More questions about docking/tendering in St. Thomas

After reading the 'live from the Magic' thread, it noticed that the Magic tendered in St. Thomas again. Then I got curious and did a search, and found the thread that it tendered all Jan/Feb.

We're not traveling until May 29th, and I know we, of course, don't have a choice if it tenders or docks. However, I want to be prepared. I've read that some cruisers actually prefer the tender as it takes them right into town. (Fine with me as I plan to shop while DH and DD plan to snorkel.:D )

How often do the the tenders run? Every half-hour, 15 minutes? And approximately how long does it take from port to ship? I know they wait until the tender fills. About how many passengers does it carry? I know that's a lot of questions. (Can you tell we've never tendered before?)

Thanks!

We were on the 1-24-04 cruise & were suppose to tender but the night before we received notice that we were docking instead.

We sailed on the 2/7/04 Magic and had to tender in St. Thomas. The tenders run continuously but they tend to wait until they are filled up before they leave the ship. We left the ship around 10:30 am and had to wait for about 10 minutes for the tender to fill up. They hold quite a lot of people!!

Here is a link to what the tenders look like. This is a shot of the top floor. The inside had bench seats and air conditioning.

We sailed 2/21 and were docked at WICO. The schedule for that date only listed 2 other ships at the dock so I figured we would dock.
