My Alien Bees Cyber Commander arrived. It's really cool, but it has a bit of a learning curve to it. The gist is that you tell it what lights you have and what bulbs you are using as modeling lamps. You then use it like a light meter so that it can measure the output of your various lights with their modifiers. Once you've done that, you can use it to individually adjust the power of your strobes remotely.

The downside is that I had to order a receiver for each strobe. At $90 each, that adds some serious cost. Still, I would have loved to have something like this on Halloween when I was shooting an endless parade of kids with no assistant.

I also ordered a PLM reflector to use as a parabolic umbrella or as a giant softbox. It looks like it is time to round up the neighbors and have some fun.

Sounds a bit complicated (and expensive) but very cool if you're shooting in a dynamic environment. Since you have the Cyber Commander, I assume you're planning on getting some Einsteins when they are released? PLM looks very nice also.. what size?

I'm still learning with my Vivitar 283's using ebay triggers. Maybe someday if I advance my skills enough to actually make money.. I can dream
