or buy it there at a slight discount of 10 - 20%. Being a male and working the later shift, he tended to buy his meals, which ate into his paycheck a bit more. Many times he went hungry if they ran out of food at the apt and nobody had time to shop or he was between paychecks and low on funds. We did ship him an Omaha steaks order which was a big hit.

Another point on food we often would get discounts at off property restaurants (Chic Fil A had a special I think on Thursdays where it was buy one entree and get one free I think and Golden Corral and Cicis had a special cast rate for their buffets.). Just make sure you have your cast ID and picture ID (usually the housing ID worked the best unless they said otherwise). In any case, there weren't too many bad deals on food and it was so good! I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly, a 1 bedroom as the same amount as a two bedroom, and a 3 bedroom and 4 bedroom had the same price as well. I am remembering this because my roommate and I almost did an apartment to ourselves but we wanted to have a couple roommates, so we chose the 2 bedroom, since the price was the same. Also, we chose chatham because it was in the middle as price points go.

I was in Chatham from Feb-June and then I was in Patterson Court from June to August and each had its pros and cons. Patterson doesn't have its own bus stop so I was having to walk all the way to the bus stop at Chatham from Patterson which wasn't too bad (provided it wasn't raining a torrential downpour before or after work). However, at Patterson the rent is a bit more but not by much (maybe like $1 or so I can't remember exactly).
